So we have something called Dale's marinade and it was made in Birmingham Alabama in 1946 apparently. It's soy sauce with corn syrup and garlic onion and paprika powder and people around here marinade everything in it. Steaks and burgers of course, but we also have a lot of wild game that it really helps tone down some gamey flavors. It doesnt seem to be quite as thick as kecap manis so I assume it isn't quite as sweet, but if you can get a bottle you may wanna try it and compare it to your marinade

It looks, it tasted like a Sate Kambing (Lamb) for me.. I mean, we almost cooked everything with kecap manis all the time in here, especially when it comes to bbq. You know, they have kecap product which already consists of spices. I don't know whether they exported it, but we do have it here. It called Kecap Manis Pedas. Try it on. You won't regret it.

Thank you for this great video. However, sweet soy sauce is not called "ketchup". Its Terriyaki. Also, I highly doubt that the additional ingredients you threw in actually made their way into the steak. I would heat the sauce up a bit and then cool it before marinating. Otherwise, bravo!

I like making a sweet and spicy marinade using Dale's liquid steak seasoning or soy sauce, meat tenderizer, minced garlic, black pepper, cayenne pepper, ginger, and brown sugar. I heat it up a bit to help release the garlic taste and melt the sugar. Once it cools a bit I put my steaks in ziploc bags and pour my marinade in. The ziploc bags allow you to massage the steak inside the marinade if you choose to. Using a bag also allows you to use less marinade reducing waste.

@@joMan1060 Kecap Manis and Kicap Manis is the same thing. We Malaysians still use ABC, its just that Kecap is spelled as Kicap in Malaysia. And yes, ABC Kecap Manis is the one of the best Kicap Manis around, although Malaysia have brands like Adabi, Lee Kum Kee, Habhal's, Healthy Boy Brand, Jalen, etc. ABC taste real good, but some other brands can taste better that ABC depending on what you are using it for eg. lamb, mutton, pork, chicken, beef.....

When you were talking about it like you were kind of torn between the two it’s because you’re comparing it to a great steak. My guess is that process would be a good way to go on cheaper quality meat. You’re taking really good meat and infusing what flavor but if you take very boring meat without much flavor and infuse it you can make it a lot better instead of just different or a little better, I’m guessing.
