Hey Lewis. Being an electronic engineer with a 30+ year career in industrial automation, I know exactly what it takes to create, build and manufacture an electronic device. It’s not something trivial. Congratulations on what you achieved. I’m building a country house which will obviously be fully automated and I’ll be soon ordering a bunch of Lites. Cheers!

I would love an EP1 injection molded case, too, for what it's worth! Also, side note - I would love if there was a case/mount option that had the USB port sticking out of the back so it could be plugged directly into a wall wart sticking out of the wall - no need for a cord!
@iporter8826 ай бұрын
Can the case be screwed direct to the wall without the ball joint? I'm building a new house and want to hide all wires too. Plan would be to use poe and make an adaptor to use the 5v pins inside the unit. Would be good to fix direct to the wall so you don't see any cables.

This was my immediate thought, surely 90% of the time this is going to be on a table/stand with the cable going down the back of the table, hidden.... It doesn't really make sense for it to come out the bottom and to the side, it makes hiding the cabling harder. I doubt I'd be able to get approval for it in our house!

Cool and honest product that I'll buy! I'd love to see in the future a wall thermostat with a small display showing temperature (or humidity or CO2 if they are out of a safe range, maybe with a visible red warning signal) and a couple of buttons to adjust desired temperature so that Home Assistant turn on or off heating/cooling. I'd like to have also mmWave, CO2, VOC, light, sound sensors. And of course BT presence.

I now have three Everything Presence Lites and very pleased with them. I had not realised the sensor can 'see' through studwork walls. Most of my house is blockwork, but one wall is studwork. I stood behind that waiting for a sensor to detect no presence and it just would not go off. Finally, I realised. Need to resize the room (actually it is a hallway). Other than that perplexing thing with my lack of knowledge they have been great. Need to find more uses so I can get some more ;-)

I did had some trouble setting it up on Linux (tried 2 different machines) but luckily I did have a spare windows machine around that could connect to the serial of the board. This is probably outside of your responsibility but for me the 35 dollar / euro smart product that I thought I ordered happened to already increase to ~ 45 euro with shipping and then I had to pay another 15 euro to import it to the Netherlands as the UK is no longer inside the EU. so total price of 60 euro's is a bit different then seeing a 35 euro price tag when introduced to the product.

I love your work on esp sensors for smart home. If you want a new project, sound detection can be super. Think of it! Detection of a non smart firearm setting of! (Best part of some of the non smart smoke detectors is the serial warning between themselves, and up to ten years battery lifetime) so have the opportunity to get the alarm into home assistant with esp can be super! Also detecting other electronic alarm like open fridge, finish washing machines, can be super. My thoughts is having mic close to the speaker, might have opportunity to record a sound sequence for detecting play sound on a washer (recording for recognition, like a voice assistant, but just with music.) might also tune on db and tone to find trigger spot. Myself have been working with people with disabilities like defense, or hearing loss. It’s a group who make good use of things like this (detecting other devices for convince or importance of alarms) they also use vibrations devices in pillows or under the mattresses to wake them in case of emergency (might also be an idea) if they are not able to hear alarms in their sleep. Hope you find some of this idea compelling and useful to us as well and not only those with disabilities.

Great work, as always! I just ordered a Presence Lite and Presence One, excited to get to play around with them! I live in a converted solar-powered shuttle bus, and adding presence detection to modulate the lights and the heat pump has been on my list for a long time, I know it could save a ton of power to not have the lights, heat, or AC running when I'm not home, but the PIR shelly motion sensors I tried would turn off all the lights when I sat for too long, and the one cheap zigbee mmW sensor I tried never even worked at all, and so I kinda gave up on it until I found this video. I'm really curious to know more about the Seeed Studio sensor with breath and heartrate detection. I can't find too much info about it in the documentation or by googling, but you and a couple of reviewers seem to mention that it's compatible and plug-and-play with the Presence Lite, if I understand correctly. Does that mean that if I install a Seeed sensor in the Presence Lite, the Breath Rate and Heartrate sensors will show up automatically in Home Assistant? Or will I have to edit the ESPhome firmware to get access to those? Adding Breathrate and Heartrate sensors to Home Assistant wasn't on my wishlist until just now, but it would be fascinating data to track. If you could let me know what steps I'd need to take to get the Seeed Studio biometric sensor data working with the Presence Lite, I'd greatly appreciate it!
