Wow! This is very cool! I've gotten into resin art over the past 2 months. I love it as I'm disabled and if I'm feeling OK then I can do some items. My son and I were talking about making molds as he has a 3d printer. Thank you for sharing what you learned. It's very appreciated!

Found your videos today, cause I'm planning on working with resin, and I have to say, your videos are so pleasant and interesting. I'm not normally for glittery and flowery stuff with a bunch of colours but your sweet personality and commentary really pulls it all together. So yeah, that's about it ^^

Tip for future viewers or even you: the shininess of the product depends on how shiny the inside of the mold is! So before you add your item for the mold spray it with a shine or sealer

I know this is 2 years old, but it's a great project. You can top coat your 3d prints with a uv resin to avoid too much sanding and you can get that glossy texture.

The empty space above rhe letters is a good space to put small shapes like hearts, stars or snowflakes. You will reduce the amount of silcone you need to make your molds

Oh that's a great tip. I was looking at it while I was editing the video and chastising myself for wasting so much haha.

Try filling the gaps in the 3d print with uv resin or bondo or something before using the silicone.

I'm working on my own moulds right now, initially used clay but I've designed some for my dad to 3D print, sadly he lives in another country so I have to wait 😂 Top tip, you can use a Doming resin or uv resin to smooth them out and make them shiny, shiny product = shiny silicone mould :)

I lost my job during covid too! So glad you are doing well! I bought a 3D printer a few months ago and starting my own BJD line! I'm a 3D artist so it works perfectly. SO hard to get jobs in my industry and I'm kinda tired of working for others who don't know my worth. So starting my own business! Also love your light idea! And helpful video@

Spraying the 3d print with a spray primer that can sand is the best way to smooth out a 3d print after a little sanding on the 3d print plus using a fine layer height.

Amazing video 👏 Amy, i am medically disabled and spend most of my time in bed. The assistance computer software i use doesn't work well with forums or social media sites; and so, KZbin is my #1 source, for everything! I depend so much on it and i am SO appreciative to all the contributors, that i never leave negative or even critical comments. But, because i mostly watch offline, i don't, often enough, leave good comments either. Your video was great ;and i had to tell you. This exactly the project i am waiting for a few "good days" to be able to start. Those days have been infrequent the past few years, so it's necessary for me to buy supplies and do as much pre-planning as i can, in order to get the most out of my limited build time. Watching videos like yours, is a big help to the planning; and, more importantly, a welcomed distraction from my health. Videos, like yours, that are informative and also entertaining really enhance my quality of life, and so i wanted to say thank you. This video, to me, was perfect! So many others would have un-molded the casting, told me what they planned to do next and that would be the end of it. You, were so amazingly thorough. You explained the problems (ridges etc) that you anticipated using a 3d print and told us how you tried to deal with them; then, you let me come along, for the whole start to finish journey! I was looking at your finished Noel light & thinking, how glad i am you didn't leave me hanging; when you added bonus content, comments and photos of other outcomes and other things you tried, fantastic!! Yesterday, contemplating my project, i began wondering about a product i saw from SMooth-On for 3d print ridges. I couldn't find any videos, so i know they make it, but not how it works.? PLEASE -What 3D PRINT smoothing product did you use? - i don't see it with the links above?- AND- Did it really help? If i have any other questions, may i message you on Etsy? (i do not have ig or Fbk). It looks like you only sell completed items & i am in the US, but i'd buy your advice and tips, any day! I will share your video and use your links. Thanks Again ~ 🛠Lisa♿ PS i hope all is well with the new job!

Definitely worth the effort!! I have purchased a mold kit but haven’t tried it yet. My nephew wants me to make him some keys for his keyboard 😬!! Hope you’re doing better nowadays and you have a great attitude about it and a wonderful sense of humor. I dated a guy from England with the same sense of humor lol 😝! Take care 🤗🦋
