@diavolosteddy75948 ай бұрын
@@HamazuraGODREAL why didn’t he leave it in i’ve no idea how to do this
@Mephora8 ай бұрын
@@HamazuraGODWhat you do is solve one of them for one of the variables do that you have y = x +1 Then you pretend that the y is a know quantity now and plug it into the other equation which if it's is x*y = 5 would turn into x (x+1) = 5 Now you can solve it as a regular equation. Usually you can say that for each equation you can solve for another variable eg. 17 variables means you need at least 17 equations to solve the system
@mordorimzrobimy6 ай бұрын
@@Mephora There is a different method, which I prefer. Say you have the following equations: 5x+4y=7 3x+12y=9 you can multiply one of them so that the number before either x or y is the same in both equations, for example, multiply the first one by 3 15x+12y=21 3x+12y=9 It is now possible to subtract the two equations from each other 15x+12y-3x-12y=21-9 simplifying, that's 12x=12 x=1 Then you can substitute the x in one of the equations for 1 and solve for y normally 5+4y=7 4y=2 y=1/2 I prefer this method, as it cuts out a lot of annoying work with equations this simple, and it feels more efficient to me. There are also matrices for high level work, but I've never really felt the need to use them.

There are two ways: substitution and elimination. Substitution would isolate y, making it -y=-4x + 5 which we would multiply by -1 and turn into y=4x-5. You would then plug that in to the top equation, get the answer for x, and then plug the solution for x in either equation and get the solution for y. Elimination would multiply one of the equations until a variable cancels out. In this case, it would be easier to multiple the bottom equation by 3 and have the y variables cancel each other out. You then add both equations. From then on you solve for x, and then plug in the solution and solve for y.
@Muhahahahaz Жыл бұрын
Third way: Put the coefficients in a matrix, and use Gaussian elimination (This is a general method that will work for any number of variables, and doesn’t depend on you “guessing” what to do with your next substitution/elimination)
