Starfield is incredibly bland. I was calling it "Space Skyrim" after the first few hours, and it turns out that's too much praise. So much of the game seems shoehorned in, the story is ill-conceived and poorly realized. I haven't played enough Baldur's 3 or Armored Core 6, but maybe those games would be fertile for drinks? Or maybe bad/mediocre games are the ones that most need drinks, because they help dull the edge of disappointment?

I thought the obvious joke with the Departure Time, given the combination of its name and description, is that it's not really one specific drink, it's just a way to quickly order "Hey, bartender, I want one more drink because I gotta go" and he makes you the quickest drink he can out of whatever he has closest at hand when you ask, presumably something cheap.

Between this and the Cyberpunk episode, game designers should just enlist the channel to create drinks like Easter eggs in the game and include the recipes as part of unlocking it
@MissingmyBabbu11 ай бұрын
Recipes might be hard, though, considering some of these drinks were made with specialty liquors. Like you can say 'this is vodka and lime' or 'this is beer and whiskey' but if you have to specify a brand or get too specific, you run into issues with copyright. Then there's also the Jack Thompson holdouts who will claim giving cocktail recipes is encouraging 'kids' to drink (despite iirc Starfield being rated M?).
@wrafflelol61010 ай бұрын
@MissingmyBabbu you could definitely work around that pretty easy, instead of juegermister you could just say liquorice liquor
@HOSER92210 ай бұрын
@@MissingmyBabbu An M rating means 17 and up. In most places that's still between 1 to 3 years before legal drinking age. It's also a suggestion, not a requirement, and most parents are willing to ignore it for better or worse. On the matter of specific brands, it's very easy to come up with parody names and similar visual designs on the in game art to elude to real world brands, similar to what fallout did with Nuka Cola, or how a ton of anime put "WacDonalds" restaurants into backgrounds of shots. For example: adding a liqueur into a game called "Meister" with art of a familiar green bottle featuring a wolfs head on the label. It's legally distinct, but everyone is gonna know what it is.

I'm almost convinced at this point with how often descriptions of cocktails in video games and their appearance not matching is just a long running joke. Lemons and limes often get confused because of the origin of the citrus itself in which the term "lemon" was used to often denote citrus of all types rather than merely what we today think of as a traditional yellow lemon (hence why in many Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants, if you want a lime with your drink instead of a lemon you have to ask for "limón verde" - literally green lemon - rather than asking for a "limón" in your drink).

Crush tusk and muddle with a bit of salt. Mix with third of juice. Take remainder of juice and mix with rum, then float that on top. 'Ole RagTag This one's for pops. Man always wants to try what you're drinkin, then he doesn't take more than a swig. I wasn't feeling quite myself the other day, so I did what I do best. Mixed a bit of everything we got and my day got a lot better. Moonwalker - 2 part soda - 1 part top shelf dark liquor of choice - Crushed special leaves -3 drops of that neon fish oil. Careful here, its potent. For our more refined killers. Make salt rim with crushed leaves. Mix soda and liquor, drop fish oil and gently swirl on surface. Sprinkle a bit more crushed leaves on top. love your show, not sure if anyone already mentioned it and just putting it out there for educational purposes. Shochu and Soju are very different however, I understand why so many people mix it up. for 1, it is spelled similar and 2 because it is spelled similarly, Shochu is often spelled as Soju when it is imported in the early days. However the two are very different. Best way to know the difference is that one bottle will use Japanese while the other uses Korean. Soju(korean) is like a vodka that is sometimes lightly sweetened. It is a spirit that is distilled a few times to get a high alcohol % then diluted down to 12-30% alcohol. So it is a nearly tasteless spirit unless sweetened heavily or lightly. 30% soju is more often used to infusing ingredients. Shochu follows a similar process beginning like whiskey and possibly a white rum if not mistaken. I know you are very familiar with rum and I am not. Shochu(Japan/one of Japan's secrets for their spirits) starts with a Mash that can be Barley, Rice, Sugars, or Sweet potatoes. Though it doesn't have to be one of those 4. It is distilled only once using a pot still and only a pot still usually producing something around 40% then cut with water to bring it down to around 20-25%. Distilled only once to retain more of the flavors from the original ingredient.

Highly recommend getting a 5lbs CO2 canister, regulator, and quick connect adaptor to carbonate stuff with gas. A top up on the canister is under $20 and is literally two 710mL bottles a day for over a year. Alternatively, there's probably a mod you can do to your drinkmate to adapt a CO2 canister into it.

This was as good as I'd hoped it would be! I think the image of the Departure Time is wrong too; but I'm pretty sure the concept behind it is people trying to get that last drink before departing, and the bartender just grabs whatever they have at hand. Should make for a pretty unique experience almost every time. Another one I can't imagine anyone seriously doing is the Conscription Ale/Ritewine/Grey Whisk(e)y from the Dragon Age lore. Codex entry; 'Perhaps local to a handful of Grey Warden companies, these spirits reflect a custom-or legend-born of utility. Allowed to seize goods to aid their cause, Wardens combine half-full bottles to save space while traveling. Never fully emptied or-as with a kettle-cleaned, each eventually takes on a base flavor as unique as the Warden carrying it.' I always wondered what wild and crazy combinations would come from never emptying a bottle, but just refilling it with whatever the adventurer found along the way. Might be we have to wait for the apocalypse to happen to really find out. haha But maybe you could do a sample of what your Conscription Ale would be using what you want, or what you'd expect to find on your adventures. (not sacrificing a bottle of course; maybe samples all combined in a single glass; measurements would have to be poured at random, since you never know how much you'd have left before continuing your adventure!)

Im gonna be honest, and keeping it PG...But how the Eff do you not have 5 million subscribers yet?!? I hate the KZbin algorithm, this dude does everything from scratch, and doesn't copycat recipes...I hope you blow up a lot more soon, you are a delight to watch while enjoying a drink myself!

Would be great fun to see Greg have a sparkle in his eyes after sitting down with Baldurs Gate 3, seems much more like it's up his alley. Also, some weird concoctions from BG3 would make a great video I think

When you introduced the chimera cocktail I had thought I heard Camaro, and now I need a muscle car cocktail themed episode from you (Dunno what that would entail, but it sounds fun)

Hey Greg, I understand if you weren't too taken with Starfield, but I was hoping to see what you would come up with for the Disastrous Shipwreck. The description for that is "A cocktail of soda, dark rum, and creme de menthe, with a pinch of gunpowder." I took that last bit as a dash of gunpowder gin but couldn't really come up with the rest.

I think these are some of your most inspired episodes. I would love to see more BTS of the process of creating unconventional cocktails like this.

I agree about the game. It began to start feeling like a chore pretty quickly.

"Sochu" is a still way of distillation all unique to Japan, see also their rums, which fall into the agricole wider category. Best I describe it is a wider way of making "brandy" as in distilled wine in a way preserving nearly all flavours, yam sochu are very yam-y for example. Also "plum wine" could be described as a wrong localization of a cousin-to-apricot liqueur. Much like amaretto, infusing in alcohol and sugar for a long time makes the defensive poison making compounds innert.

I love this show formula. Always cool to watch you build drinks video companies know nothing about.

I wasn't a big fan of the game tbh. I actually regret buying it 😅 Your video is perhaps the most entertainment I've gotten out of Starfield yet.
