after being a mechanic for 40+ years i would never buy a car that had flood damage especially if it was running while it drove through the flood or into a river ect .. instantly you get hydrolocked engine which stops the engine and causes all sorts of damagenot even damage you can see like valves or con rods or pistons but it can stress the block introduce micro cracks it can also mess up all the bearing surfaces just enough to make premature failure in the future..my advice fix it and get rid of it before something else breaks in the engine.

Thanks for your comment. You’re 100% right . Water damaged cars are the worst, engine wise and the risk of electrical damage.

Aw bad luck man ,but atleast it's fixable and u don't need a replacement engine, it will be as good as new when your finished with it onwards and upwards keep the faith 👍

Diesels do tend to run a bit rough when they are cold, at least mine does. This video reminds me of diehard2 "how can the same shi* happen to the same guy twice!" lol.

Do you get a new piston and rod from BMW or do you just harvest one in good condition from a scrap engine?

Thanks for watching the video. I’ve bought a good used one from a trusted breaker.

Thanks for watching! I’ve been using FAI, my 3.0d n57 x3, family members and friends car is on FAI. But i’m not happy with the chain guide plastic design. Bms automotive sells a kit with better guides, i will try it out(not always in stock)

Febi uses IWIS parts which is same that they come with from factory just the sprockets are of lower quality apparently.

Sad it has come to this - I thought your luck had finally changed !!!! positive attitude though - age & hinsight are great things - lost a good woman through getting bothered about stupid stuff like this - health & family are all that matters really - the rest is just BS - looking forward to the next video - take care 👍👍

Thanks for your message. Definitely family and health is top priority. I used to let myself be affected by these things but not anymore. Life is too short!😊

Sorry to see the 1st fix did not last, any idea at this stage why the same thing damage occurred? Well done for keeping motivated to go at it again!

Thanks for watching the video. I couldn’t find a logical explanation how this is possible. I would say coincidence at this point, but it’s exactly the same scenario then my f20 116d was.
