I’ve been hesitant to get back into 3D printing ever since my X1C had issues but been reinvigorated. The PC fan cover is a trick I haven’t seen before and it makes so much sense going to def use that in the future

In my experience with Yosh Studios files, resin printing the eye gets the super fine detailing of the mesh, and then spray painting the inside of the eyes black (or really any other dark color) helps preserve your sight very well. The black color facing towards your own eye gives much, much better contrast against your average surroundings than if it was just the color white facing towards your eye.

Very, very nice project. That helmet turned out great. I'll have to try and make one for my grandson. One thing I'd have you different is, wear gloves when priming, sanding and painting. Your hands have body oil on them (no matter how clean you have them) and it can affect the paint. Rubbing your bare hands on anything before sanding and painting is not recommended. Thank you for your time and video.
@JohnsPrintLab

Solid point for sure. I live in the midwest and the humidity and summer heat makes me not want to wear anything let alone rubber gloves lol. Good luck with your build!

Great video! Do you think there is a way to slice the helmet into smaller sections to be able to print on the A1 mini? Then just glue those pieces together?
@JohnsPrintLab
@JohnsPrintLab 6 ай бұрын
yeah absolutely. might need a little bondo to hide the seams, but should be doable.

Helmet looks great! I think the "fabric" texture of the red part held onto the black wash just a little too much on the top though
@JohnsPrintLab
@JohnsPrintLab 5 ай бұрын
agreed. It does look better in person than on camera though so that's a plus.

If you put sem line in the back it can help hide a lot of the layer lines

How’s the breathability? I only skimmed the video, I plan to come back and watch the whole thing so apologies if you answered in the video. Is there airflow through the eyes?
@JohnsPrintLab
@JohnsPrintLab 6 ай бұрын
Yeah the eyes have holes so there is some air flow, but it is a solid plastic helmet so it can get warm.

Wonderful video,can't wait to make this myself. As a question, what printer are you using? And also what bed size do you recommend?
@JohnsPrintLab
@JohnsPrintLab 6 ай бұрын
I use a BambuLab P1P and love it. I started with an Ender-3 and just having the little extra bed size of the P1P is a massive improvement. I wouldn't go smaller than the P1P bed for helmets which I think is 235mm.
