Since SMB1 is such a simple game, it can be hard to recognize skill level beyond for a casual viewer. That is to say, it's really hard for an average Joe like me to understand just how difficult most of the speedrun tricks are, and there's nothing too insanely flashy in the runs that makes it look ridiculously difficult. I loved this video because it made me go "goddamn... this guy's good at videogames." Seeing you adapting to the random terrain and getting through it with tight movement was just genuinely impressive, in the same way normies tend to appreciate watching Olympic-level gymnasts over sprinters: it's easy to quantify how amazing they are just by watching them, you don't need a stopwatch to understand it. TL;DR Great vid, easier to comprehend than speedruns, loved it

If you lose all your lives and get a game over, then you have to restart that world at area 1 with 3 lives. You only have to restart the whole game from 1-1 if you restart the console.

Its actually a bit more complicated the what the current product showcases. Each level is created from "blocks" , and each "block" of a level must fit with another to create a possible route, that includes jumps and such. Coolcord has not put in a ton of time with creating new "blocks" for each section in sometime so this is why a lot of levels will look similar, especially the castle levels where he has the fewest "block" sections.

@@gaslit7442 but the thing is, this randomizer generates a whole new mario game that you use as a ROM, so you can analize it all you want and then attempt your speedrun. That's mostly how it would work because of how the randomizer works. It depends on what the commenter meant by "this" If they meant "these specific levels" then my answer applies. If they meant "A whole new, random world. Blindly" then you would be right Edit: like, in the video, when Kosmic died, he didn't go in whole new run like you would do in a roguelike. So after defeating every level and memorizing them, he could have reseted this new ROM and potentially speedrun them properly. Level headed doesn't work like Minecraft or Roguelikes, so i bet that it's speedruns would work differently as well
