I started reading Harlaquin romance novels in high school, when I discovered the library had a whole bookshelf of them, I ended reading the entire section in secret from my mom (it was the late 80s) and after I graduated I'd buy them from a used book store, and kept a log of the mom safe ones that I'd hand over if she ever asked to see what I was reading. The hotter the book the farther back in my closet in a box I kept them. Then I discovered Kenyon, Sands, and Feehan. Thankfully by then my mom lost interest in what I did as long as I had served her first.. I was held in control fully by my narcissistic mom till I escaped her completely when I was 38. Those romance books showed me people escaping controlling families and kept me trying to get a life of my own. I will never run down a romance novel as pointless, I held out hope of finding a life of my own because of them... but now at nearly 52 I haven't been on a date or in a relationship because I can't be comfortable with people enough to trust them after the family I had, but I still read romance and get lost in the fantasy worlds.

This was incredibly fun to watch (got here from his channel)! I love that you talked about the differences in perspective and how that creates different emphasis in what and how things are described. Super fascinating! I might actually try reading a couple of these just out of curiosity.

I got a DRC of Haunting Adeline a couple of weeks after it was published through a GR group, when it an obscure book no one had heard about yet. It was my second ever DARK romance, I had no idea what I'd gotten myself into LOL The guy's POV ended up being a little to (g)rapey for my tastes, but I liked the gothic vibes and spooky imagery.

specially after seeing another guy reading these topics with his wife only making fun of them and calling it wrong, your version made me like marriage and relationships! you guys are great! kudos to your husband for being so understanding, i am never so understanding when watching porn i literally get depressed and hate men if i watch them, from now on thanks to your hubby i'm going to try to be more understanding to their pleasure form as well. although these days i hate the scenes in romance novels too, they seem to romanticize violence and possessive bossy behavior so heavily while a bit of playfulness, bossiness is one thing, actual violence and girls being mistreated and bossed around is another thing entirely, and because it has context it makes it sound okay unfortunately. but i have seen how that is so misleading in reality, in books beasts are tamed basically and they are understanding in all the right times, in reality a beast is a beast in and out of bed. good guys are so much rarer than "bad boys", i wish books would show some appreciation for them! i hope people reading this stuff read it with their minds open. i sound 50! i'm only 29 though :P i have nothing against sex and kinks i just hate how guys automatically think girls love violence because they see it in porn and romance book reviews so often when i don't! and also some girls i cared about always chasing after bad/cool/womanizer/wealthy guys lost a lot of confidence and sense of self worth with these guys that there was nothing left of them after the break up and they never learned to appreciate respect so even when they got the good guys at the end they were respected and loved but not happy.

I'm honestly surprised at your opinion to Haunting Adeline. That is probably one of my favorite smut books because of how much plot there was. In comparison to other popular book tube books like the Twisted series that I ended up hating because of how repetitive and predictable the plots were. I'm curious if you read the second book in the duology that I felt had a lot more plot and character development along with a much more serious tone.
@JessicaMoon-hd1xq10 күн бұрын
Yeah, you're right. I wasn't going to comment, but when she said hating about hunting Adeline, The book is probably one of the most popular books among others. I mean I couldn't get it. I Love Zade Meadows.
@radudumanovschi33875 ай бұрын
I find that most of the time the spicy scenes drag the book down because they are described as a caricature. I would like the authors to put more effort into building these scenes so that readers can enjoy the reading 100/100
