This fills me with melancholy. It’s like the song that plays on the last day of your childhood, and that replays sporadically in your adulthood to remind and haunt you of what you lost, and how comparatively simple and joyful those days used to be. As children, we’re in a desperate rush to grow up. And as adults, we’re in a desperate, quiet sorrow to go back again.

Midwest Emo sounds like how it feels when you walk home from school on a gray autumn day, leaves lining the sidewalks, you feel a drop of rain or two as you cross the threshold into your home. The living room is carpeted, with wooden paneling, and warm yellow lamps replacing the typical ceiling fixtures. This living room is straight from the 60s, just like your parents, who will come home soon and destroy the solitude, instigating some kind of familial discourse instead. That wasn't even my own memory I just described my friend's childhood home lmfao
@MaddoBatto11 ай бұрын
You sure you didn't describe mine? There was so much discourse, we weren't even allowed to enter the house through said wood paneling living room from the 60s (or in my case, the rest of the house was like that, and the living room was a remodeled garage). Instead, everyone except my dad had to enter through the back door, into this weird tiny connecting room between the kitchen and dining rooms (the dining room which became used like a second living room, because the actual living room was being used as my dad's bedroom after he got permanently kicked out of sharing a bed with my mom) Just a big ol spaghetti of "maybe I don't want to come home from school today - sure I'll stay late to help pick up after band practice, and maybe then we can hang out at your place?"

Hiraethe, look it up. Cool term for Nostalgia for something you’ve never known.
@mmarr1711 ай бұрын
@@iansinoz56 that's not what hiraeth actually means. it's a term specific to cymru/wales, meaning a sense of wistfulness or longing for the homeland and its people. not "something you've never known"

@@imthebossmermaid3648 Wrong it's perfectly fine and is letting people have fun in ways that they otherwise couldn't before. Splicing vocals was a thing in the past like the Throught the Fire and Flames but it's Steam Hams creation but thanks to AI you can now record audio and use AI to turn it into a character singing it instead. It still IS made by humans you fucking goober. The AI can't do it without human assistance and the mixing and mastering that goes into it is also human lol.

BRO. This morning I was talking to some people about Arthur at Spirt Halloween… then this evening I was talking to my husband about Midwest Emo… AND THEN MY PHONE THAT ALWAYS LISTENS TO ME DECIDED TO BECOME EVEN MORE ADVANCED AND START PUTTING MY SEPARATE CONVERSATIONS TOGETHER TO SUGGEST THIS SONG TO ME- Arthur Theme Song but in Midwest Emo! Haha I am shooketh but it’s a great cover so I’m not entirely mad.

The specific episode you opened with hit me hard, as I was the annoying little sister to my older brother, and there were a couple of times he got physical - never in a truly bad way, but enough that I identified completely with D.W. there. This clip triggered a memory for me I wasn't ready for, a bit bittersweet remembering the real life struggle, but the comfort of finding a mirror of my experience on TV that helped me to understand everything and be more sympathetic for my brother (and be a little less obnoxious lol). ALSO, since the whole point of the video is a Midwest Emo (lol) version of the theme song and not a trauma dump, I absolutely love this song. I know it might be just a loop, but if you can make it a bit longer, even just repeating some verses and more instrumental, I would love love love that too! 2 minutes isn't enough!
