The flex seal gave it a really awesome finish. I'll have to keep that in mind

Nice work and great walkthrough of the process. You asked about dry brush technique, to weather I prefer using oil paints mixed with white spirit. The great thing about that is you have maximum control of what you want to keep and what you want to wipe away by using a cloth dipped in White Spirit to wipe away your wash. You can go heavy on the wash and it comes off so easy. Tons of tutorials on oil paint and white spirit weathering. Great video.

Looks great! I’m in the process of finishing mine up currently. I got the Do3d file though which is a bit different.

Yeah that's a great file though. Do3d always does nice work. Enjoy the build!

Nice work man! I printed the original file by Yosh and it was a tad bit too tiny, so I reprinted it with the file you used in this video, upscaled it, and it was smaller! Wasn't very happy lol
@JohnsPrintLab6 ай бұрын
Yeah I think the one via their patreon is far too small, and the one on etsy is closer. Either way its not a bad idea to check scaling before printing.

Wait so The 23x100 divided by 22.9 method is not the right way? How do you get the percentage off of a 23” head? Please teach me 🤙🏼

There are several ways to determine helmet scaling. The one I use most are these sizing heads makerworld.com/en/models/525268 with the helmet assembled in the slicer. I then move the helmet around and scale until it looks good.

I've attempted to find this guy's (Yosh Studios) files on etsy several times and cannot locate them for the life of me. Do I have to be a patreon in order to obtain them?
@JohnsPrintLab4 ай бұрын
His etsy store got taken down a few days ago due to copyright I believe. Some studio basically complained about his files to etsy and they shut the store down. He is working on getting his own website up and running, but right now it seems the Patreon is the only way.

@JohnsPrintLab i subscribed to the patreon this morning but am waiting to pay for the premium subscription until the 1st due to the way the automatic billing service is set up. Thanks for the response. Cheers

I just got one off esty.. the magnets are trash in my opinion.. it wouldn't stay together when i had it on my head when i flexed my jaw.. so i just ended up gluing it together. Its much better now. I honestly cant see the magnets being a benefit unless the mask is bigger than your head. It can be a perfect fit because they wont stay together. So if your planning on cosplaying or dressing up for Halloween.. just glue it together.

Glue is the way to go if its still wearable for sure. Glad it worked out for you!

Not my file to drop, but I mention it's Yosh Studios several times. Can get it via patreon or their Etsy I believe.

@JohnsPrintLab Yeah, but a link would've been appreciated. Nobody wants to go ahead and Google some shit.

It's almost pointless to do any of the post processing if you have a decent printer just print it in those colors yellow and black it's all magnets done
@JohnsPrintLab6 ай бұрын
While that will give you a solid mask there is a stark difference between one that is just printed and assembled and one that is at the very least weathered.
@NoMercyFtw6 ай бұрын
@@JohnsPrintLab you can add the weathering and it still looks just as good as the painted one and when you have that textured surface it's kinda hard to process it because any sanding is taking the texture off
@rockinHurley7775 ай бұрын
Even with a good printer and settings dialed in.. post processing is necessary because it makes it 100 finished and a smooth painted surface is always better than layer lines..@NoMercyFtw
@NoMercyFtw5 ай бұрын
@@rockinHurley777 lol yeah maybe a little post posterizing but it's not better than a painted surface because the color can't come off you can't get chipped the color is all the way through the product think about what you're saying man
