The glue is absorbed into the fibers and grains of the wood where it eventually cures. In a bottle, the glue can't absorb into plastic or silicone, so it remains uncured.

I’ve mostly seen the first and sometimes second versions of these builds and I say keep remaking them! It’s enjoyable to see someone approach a project they’ve done before, refine it, use new tools, etc. I am much more likely to watch a new version of a project that’s been done before than to go back and watch one from years earlier, for what it’s worth.

I actually have a tray that my wife’s grandmother asked me to fix because it was missing trim and had veneer chips out on a handle. I fixed the veneer, remade all the trim to match, but ran into a problem as I tried to poly over everything. The surface of the tray has a hand painted spray of flowers that spread from the left bottom to top middle. Sadly, it separated and I never got it finished before she passed about 10 months after I had started it. I still would love to finish it, but I can’t find images from trays made back in the 40’s (if I remember correctly). Ever had an issue like this? I am afraid to remove the poly over the paint because the flowers will go with it. I don’t have the skill to remake them.

Nice build! Might check your guide bearings on your bandsaw something might be out of wack or dragging, that’s the only variable outside the blades changing in quality control I can think of.

The only change I'd make is to embed magnets in it so the legs are held in place when up. Of course, I probably don't get as good of a fit as you do, so for me they'd be necessary.

1:56 Merry Christmas to you and yours. From the podcast with the boys to your books to your ever fresh rethinking of your approach to your videos, i've been an avid fan / customer / consumer for many years - especially the LOLs. Firstly, thank you. Secondly, and far less interestingly, I have an Adobe Illustrator question. You appear to use Shape Builder to ‘blend’ two circles, and for the life of me, I couldn’t recreate the technique. Any tips?

Will thicker plywood warp if you only veneer one side? Say 1/2" or 3/4"?

1/2 might but I've had good luck with only 1 side of 3/4

I would assume wood glue dries under vacuum for the same reason water boils at a lower temp under vacuum. Is it possible the saw blades are now made in China with cheaper materials? Merry Christmas, David and family!
