Why not trying a new series? "The Colony" where you maybe limit it to 50ppl and you all trying to build a "New Home" where everyone have a job to do like some does the computer etc and you then trade with each other would be very interesting if this would possible

I was thinking the same thing but with fewer people. It is very difficult to manage that many people, that's why corporations have h.r departments. It would be cool to see the power company , or the concrete company. Have each group consist of about 4 people with one being the manager. You could even set it up to where people could work in shifts so you could include more people but not bog down the server.

Yes the griefing thing has to be gotten under control. Would be nice if persons or groups could own structures so they can not be removed by some random player.

I think I have an idea for your server. Keep it on. Give it to one of your Patreons. That person has to pick a team of 4 players. Give them 1 month and then you showcase their builds and progress.

Well I don’t think solar panels would be OP if they designed an entire weather system and adjusted resources but it wouldn’t be a tier 1 tech and wouldn’t be that great later on compared to dirty sources.

Shared nodes would potentially work by having a storage box then later a truck stop connected to the raw ore that folk could draw from. You would also need a power grid dedicated to powering the shared stuff.

You should do one that players are not allowed to make anything that automates stuff. So no miners, assemblers, constructors to name a few. Transportation is allowed. Craft bench, and work stations are allowed as they are manual automation. Storages would still be allowed as well as conveyer belts. End game, I see there being portable miners on every node, with people in cars driving around and collecting supplies and transporting it to outposts, which in turn transfer them to the main base where the HUB, space elevator, and all the players are auto crafting supplies.

- Buiding perms need to be added for sure. - Only admins should be allowed to remove another player's building. Maybe even a "Wipe All" option to remove all things built by a single player, in the event they're griefing. - Needs more optimizing, seems like the frame rate drops were due to too much server-side info being stored and accessed, the actions can simply be delayed and added server-side after a few seconds, to prevent log spamming, I know some game devs prefer storing files/info server-side to avoid cheating, (locally stored game info is notoriously easy to edit/cheat) but for servers larger than like 6 people it may be needed. These things aside, I enjoyed seeing some people actually attempt to work together

I mean he mentioned the issue of having to share nodes and hubs but once this is out on Early Access it should be possible to include mods. Some mods that already exist include, All Pure Nodes, Buildable Resource Nodes, and Hub Terminals.

11:55 Mods shouldnt be an issue since the server itself does not have then, any mod the player has is trying to run on their client and cannot affect the server, like if you install a Qol mod on your client it will help you out but wont affect the server because all the processing for the mod is being done on the client Edit: you can think of it like a Minecraft texture pack, the client replaces old textures with new textures defined in the .zip, and those textures if they are really detailed and hard for the computer to process it will slow down the clients computer, but will not effect the server

@@c_death Yeah, running mods will cause the server to detect them and show them in log files, but they wouldnt be filling up a 2tb drive so my guess is the shear number of players on the server is causing the server to fill up its drive because its trying to save the player data of every single player that has ever logged on to the server lol, imagine if a dedicated server with 50-60 players managed to get to late game, wonder how much storage they would need

I just recently thought it would be cool to have a server where you build "realistic" factories and ALL the resource transportation is done by players in trucks or trains and the conveyor belts must be in reasonable distances/somehow restricted

The blue factory that got griefed was mine. I painted everything blue and put down beacons that labeled everything with "the1337moderate". I had to leave for 45 minutes to feed the kids and when I came back it was all gone. I was pissed and just quit.

I can't even imagine how annoying it would be to be a part of something like this. 10 people would be fine, because there are few enough people to where coordination is possible and nobody will just be an outright asshole for no reason because there is peer pressure not to do that, but with 100, there are so many people that everyone would have the mindset that they both deserve to be someone who will lead and coordinate the factory, and that there would be no moral reprehension from being an asshole and griefing everyone else for fun. At that point I would just have to start walking somewhere in one direction until I'm sure that I can just do my thing without someone wandering to my factory and griefing it.

Now I'm wondering if my server would do better with such a high user count. An actual dedicated server (DL580 80threads, 176GB RAM with 500Mbit download 200Mbit upload speed) surely has to do better than a rented "server"...

the main problem is that client net config is capped at 64kbps and it needs to be changed manually by users for bow. I believe that causes a lags for most cases. Also server is not optimized for multicore processing

I you eve played with someone else hosting the game you should know that it is buggy ... The more stuff you build the worse it gets ... The creatures attacking you appear out of nowhere and are laggy, the toxic cloud is invisible and the worst part (and i woul like you to check it out) is that only host can setup a train (i mean set its path stops etc). I could build the track around the world but when i tried to set a train it would not let me iclicked it and when i confirmed it it just simply disapeared....

Yeah, it's definitely a shame. This is where the fact that you get materials back from buildings you delete is actually a disadvantage... it's easier to loot than make your own from scratch, so there will always be some people that are willing to do that.
