With the enemy targeting you could make the camera ease or lerp towards the target point.

Mind blowing devlog. One of the main sources of inspiration for my own devlogs haha. Your inventory is really sick btw. Can't wait to see more. !! Edit- While shooting bow, you can lerp camera position close to player or maybe change some FOV so that while shooting high in the sky, it won't go near the ground and block player's POV.

One tip I would give is to implement stamina like Fromsoft did in Elden Ring. Your stamina doesn't drain outside of combat so when doing things like running or climbing but those things will drain stamina when in combat Awesome dev log as usual!

The resistance to certain damage types would probably work better as a percent reduction than just subtraction in my opinion

Please also add some characters with different abilities Like a character could stop the movement of the enemy for about 3 seconds while he inflicts damage Another character can have a ability to tank other players and deal damage with a little ccoldown And you can probably think of many others

@@s4bishii Not just the start You can devide the characters in tiers like Normal, rare, legendary. As the game progresses we can slowly unlock these characters with some amount of ingame currency. Or you can also make it so that the player has to collect certain material hidden in the map to get a particular character. Same can be done with weapons

something i found that works well for damage is having defense be a extra health shield. like 20HP 10Phy 5Mag. You can have heavy hits do lots of damage but then recharge the shields mid fight. this also opens up new gameplay mechanics of fixing the shields. It gets good panic drama of being low HP but still have a comeback. Monster hunter has the sharpen the weapon. Its a fun mechanic. Physical i guess you would be burning trow shields and swords which is not a good feeling to lose a weapon but you could also just do improvised shields with warever you find around. Thats also cool. Like what if your Physical shield is made of rocks? You basicly used magic to shapeshift rocks into your shield. That would be a super cool mechanic like Fullmetal alchamist type of weapon summon. this way it would not feel as bad to lose weapons cuz you can just create another one. It also opens up fun combat mechanics of building platforms for defense, jump higher, dodge, traps. It needs to be limited tho so it doesnt become too op. Having different types of materials for arrows. boy that would be sick! Have the arrows be infused with Alchamist Magic to explode with various effects. My dream game right there

Lots of interesting ideas here, I haven't started with combat yet but I'll definitely keep all of this in mind (screenshotted). My biggest struggle with the combat system are the animations, I want to make a lot of stuff but man, animations are hard, and expensive. As soon as I figure out the animation part I'll think how the system will work. Thanks for the ideas! Keep them coming 😁

Animations you can make a few key ones and have different effects. you would be mainly doing effects. like an arrow animations would all be the same its just the aftermath that changes. look at wizard of legend. its 2d shooting spells to any angle but the base character sprite is only a few frames. Doesnt need to be fancy. so long as it looks cool and is clear gameplay wise

maybe instead of magic damage you can call it mana damage? Also i think it would work better if you had a separate tick damage where you could put poison or other things you might add like fire, shock, freeze, etc.

I avidly watch your videos to learn for my own project Edit: For ideas, maybe have an extra "fun" stat other than pure damage. Maybe something like attack range or knockback value? Or something more movement based like dodge buffs or reduced stamina use. I any case, i hope you find the things youd like to add to resttore!

Great devlog as always. One thing you might Want to change is the color of health and Stamina. I find them a bit confusing; when i see a continuous health bar without any gaps like hearts, i feel like the Health should be green. And maybe blue of the stamina? Especially for People with color blindness, green+red might be Hard to Tell apart. :)

Personally, I don't like the Diablo gems system. If the gems are something more meaningfull than numbers that would be cool (Like skills or something). I know nothing about game design :)

Not because the combat system where every move is based on stamina, coupled with a complex system of blocking, rolls and parrying can fail, the player will be crushed by losing stamina and enemies will simply destroy the player, especially if they are in a group It won't help with a defense system that can make the player deal zero damage It just my raw opinion

​​@@godzillapl8106 Ive playes stamina based fighting games before, heres my take. (Some notes before we start: 1. Its pvp 2. We have normal attacks and abilities, only abilities use stamina 3. The game is more about combos than pure damage) 1. Yes it can be difficult to balance but that's exactly ehat makes the gameplay need skill. The ability to balance stamina while being able to do combos that deal damage is one of the core techniques for the game 2. Since it's a pve game, the group of enemies problem can be somewhat fixed by either making the enemy weaker than the player, or make a system so only one enemy attacks at a time. For 1v1 battles though, that wont be necessary. 3. A defense system that makes the player do zero damage is perfectly fine. One way to make it good is to have it so that enemies have endlag if you dodge a move (not for blocking though, as that would be op) What do you think? I've got an idea for your combat system. (this is just after you asked the question three fourths, approximately, of the way through your video) The idea is of twenty magic damage is blocked by the same, have them ether take one percent of damage if... This if if you add it... If they are weaker by the caster's level - overall or in magic.

Loads of indies go straight for souls combat...but i wouldnt bother...that area is over saturated...you should branch out into something else...maybe true hack and slash like dmc...or batty boi...or come up with a unique system...

Fromsoft stole Team Ninja's Ninja Gaiden: they stole the combat system, the checkpoint system, the level design, the weapon upgrade system, the progression system... Play ninja gaiden sigma trilogy: your soulslike genre wasn't created by fromsoft.

This is looking generic, we have a tone of indy/solo Devs trying to replicate dark souls and given that most funded games made by teams have not been able to even get close to it just shows, it's not easy to do but even it's a false idea to try to replicate such a game. Although I feel the intention is great indy Devs should work together. This is looking like another broken project which even if released will not offer anything that makes people want it. The best indy game out there are original, different and usually have more soul. Sorry to say and cool idea, I work on games and this looks like another failure experiment, I'm sure you will be good at one thing and when AI comes or gameplay polishing happens it will look bad because those are difficult to achieve and require specific knowledge.
