doesn't the forging, stretching pounding and tempering change the crystalin structure of the metal therefore making it better than its original form?

Most Rebar is nor a hardenable steel, it will never hold an edge for long. The design is pretty cool though
@knivesproject334911 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! You're absolutely right about rebar not being a hardenable steel. It's important to consider the limitations when using it for certain applications. But I'm glad you still appreciate the design!

Amazing work, wished I could fing hardenable rebar like that cause all the stuff I get is mainly mild steel. The finished result was out of this world.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the finished result. Keep searching, I'm sure you'll find the hardenable rebar you're looking for!

During WWII the resistance made knives this way throughout the war. There were never enough weapons to go around . By all reports they were effective .

That's really fascinating! It's amazing to see how resourceful people can be during times of war.

I liked the knife until the other handle was attached to it Then I just felt like No Go for me.🤦🏽♀️👎🏾But nice way of reduce reuse recycle though👍🏽
@knivesproject334911 ай бұрын
Haha, we understand that the attached handle might not be everyone's cup of tea. But hey, at least we tried to be creative with the recycling! 😄

I admire the skill and craftsmanship of the smith, but would never endorse such a knife. The steel used in "rebar" can be notoriously varied and low quality even here in the US. I'd much rather have a knife from a leaf spring or a bearing race.

Zrobiłeś, ale sieczkę z mózgu nieukom. Stal zbrojeniowa [rodzaj profilu] jest robiona z najbardziej pospolitej stali konstrukcyjnej ogólnego przeznaczenia. Do dobrego noża powinieneś urzyć stali stopowej o jakiejs niskiej zawartosci wegla bo przy większej zacznie pękać
