Great review. Thank you. I always felt like the previous Model 3 wasn’t quite good enough in terms of styling and road noise and suspension. Now it is a truly excellent car. You could buy some other Mercedes or Lexus or Audi or BMW for more money and you wouldn’t really be getting much more in terms of comfort or performance or luxury. The ventilated cooled seats are really important for people in hot climates who have to wear dress clothes to an office job.

@@djplonghead5403 It depends on the car. Tesla's can preheat (or cool) the battery, so it doesn't affect driving performance or charging (including regenerative braking) as long as you enable per-conditioning and use the in-car navigation when driving to Tesla Superchargers. It does affect the range especially when preconditioning when not plugged in at home, but newer models use a heat pump for heating, which takes about 1/3rd of the energy compared to resistive heating. I only commute a short distance and could charge at work and at home, but even in the winter the range is plenty so I usually end up charging it only once per week, Friday night at home.

I think indicating at smaller roundabouts where you have the wheel turned more is a problem. A US company is already working on bringing back the stalks as an aftermarket accessory.
@kabob21
@kabob21 6 ай бұрын
It boggles my mind people are willing to waste money on such an inconsequential thing. Folks need to signal at a roundabout so bad and it’s such a brain tease you can’t figure out a fixed button location on the steering wheel?
@YTuberosity
@YTuberosity 6 ай бұрын
The reality of thinking where a button is on the steering wheel, mid-manoeuvre whilst the wheel is at 90 degrees or more is probably more annoying than one thinks, but only for the smaller roundabouts of course. When you don't have to turn the wheel that much for larger roundabouts I'm sure it isn't a problem. Europe has more roundabouts per capita than the USA so it probably wouldn't matter so much in the USA. It will be interesting how the Europeans feel about this in actual practice.@@kabob21

@@jfulProblem is that our natural instinct is to look at the steering wheel to locate the buttons and then move your hand to touch the buttons since they are no longer in their default location. Their positioning is constantly changing since they're on the wheel now. This means people are taking their eyes off the road for a short moment in the middle of a turn. Seems like it's an entirely unnecessary complication when a fixed stalk kept the indicators in an unchanging location.
@jwstolk
@jwstolk 6 ай бұрын
I have learned that the bottom one is the one I what to signal exiting the roundabout. (I don't drive a lot so it took me a few weeks) There are rare awkward situations, but for normal crossings, lane changes and small roundabouts it's fine.

Heh, even though I know people who hate EVs, I have my doubts too. However, I am still fascinated by the technology, especially in Teslas. The transmission if you want to call it that reminds me of a neighbor we had in the early ‘60’s, had a Plymouth with a push button transmission. Tesla’s shifter reminds me of that no stalk, it’s either swipe the screen or push a button on beneath the sunshade over the windshield. Wow! The new model 3 sounds like it’s really nice! All I can say is this..those who feel that EVs are going to fail are too short term oriented. All I know is they, especially Tesla are selling like hotcakes. So much for failure, eh?

It's funny as i did a test drive a couple of days ago.....and i massively overestimated the new Tesla Model 3!, but i'm coming from a 2022 M3P so have had a lot of the 'upgrades' already compared to pre 2021. I found it a bit underwhelming tbh, I expected too much i guess. Compared to the outgoing model the differences are not that big, its more of an incremental upgrade...if anything the tangible difference is similar to the facelift from a 2019 to a 2021. The best and only real things that are improved are the seats and ride quality. That is noticeably better, not massively but definitely a nice improvement - but a chunk of that is down to the relatively soft tyres and 18" vs 20". The rest is pretty much all the same, although some downgrades as far as I'm concerned are the stalk removal (of course) and the lack of ultrasonic sensors. The steering also feels lighter, even in sport - personal preference but i like heavier steering, this might just be because it RWD model and i'm comparing against a performance. As a reminder the 2021 facelift vs a 2019/2020, gave you : Electric boot/trunk, front acoustic glass, black exterior trims, matrix led headlights (not enabled still), heat pump, faster AMD media processor (2022 models), higher res/quality screen, better build quality (shanghai), better ride quality,, better noise insulation, dual phone chargers and higher quality centre console. The 2024 improves on some of these areas still but not massively, if anything i'd argue the diff btwn a 2019 and a 2022 is slightly more tangible than a 2022 to the new 2024 (outside of more obvious exterior styling differences) If you are coming from a pre-2021 facelift or this is your first Tesla, then assuming the lack of stalks is a non issue for you, then it is a really nice and still arguably the best EV in this price segment....not worth the upgrade from a 2021 onwards though.
@TeslaJigsaw
@TeslaJigsaw 6 ай бұрын
Fair enough, but I politely disagree. There are many improvements & upgrades, too many for me to mention in this video (but have spoke of them in my previous upgraded Model 3 vids) 10% more range, ventilated seats, rear screen, ambient lighting, better looks inside & out, noticeable ride comfort & soundproofing, larger boot/trunk, doors close with a lovely thud now... plus many other things. I'd say that's quite a difference personally. Perhaps the performance Model when that's released might wow you a little more? Thanks for your comments though 👍🏼
@blower1
@blower1 6 ай бұрын
@@TeslaJigsaw Oh there are plenty of little bits, but they're mainly just that - little bits. Outside of the 2 main things mentioned, seats and ride quality/NVH, there isn't much else that is really a tangible benefit, some of that may change as software improves and utilises HW4 - but anything like that is in 'Tesla Time'.....i'm still waiting for my auto wipers to be at least half as good as what i had in my first car - a 2005 VW Golf. Boot is no larger btw, same interior size and opening as measured on a few other channels. The rest is a big upgrade from a pre-facelift, but point i was making is it's an overall small/incremental upgrade from the outgoing facelift model......there are 2 main upgrades and the rest is mainly a few gimmicks (interior ambient led strip) and a few styling tweaks (which are subjective on if they're better) The performance version is rumoured to be quite a significant upgrade, hopefully so as the performance model never differentiated itself enough imo.

@@waynerussell6401 I don't know why people don't understand the term 'tangible'...100% parts could be changed, but if 90% looks the same with the same or similar function then tangible difference is small. @@TeslaJigsaw I Agree with @blower1 I drove my 2023 RWD to the showroom and then drove the Highland version over the exact same ground immediately for a good comparison. Before I continue It's not like I have buyers remorse I am genuinely looking for a second EV for my wife and this was in contention. The ride was SLIGHTLY better over bumps - not a world of difference to the old model, the cabin was SLIGHTLY quieter not very much different. The handling is slightly worse in high speed corners, the ambient lighting is meh take it or leave it, as is the interior finish, it's different to the outgoing but doesn't excite. I'm not in the back seat so as I driver I don't care what's back there in terms of screens. The ventilated seats were noisy and pretty underwhelming in performance (it was 39 C/ 102F ) - obviously better than nothing compared to the old model but probably the worst ventilated versions I have experienced. The trunk/boot has no real extra usable space - the lid is a lightly different shape and they are counting the space between the speaker mounts so unless you are carrying a liquid or a something that conforms to the shape it's no different. Now I'm no luddite but the removal of the stalks in Australia (mainly the indicator) are a disaster - I spent almost an hour persevering with the buttons, in anything but ideal conditions they are a complete fumble fest - it's not just roundabouts where you need to signal both in and out, several times I needed to do a quick right, then left within 60ft/20m or vice versa - the buttons end up upside down on the other side of the wheel - at an impossible angle to activate with your left thumb - I couldn't wait to get out and leave it behind. The doors have a nicer sound yes - is this a tangible benefit? - debatable, I wouldn't pay extra for this feature. And looks are subjective but I prefer the old model i.imgur.com/Se8v6tX.jpg

The standard range model only has nine speakers and not the 17 you quoted. As a self professed Tesla fan boy I would have thought you would have known this and been able to audibly tell the difference. The upgraded sound system apart from range and increased performance are one of the only differences. Sorry I don’t mean to be a d*ck but as a channel that is more aimed towards Tesla, people may take what you say as gospel and possibly purchase on based on your knowledge. So the correct details on range by model and key feature differences really need to be accurate.
