Ok, this was awesome!!! My husband was in the same room as I watched this and he was laughing. Thank you to Brock for being such a good sport....now to convince my husband to do it as well :)

I started reading Harlaquin romance novels in high school, when I discovered the library had a whole bookshelf of them, I ended reading the entire section in secret from my mom (it was the late 80s) and after I graduated I'd buy them from a used book store, and kept a log of the mom safe ones that I'd hand over if she ever asked to see what I was reading. The hotter the book the farther back in my closet in a box I kept them. Then I discovered Kenyon, Sands, and Feehan. Thankfully by then my mom lost interest in what I did as long as I had served her first.. I was held in control fully by my narcissistic mom till I escaped her completely when I was 38. Those romance books showed me people escaping controlling families and kept me trying to get a life of my own. I will never run down a romance novel as pointless, I held out hope of finding a life of my own because of them... but now at nearly 52 I haven't been on a date or in a relationship because I can't be comfortable with people enough to trust them after the family I had, but I still read romance and get lost in the fantasy worlds.

This was incredibly fun to watch (got here from his channel)! I love that you talked about the differences in perspective and how that creates different emphasis in what and how things are described. Super fascinating! I might actually try reading a couple of these just out of curiosity.

Glad you enjoyed it! He's definitely a trooper for doing this kind of video. Completely different from his typical, but fun to include him!

I got a DRC of Haunting Adeline a couple of weeks after it was published through a GR group, when it an obscure book no one had heard about yet. It was my second ever DARK romance, I had no idea what I'd gotten myself into LOL The guy's POV ended up being a little to (g)rapey for my tastes, but I liked the gothic vibes and spooky imagery.

I find that most of the time the spicy scenes drag the book down because they are described as a caricature. I would like the authors to put more effort into building these scenes so that readers can enjoy the reading 100/100
