Yes they did overreact especially Lorelai, But because Jess was an "outsider" and didn't kiss Lorelai's ass it made it easier for her to blame him for the accident. Plus in her eyes her precious daughter was too pure to do anything out the ordinary like get in a car wreck.

Also, up until this point Jess had still basically being doing everything he could to annoy or piss people off for his own amusement. He knew they viewed him as an outsider so he fully played into that role instead of making an effort to change it. Of course it was an accident, but for the town it was just another case of him causing trouble

Sure Jess was a little wild, but when you have the life he had it is to be expected. And Luke tried to help him with that but Jess decided to be Jess. And it’s not like Rory is some sort of God. She is a human and is bound to make mistakes. The crash was a big one, but Stars Hollow should know this, it’s Rory’s car. It was her decision to let him drive it. Jess asked her if she wanted to go in circles and she said yes. Jess was behind the wheel but anyone could have done the same if they saw an animal passing by.

I think while Rory should’ve been doing what she said she’d be doing, Jess was the one who crashed the car. But for the entire town to go against him? That was stupid. I did understand Lorelei’s reaction though, it was scary

Awwwwwwwww, love this scene. This really shows how Jess cared for Rory, he never planned for that accident to happen. I Know Lorali was scared for her daughter, but I kind of think she went too far when she yelled at Luke for not getting rid of Jess.

Jess and Luke are so similair in so many ways. I honestly thought Luke had more in common with Jess than he did with his daughter April. Their relationship was the second best on the show (next to rory and Lorelai). I adored Jess and I am so glad he got his act together! Idk why Lorelai never liked Jess HE WAS THE YOUNGER VERSION OF LUKE! Always love GG fav show!

Honestly, that's how I felt after certain accidents that happened both when I was in my late teens to early 20s. Still struggling with the guilt. I'm at the ripe age of 22 currently. I'm glad I had/have a few people like Luke in my life though. Without them, I probably wouldn't even be alive right now.

Yes!! I mean it makes sense. Jess is raised and Luke is his uncle. It makes sense for them to have more of a friendship equal relationship. Rory and lorelei have a toxic relationship. Mothers can’t be best friends with their daughters. Daughters need a mom not a best friend. Daughters shouldn’t think of their mothers emotions before their own needs growing up.

I know what it's like to be/feel partially responsible for someone else getting hurt like that. I made stupid mistakes similar to his when I was in my late teens to early 20s. The guilt never fully goes away. I still haven't fully forgiven myself for those things that happened. I'm working on that but I learned from my mistakes. Some might think I'm a monster for what happened and I might agree with that.

The reason why she was angry with Jess..is because he said he loved her..and ran away.. I'm Team Jess all the way.. BUT.. in the beginning Jess had a crummy way of dealing with things.. He never talked to Rory.. he ran away without telling her... I think they would have ended up together.. after Jess grew up..and matured.. I will admit she treated him like crud with the whole Logan situation.. when she went to see him.. that was lame of her..but then again.. I always hated Logan.

Jess didn't really have a crummy relationship with Rory or Luke. He was going thorough a lot in the beginning with his mom never really being there and being forced to move to a town he didn't know. Plus the town didn't give him a chance because he was an "outsider." Luke and Rory were the only two people that let him truly be himself until the accident.
