The raggedy ann aesthetic works remarkably well on an eah head! I don't watch a ton of horror movies because I'm a weenie (I prefer comics and novels/short stories) but you're so right about mundane objects having much more potential to be scary. and I do think she turned out adorable :)

A movie I can think of with a sort of creepy but cute looking doll was "The Last Mimzy" like it wasn't meant to be creepy, but more whimsical, but the still shots of the plush really did irk me when I was younger.

I agree she looked too evil right off the bat lol, even I knew she was evil and screamed at the main characters on my tv about it from my couch.... but I did have a haunted doll growing up and it was literally what shaped my opinions about dolls in many ways. The haunted doll was a porcelain doll that looked like Cinderella wearing a ballerina tutu version of her blue dress. The last straw was when we all heard a thump come from my bedroom upstairs while we were all watching tv downstairs, and when I went to see what it was I saw that she fell off my shelf with her head backwards when EVERYONE HOME was downstairs... I cannot make this up. She had STEPPED over everything in front of her (all the stuff in front was untouched and still on the shelf). It was almost like she jumped off of the shelf to *unsubscribe from life* as people say nowadays. After that she (and my other porcelain dolls) got donated. But I still love dolls, mainly ones my monster/ever after high, rainbow/shadow high, Barbie, etc. (AKA ones that look very cartoony). But I will never ever own another porcelain doll again because of that.

I love her! You’ve done such a wonderful job here! I’m not a horror person at all, but I met a haunted doll, I’d show her kindness and grace and friendship, and possibly get murdered for it but I’d at least know I did the right thing. Like, imagine being friends with a haunted doll, that’d be so cool.

Thank you so much, Sami! 🧡🖤🧡🖤 and yes, that sounds rad. Oh gosh that just reminded me that I forgot to talk about The Boy in this video and how I loved it at the start but hated the ending. At one point I thought it was going to go the route of "oh this really is just the ghost of a small boy haunting this doll and he just wants to be taken care of" and honestly I wished the movie had ended with that conclusion. But I guess it would have been too wholesome. 😅

I'm with you on the look of the dolls. The scary part of them is that they look so innocuous. Same with little kids in horror movies, like The Omen or Children of the Corn. If they look creepy, you expect creepy! I haven't watched it yet, but Room 237 is on my list! I've heard good things.

YES! THANK YOU! The only scenario I could think of where an obviously creepy doll would work is if a goth or alt person finds it and brings it home because it looks creepy and they like the aesthetic but then they get more than they've bargained for. But then it's like... uh oh, which thing in my house is cursed? Is it that creepy doll I got or the stuffed raven or the old dusty tome I thought would look good on my shelf?👀

I agree about haunted dolls looking "haunted/possessed" that's why I enjoyed Chucky so much because he does at least at first harmless and it slowly gets worse as time goes on.

True though its A bit different since chucky is a slasher movie rather then a straight up haunted/possessed doll I can't wait for thenext.season of the show

Yeah I was thinking about that too and forgot to mention it in the video (though I haven't seen the films, I do know he starts off looking normal and the doll gets damaged and such over time making it look creepier... plus the fact that it can actually talk and have facial expressions changes things a bit too, as Annabelle was always unmoving)
@stephoodoll Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's the main reason why I think I haven't gotten around to watching Child's Play yet. I'm not as into slasher movies in general, though there are a few exceptions. (I LOVED the original Scream when it came out)

Anabelle came out great Steph! Your sewing is so clean and the fabric choices were great, perhaps I need to try some hem tape in the future. X'''D I wish I had some good horror recommendations for you, but most of what I like are indie mascot horror games, namely the Bendy series. That said, I'm really looking forward to the next Bendy novel that Adrienne Kress is cooking up. Fade to Black comes out on October 3rd, and the preview gives me high hopes. I really loved the last book, The Lost Ones, it's my favorite of the set so far, and you don't need the other books or games to enjoy it, it stands alone, but the context is nice. I think you'd like the psychological horror element of that, the emotional whiplash our trio of narrators go through is a wild ride, I fell in love with them.
@stephoodoll Жыл бұрын
Aww, thank you so much! 🧡🖤🧡🖤 I've watched some playthroughs of Bendy and a bunch of other mascot horror (I can't play them myself, too stressful and jump scares can be too much for me if I'm actively playing but they're fine when I watch passively). I'm actually kind of looking forward to the FNAF movie finally coming out. 👀

I'm pretty skeptical about pretty much all paranormal claims, tbh. I'm still open to the possibility of paranormal stuff being real, if there was substantiated proof that's able to be replicated. aah, i KNEW it!! i didnt wanna say on the preview hint, but real life annabelle was ofc the first thing i thought of when you said raggedy ann was the right track 😄 I really like how cute and stylized the face is, but then the legs look super long and too shapely, and it creates a sort of uncanniness. i only saw i think the third annabelle movie, bc my chicken friend lost a bet and had to go see it and asked me to come. that one wasnt as bad as i thought it would be; i find annabelle offputting for the same reason you do, it's too obviously a scary object. one woman in the film had to be like "oh why dont you girls play with it, it's cute" and like, she deserves an oscar for saying that with a straight face. Have you seen The Boy? it starts off like a haunted doll movie, but then.... well that twist still gets me. I'd recommend it, i think it fits your psychological criteria. unrelated, the new hellraiser on hulu was really good, too. they kept pinhead very gender neutral, and the cynobites all had great designs.
@stephoodoll Жыл бұрын
Thank you! 🧡🖤🧡🖤 And congrats on guessing correctly! I have seen The Boy, and I meant to mention it in this video but I forgot. I have a love/hate relationship with that movie, lol. Because the first part of it is great! And I like that the doll just seems creepy because it's old and the situation rather than looking obviously cursed. I.... did not like the ending at all. 😅 There was a point before that twist in which I hoped the twist was just that the doll was legit haunted by a real boy and that he just wanted to be taken care of. That would have been cool and unexpected. But then I realised there was like a whole half hour left of the movie. Though I've heard the second one is actually supernatural? So maybe I should give it a shot.

Chucky first one called child's play. Your Annabelle doll looks perfect the different one nope not so much, if I want to make an Annabelle doll I want to make the newer one but a sweeter like a sassy character like how Hextian did with his Wendy restaurant doll, give her longer hair with braids like how Rapunzel has & make her dress into a ball gown for Halloween ghostly Gala. I can't decide which pigtail braids I should go for low or high, which one would be better? The biggest question for the Annabelle doll why does she curse or kill people? Is there a reason why? See you next time stephoodoll.
@stephoodoll Жыл бұрын
Aww, thanks! 🖤🧡🖤🧡 If you're basing it on the newer doll, I think low braids would be best; a little more sophisticated and less cute. As for why she is haunted... in the first movie at least **SPOILERS AHEAD** there are people doing some sort of ritual killings, and one of them does while holding the doll and bleeds on her. And that kind of kicks the whole mess off. As for the real one... I don't really think she was ever haunted at all. But that's just me being skeptical. 😅
@brianahawkins8124 Жыл бұрын
@@stephoodoll Yw, that is quite the scary story. As for the new doll I want to change it's feature make it more less Annabelle than the creepy face I don't do scary face. I free hand draw Annabelle in two art one for high pig braid tail while the other one is low, So the low won.The Skullector of Annabelle's shoes would look perfect for a ball gown. However the skullector's are really expensive.
