@raggletaggle8827 Жыл бұрын
@@gregkareem9824 right, but if it's on sale (something private buyers in this area might have really benefitted from at the time) then it's unlikely the store was planning to restock the specific item. If they did, it'd cost them more with non-sale costs. I know I made the comment 2 years ago (kind of amazed it's still getting replies), but I am sticking to my guns when I say ebayers who consider themselves true 'business' sellers should absolutely seek new stock from an actual warehouse distributor. Buying reduced stock from supermarkets meant for private buyers is the kind of an amateur thing to do. Supermarkets should really put caps on how much a single buyer can take out.
@jonsutherland24465 жыл бұрын
I couldn't do this without feeling like I was being selfish by denying other people the opportunity to buy whatever item is reduced and like i was ripping them off on the resale. How do people do listings in “a few minutes”? I sell on eBay, usually one off antique or vintage items. I fully describe relevant details, faults & blemishes. I use the advanced listing tool. If I list something in less than 25 minutes I’m doing well but if there’s several items in one lot, it can easily take me 45 minutes or more. Many folk are so unobservant, so I describe detail that can already be seen in the photos. My descriptions, although concise, are comprehensive, so take time to write. How do other sellers list stuff so quickly?

In the current climate other traders have been adopting the practice of clearing items from supermarket shelves to re-sell in their own shops at inflated prices t o cash in on the situation. I do have a problem with this type of behaviour and think there should be penalties for this type of thing . It’s depressing the mentality that some have looking to screw others over essential products like personal care/over the counter medicines. I don’t have a problem with what this specific product and what the guy is doing as free commerce needs buyers and sellers but profiteering through peoples fear and misfortune has to be discouraged and stopped, just my rant being a nurse who cannot get to the shops in time before the shelves are cleared.

I realise this video was put up a year ago and the supermarket waned to clear the products but it put me in mind of what I saw several weeks back. Before "lockdown" I was walking through our local street market and saw a couple of small stalls {well barely stalls actually) selling toilet rolls and hand sanitiser at grossly inflated prices. The traders were telling people their suppliers were charging much higher prices now and this is what they had to charge customers. Total b s. They were not regular stall holders. They went round the supermarkets and just swiped products off the shelves while they could still get away with it and then sold them for huge profits. Sad to say that this is one war time mentality we could do without. Even sadder was that people were panicked into paying their prices. Blatant profiteering. Thank god that has stopped now.

Biggest bug bear of mine is eBay sellers profiting off shipping. Recently bought a faulty laptop to fix up and sell on. Won it for £75 plus £17.99 next day "express" postage. Paid for it on Thursday morning, seller messaged me and said "Currently away and not back until Monday".... so that was a bummer from the start, they hadn't turned "Holiday mode" on either so no way for me to know. Eventually it was dispatched on Tuesday since they got home late Monday night, sure it did arrive next day - but they sent it on a Royal Mail 24 Tracked service.... The price I paid for "Next day guaranteed by 1pm shipping" was £17.99 The price the seller actually paid for "Tracked 24 shipping" was £5.69 The box the seller sent it in was an old CEX shoebox style box, so no doubt one she had laying around and didn't cost her anything. Seller made £12.30 PROFIT on shipping. That's insane. Usually I set shipping at just enough to cover the cost and often not even enough to cover the cost of shipping the item and take a hit of a few pounds out of the price the item sells for to cover the difference.

Cut out the middle man and buy direct from the manufacturers, save even more money. Creating false demand isn't clever or beneficial to anyone. However, i know this is over a year old, so that can be excused from what's happening recently. Everything in a store like this should be limited, per person. At least in light of recent times.
@sh-hg4eg2 жыл бұрын
Essentials should be limited, of course. I don't think there is a high demand for precut adhesive tape however.

Just curious Nic... do you ever sell stuff like this as an entire job lot, and maybe double or treble your money for a quicker profit? Or do you prefer to wait for a bigger profit over a longer period by selling individually?

I despair of people in Britain like him, MORALLY BANKCRUPT,no scruples whatsoever. Wouldn't be at all surprised to learn he's one of the people clearing supermarket shelves during this current covid 19 outbreak.
@namestick61334 жыл бұрын
Seriously? A guy who buys things to resell is MORALLY BANKCRUPT? How so? He (and his wife) have been going around buying groceries for their neighbours since the outbreak, may I ask what it is you are doing to support others during the outbreak? This video was filmed a year ago. I too am a reseller I could have bought out masks last month when people laughed at me for warning them of Covid 19 but I told people what masks to buy to be protected and those that listened got them for £15-20 The people who laughed at me have began panic buying the same masks I recommended and now they are £130-150 due to peoples ignorance.

Unless you can sell out in a week or so, I wouldn't recommend it as the manufacturer has discontinued it along with all its marketing behind it. It may not be relevant to consumers if u have them for too long.
