Cool project! At first, you don't think much of the knot until you realize that metal isn't usually that bendy. It's a great present for my father-in-law whose birthday is coming up. Thanks for the idea!

Yep that’s gonna sting a bit! But not as much as putting an angle grinder across your big toe knuckle. 😳

piece of 10 carbon steel welded behind the horn for a cutting step. (BTW - I hate grinding too. - A lot of that would have gotten burned)

Burning it would be the smart way, I was just trying to use simple tools on the channel if I can.

G’day Gav. I’ve just bought the 38 cc with the 18” bar and I have been using it for firewood cutting. This little saw goes beautifully for its size, cheers 🍻.

Looks like you'd have made it a lot easier on yourself if you'd started with the two flat bars, and left the welding of the rebar knot for last. That would've left all your drill locations accessible throughout the build, and allowed you to drill and chamfer the holes comfortably without that rebar sitting in the way, and without having to use that drill extension, which not all of us have. Is there a reason you chose this particular order? Bloody nice shelf supports though. I'm already envisioning how one could produce these more efficiently by using a custom bending jig to keep everything aligned and symmetrical as the rebar is being bent, in case you'd want to use them in larger quantities throughout the house. Definitely doable.

This was the first one, so I was designing it as I went, now I have one I like measurements and templates are made, the next ones are much more efficient. Cheers, thank you for your comment.

It does look stunning. But i have to ask: is the Rebar really just for decoration? Why not weld the knot at the backside to make it a strong structural part?
@GavinClarkdiy
@GavinClarkdiy Күн бұрын
The knot is kinked very tight, so it is solid, but a small weld would make it stronger, but I don't think it is needed. Cheers

Are u lpg or oxy for the heating mate. I can decide if I want to go full oxy/ac or lpg as it’s cheaper
@GavinClarkdiy
@GavinClarkdiy 13 күн бұрын
Hi Kevin, my thoughts, Oxy is much quicker than LPG, but like LPG, if you don't see a flame in any of my videos, I did not use heat at all on that project, and if you do see a flame it was LPG, I have not used oxy on this channel at all. It is mainly because of the cost, plus I have LPG bottles here anyway, I don't want two more. I hope that helps.
