Autumn, an even quicker way to remove the odor faster than charcoal packs is a small open container of baking soda and a small open container of ground coffee. Lay the item (this case the purse) in a plastic tote and set the containers of baking soda and coffee inside also and put on lid to the tote. Wait 5-7 days depending on how strong the odor is. This method can be used for mold smells, mothballs etc and for many different items; clothes, purses,books,ephemera, linens etc. It even works when you buy a used car by just sticking several containers under the seats or if someone gets sick in the car. I have been in the vintage and antique business for over 20yrs and used this on so many items personally over the years without fail.

Hi Autumn! Happy New School Year! I just got promoted to interim Principal. Bracing myself! Anyway, I am so glad you kept the bag. It looks like it is in great condition! The vacate is so even! Smells can come out. I had a friend who was an avid chain smoker. I say was because she passed away from smoking. But she had gifted me a tote bag and it wreaked of cigarettes. I filled it with fabric softener sheets, and put it outside in a garbage bag for weeks. The smell came right out!!! Enjoy tour new bag!

Sometimes you can get a great deal on a bag that has something wrong with it, especially when it’s fixable. A quick fix later, and you have a perfect bag. I love fixer bags! When I started my Judith Leiber collection, I could only afford bags with flaws, like missing crystals or broken or bent clasps. A little elbow grease and voila…a beautiful bag.😁

I got a vintage version of this bag long ago when you shared it in a Christmas vlog- I love mine for airline personal item. It is older and not perfect and I worry one day the strap will give out so I carry a back up nylon one just in case. I love that mine is older and has several imperfections- It allows me to use it mostly worry free. I keep thinking I should have it redone but then I would stop setting it on the airplane floor. I also use bounce dryer sheets and those Kiwi sneaker balls for fresh scent.

🐸🦋💐Congrats, Autumn! The noe is the only LV bag I really like. The condition is great and good for you for getting the smell out. I think the smell made it cheaper than usual. Essentially someone stank it out and couldn't or couldn't be bothered to get the smell out. Their loss your gain.

I have a now vintage Noe that I bought from the boutique 22 years ago to celebrate a new job. It was my very first LV bag and the first high end luxury bag I ever bought myself. It has served me well, but the vachetta around the top and the ties were in bad shape, partly from use & partly from pets chewing on it, so I took it to Art Bag in NYC a few years ago and they replaced the damaged leather. I love my Noe and will never part with it. You made a good choice! Glad it worked out.

Thankfully the stink is going away. I am very sensitive to smells too and cigarette odor is a no go. The Real Real kind of phoned that one in- no dust bag (albeit crappy), no packing material and it was just squashed in there. But… the bag is fantastic!

I got a strong musty odor out of an LV bag with those laundry refresher crystals in about a week. I just put them right in the bag, they did not damage the lining. 😀

Heyyyy Autumn! I just received my first bag from TRR! It’s an LV Duomo and I LOVE it! However it smells like a very musty grandma smell… And was filthy inside! This is my first time to rehab a bag. I vacuumed and cleaned every inch of the interior and I’m getting ready to use Brassow on the lock and the other brass pieces. It’s actually kind of fun. But I am going to order these charcoal packs to see if I can’t maybe lighten up the smell. Your Neo looks like it’s in excellent condition despite the smell! I love it!

I only have a vintage Petite Noe and would love a Noe GM but want one similar to the one you just purchased but haven’t put in the time to find the right one. Congrats! Oh and after watching one of your prior videos I went on TRR and bought a Gucci pink scarf like the one you showed, for $87! Great news! I guessed that it was the Noe! Gorgeous bag. It is on my radar, but I want one in decent condition and the less expensive ones do seem to be battered! Same issue with replacing vachette, I don't want to lose the date code. I wouldn't mind if they would stitch the old date code back on, but apparently they won't do that! Sigh! The drama of it all! Wished I’d have known about charcoal packs a couple years ago. I purchased a Galleria GM that was immaculate like new and got it for a great price but it had such a strong odor of the previous owners perfume that was so strong an nauseating that it gave me headaches. I think because it was a bag that sat right under your arm it was literally just too in my face. So I ended up selling it since it never dissipated. May try it with my epi Noe though. Is very old and has that closet odor so fingers crossed for charcoal 💖

I have a love hate relationship with this bag! Lol I ruined two of these already. Sold one for dirt cheap and kept the other. I use it occasionally for road-trips. You got a really good deal. I’ve had success using ground coffee for odor removal in my bags. Thanks for the video!

I was toying with a 2nd hand Neverfull GM for a few months to save but the 10yr old costs $1200 with no pochette( which I like) so end up buying a new one in pivione! I know new canvas is not as thick as vintage but I still have faith it's gonna last quite a bit. Besides my concern about odor, cleaning is stressful in my part😔. I wish I have your patience, I only have one vintage, a 30yr old mini Speedy and I only need to condition it.

I got the LV Eva clutch with strong cigarettes smell. And I watched your video about how to remove smells. And your best advice was - time😂 amd it helps! I put my bag near window and after 2 months all smells disappeared!👍

My husband has classic cars and has an ozonator and I have used that to get smell out of bags, cigarettes smell is hard but mildew is even worse , good luck but I think keep the bag but contact the selling company about the smell and sell the other LV bag 👏♥️🇨🇦

Stinky pants 😂 So glad it started to go away! I learned a very expensive lesson about smells when I started my preloved purchasing journey. I have been trying to get a mothball smell out of a leather Loewe bag that wasn’t disclosed. I’ve tried charcoal, baking soda, time in a box with both (like months), leather odor remover, leather cleaner, time in the sun, etc. No idea what to do with it at this point. I learned that I have to ask about odors upfront. Perfume I can deal with, haven’t encountered cigarette smell yet, but mothball smell might outlast the end of time.

I think When you have the leather replaced, LV will still stamp the same date code to the new vachetta. I got my lining replaced in my vintage LV denim bag, and they stamped the same date code to the new lining.

Maybe research wiping down the canvas with Water Wipes brand baby wipes. I haven't received any bags from a previous smoker but I've used the Water Wipes baby wipes brand to wipe down a few Damier Ebene canvas bags from fashionphile just to make sure they were clean. It should help get some of the nicotine that may have settled on the exterior.

Oh wow, I recently purchased two bags on the same day from the real real and I ended up making a video on my channel showing them off and talking about the smell that is coming off of both of them...unfortunately, it is the "store" smell and I guess both items simply smell like the store. Maybe they were there a while... I bought the pieces because the prices were decent, and I was on a high from selling some of my collection pieces at the same time. I just recently got a limited edition LV purse from TRR, paid almost 3 grand and it smells like moth balls but worse, I have purchased a lot from them this year and my stuff has been put in a box with no paper or bubble wrap, not as great presentation as Fashionphile. I was disappointed with my purchase from TRR. The bag was in overall good condition, but was sent dirty, had an odor, and packaged without any padding - just stuffed in a box. When I retake my bags myself I clean them and package them nicely.

there is no way I could handle a bag with cigarette odor. It is so foul to me and I would sneeze all day. It’s the only thing I am allergic to. Bummer because this bag looks so great otherwise! I replaced the leather on my petite noe and did lose the date code , I didn’t realize that would happen and it made me super sad. Have you gotten a quote to just replace the vachetta on your original one?
