Drama indeed 😵 Floor polish was my first gloss but it didn't work well with the brush so I stopped using it. I am also surprised it worked so well with the airbrush!

I’ve seen doll customs, so here’s an advice for you. When removing a doll’s head, like a Barbie, try putting the head in hot water first, until it’s soft and squishy, then you can remove the head off of the neck peg easier. I do suggest looking up doll customs and repaints for any more tips on doll/toy customization, like Dollightful and Hextian. I hope this helps!

Amazing Custom!!! Love it. As a toy customizer myself, I recommend a few small steps. First add a wire between the 2 pieces you are connecting. The add super glue as a temp gluing (it won't last) . Lastly add Apoxie Sculpt to the seam and that will help lock it in.

Thank you! I have tried that with a previous project but maybe I didn't drill the hole deep enough or the glue I used suck cos the wires couldn't even stay in place long enough for me to fill the gaps in 😂

Omg I know right! I painted this under 3 sets of lights and after I brought it out into the other room, the face just darkened SO much. I think I really need to constantly take the heads out to see their true color under natural light before I continue painting 😭

Yes, this face was much better, this Bo peep is 100% identical to the animation design. I was excited to see the face up but the whole part about the hands was amazing. I like how each finger was sculpted together but made like a real hand separated and then just posted. Companies who make Character dolls from Disney, Pixar, and other awesome films, should really look into this method and do a test line of dolls made like this. Definitely going to like because would love to one day see a lamp version of Bo, that be cute and cool to see replicated in the future.

On the channel, Catmeleon, when she goes to repose her dolls, she uses a wire and then epoxy to reconnect. That may be one way to try when you have limbs that can't be hidden by fabric

Hi there im facinated with your project and have a Mini too. I noticed that when I scanned allready painted figures, I have to increase the protector light while scanning (like you did - above Level 5) but then the scans are (like yours) to sharp/noisy/uneven. Did you really brushed about everything in zbrush to have a crisp and smooth scan?

Painted figures are generally harder to scan and the mesh will be rougher but as you have seen, I don't really need them to capture all the details but just the overall shape and size, so I'm not too bothered about it. But for unpainted, it has no trouble capturing the details. You might want to try a scanning spray that will evaporate after a few hours to cover up the paints when you scan.

I allready tried aesub scanning spray, but the stuff is also creating an uneven surface and does not evaporate completely.. yeah better than priming all over the paintjob but still not great. Photogrammatry on the other hand is not exact, so I still want to use the scanner. Only solution I could think of is creating a silicone mold, cast it in white and then scan it, but that's kinda inefficient;(

You would probably have to drill holes, and put wire in the arms to reattach them, then go in with the apoxie sculpt to fill the gaps. Also, dunking vinyl heads in boiling water softens them up real good, heat guns are scary. XD Btw, do you have any recommendations for heads that go on the made to move Ken body? I want to make a custom, but the sculpted hair on the Ken doll is not my cup of tea.

Pledge floor gloss is like gold dust , it's discontinued here for unknown reasons. If you can get it ,put it on eBay at 5x cost. For pulling heads off and similar brute force applications, sticky rubber coated cotton builders gloves from diy shop are great ,they have texture like enlarged fingerprints. I'm being kept busy with my broken car exhaust, dad's car has electric gremlin and won't ign or turn off acc ,loose ends on the shed to do(video is up now) , a desk still in camera workshop mode,(making 18650 camera grip bc Sony camera batteries are garbage) a load of my tools are in the wrong house and I also have a lawnmower to fix. The list goes on. Anyway. That upgraded scanner looks like the product the first one should have been. Skintones across different materials is a total trap. Keep well and look after yourself. Not hitting the like button because I think you read her character well.

Dang, my local store literally just sold out on that specific Pledge product and switched to another packaging. Not sure if it's the same content, but I doubt I will be finishing mine any time soon. Ahh gloves... I never thought about getting those, maybe I will. The new scanner is only meant for small items but if they could integrate both blue light and infrared light into one whole scanner, yeah that would be THE scanner to get. Haha, that's the first time I don't mind the like button not being pressed 😉
