In Bugaboo The Flea there's only one fairly small level with a single enemy, you just have to reach the exit which is at the top and a really good player would beat the game almost immediately, but most players just try over and over again for hours and barely get anywhere. It reminds me of Getting Over It because you play a character that is really tricky to move and you keep accidentally falling and losing progress.

Actually mario is "behind" the background and hasn't had his palette altered.. but mario's sprite has a higher sprite priority than the other sprites, so the other sprites are drawn behind mario... even when mario is behind the background

a similar thing happens in mario 3. a specific sprite is drawn that has higher priority over mario but the sprite goes behind background tiles, such as ground and pipes. the sprite is needed because mario is drawn in front of background tiles

22:47 Sprite order can override sprite priority (depth) between one another before the background is drawn. In other words, spiny was drawn, then Mario is drawn over it, then when background is drawn, priority is finally taken into account. SMB3 puts sprites behind the pipe when anything enters or exits it rather than placing Mario/plant/goomba behind the pipe. SNES games can use the same trick as well.

@@Sarwex117 They're always fiddling with their algorithm, trying to find a balance between recommending videos you already know you'll like and recommending videos you don't know you like so that you can expand your horizons. I mostly use the Subscriptions tab, so I never have this issue. I have a feeling a lot of people don't even know that exists.

I just seen something in this video that validated what I said about the flagpole not lowering if you beat the level by clipping through the block at the bottom! If you notice when you beat one of the levels you clipped right through the spiny which confirms what I said before about the level complete trigger causing the game to ignore the flagpole. In other words the level trigger does extend down into the block while the flagpole animation trigger does not!

I don't think anything causes the palette color of the blocks underwater. They just used the blocks for the overworld and darkened them. Perhaps it is just laying them on the blue background but doesn't seem anything drastic.

I've never been a fan of kaizo blocks in kaizo levels. It was fine in the beginning. Mario Maker destroyed any funniness about them for me. I think I just don't have the patience to play a level really slowly to find the hidden blocks. I prefer hard levels that are well-made.

Don't think so. He said last time he got a world record that he was "completely satisfied" with the run and wouldn't grind it any more. This was before a more viable method for TAS 8-2 was discovered, though, and it doesn't seem like pl8-1 is a complete 1/1,000 chance anymore. At the time that record was practically the human limit, but of course, 4:54 has since been done. It doesn't seem like he'll go for it, though.
