Tony was like a rock star imo. Such a cool and smart man. I still want to read his books. I still watch reruns of his shows like No Reservations. He was a great writer!! So cool that you did this Sean. 👍

He meant everything to me as a kid who had never got to travel far. He taught me to get out of my head about scary foods. I leaned on his wisdom and coolness a lot. His death shook me. I look at his legacy as one that rivals any other major philosopher. I’m just in awe of him.

I've been binge watching and rewatching your channel and Eat Local with Corey all week, you guys are such a comfort... this looks so delish, Anthony was such a special person, his Beef Bourguignon from his Les Halles cookbook is hands down one of the best meals I have ever made, it's Christmas Dinner worthy, I highly recommend it. Also the scalloped potatoes (Gratin Dauphinois) are sublime as you boil them in milk with fresh thyme, hope you and Aly get to make it one day :) I also just got my delivery of your and Corey's Sixer Sauce 2 pack and holy guacamole, what an epic flavor, I have never had hot sauce like this before. My brain was bouncing off the walls with the complexity of flavors and nuances, genius and brilliant and 10 stars is all I can say. Hope the other sauces are back in stock soon, I want to try them all :)

I miss Anthony. It was one won of my fave shows. This sando is a variant of holuumi lounza which I used to get from a Cypriot run cafe in London. Same concept but they added chips and salad on top and didn't fry the bun. The fist time I bought that sando into the office, everyone was asking me where I got it from. If you ever do a full English brekky, toss a piece of bread in the pan and fry it. It's beautiful! Take care Seany 2 sandos!

My family used to make something similar but we used chip-chop ham. Yeah, the cheap, composite ham loaf in the counter. Paper thin slices, grilled in a stack to crispiness on the outer sides and warm saltiness inside, slice of swiss cheese on top, melted, served on a hamburger bun. I imagine the grilled mortadella would taste like a very plussed up version.

I remember this sandwich making its rounds on the internet for AB loving its simplicity. I remember being a kid and just doing the standard flat layers with sliced meat sandwiches but as you get older (one of my first jobs was working in a deli) we learned that folding the meat actually gave volume and a better bite. But something about seeing you cook it while folding it was so sexy lol :s Damn I wish my family liked mortadella.

try your local grocery store deli. or a meat market
@strykerentllc24 күн бұрын
Your Mortadella had peppercorns in it, not pistachios. You should find an Italian deli that imports it with pistachios; somewhere like Frangellas in Palos Park. That's simply a fried bologna with cheezus sammy, bro. Us blue collar immigrant's kids on the south side ate that on the regular back in the 70's and it only became popular with yuppies and hippies like AB after he "discovered" it and decided to talk about it. The poor kids ate the fried Oscar Mayer with Kraft slices "cheese" variant on Wonder Bread.
@Blue-xk8vq13 күн бұрын
Mortadella is traditionally made with peppercorns, and often includes pistachios but they aren't a must. Love the fact that AB got people excited about accessible affordable things like this sandwich, your comment is a Debbie Downer, bro.
@strykerentllc13 күн бұрын
@@Blue-xk8vq A: Wiki is a shit source for your quip. B: AB didn't discover it and people that lived under a rock should've explored Italian meats on their own instead of waiting for some depressed leftist to "discover" it. C: AB was a downer which explains why he decided to do what he did with placing himself in the forever box. Those who put people on pedestals will always be disappointed when their "hero" fails them. D: You've never been to Italy and it shows. E: Shawn eats like a 12 year old when the 12 year old's parents aren't home and said it contained pistachios, so try to keep up. "bro"...

Anthony Bordain " Don't be frightened to try something new" and then 20 seconds later his favourite sandwich is bread meat cheese Wow ... pushing the envelope. Wait till Arby's discovers this. Or Mcdonals, or BK or Wendys or ... etc etc. Having said that you did a great video once again ... your camera work is top notch. Next time perhaps cook your own bread for it, perhaps a baguette with 70% hydration, 2% salt, no sugar or fat. And add something with a bite such as red cabbage to counter point the fat quotient. Sorted, give it your twist, would have been better than his.
