Yes, although he does gratify himself a lot in talking and giving us (I have even felt used by him talking about himself while I am in acute need of someone listening to me a bit too. Thinking of his 12-step course), and he has got massive help from the 12-step community in working his 12 steps and is good at getting love and support. + Social help. A male narcissist is good at evoking the sympathy and to get súpport, as compared with a female co-dependent who loves and gives too much, and doesn't get help herself,- not knowing how to even, and being too depleted to efficiently use the knowledge she gathered, for her own complex self.. So glad for Russell's sake, and want to receive the same help.. .before it is too late. Does he live in London? If I write to London, will it reach him Or be lost as fan post?

@@Medietos I see what you mean but I just think it’s important to remember that a man of his level of fame and recognition doesn’t need to do ANY of the stuff he’s doing, let alone posting free videos on KZbin. If you truly need someone to listen to you, which I agree is a valid and important point, then I don’t think a celebrity is the person to go to and that you should find that in someone who has dedicated their life to helping people like you and me since day one. I don’t think an A list celebrity is the person to put that level of trust and confidence in and that you should find someone who is truly dedicated to your mental health and well-being because you do make a valid point and I hope you find that. Just don’t think that’s the point of his videos is to find that in him. He’s just sharing his thoughts and methods for how he’s found himself and how we can learn to find ourselves too but his life doesn’t cater to being all of our therapists yknow?

@@Medietos I agree with Nick, you do have a point, and it would be nice if we could talk to Russel, but we can't and we don't necessarily have to either. He does admit he has these troubles and is trying to work through them while everyone is watching basically. He still drives a fancy Land Rover and lives a fairly posh life and should not worry one bit about the common folk like us, but yet he does. I think what you expressed is the root of many of our problems. We try to look for the answer in other people, instead of focusing on ourselves and what we can do today to make today a nicer day. Maybe plan a bit of things to make it a nice week/month/year... But the problem with many of us, including me, is that instead of focusing on what we can do for ourselves TODAY, we worry about the future. We then get caught up in all sorts of nonsense that doesn't truly serve us to try and help to ease the anxiety we cause with our own mind by worrying about our future.

@@nickkeirn4638 Thanks, although I didn't tell you my situation and history, which might make you write me differently. I wrote a reply to Nick, but It was not yet allowed, but says "returned error", without saying what. I have removed many things and his name etc, but it still has not yet been accepted, That feels awfúl, your unknowing, prejudiced dismissal. We people often think we can judge others by ourselves, and miss the fact that each one is an individual, their own kind! He wouldn't have come to where he has without outer help, that is my point. Viking Joe Bloggs are you saying it’s difficult because you have a hard time “not thinking”? It’s not about not thinking, it’s about witnessing your mind and observing what is happening without judgment. Focus on your in and out breath, if your mind wanders, don’t judge it or get frustrated, have compassion, and return your attention back to your breath. Approach meditation with no expectations of certain outcomes.

Dr B it’s funny how you say that we are one and the same with the universe yet did you know that Anton Lavey (the founder of the church of Satan) also believes in this ‘universe’ that you speak of. So if you and a person who has given his life to Satan for all eternity (his words not mine) both believe in the same thing, then what is it that you’re really believing in? Trust me I used to be a firm believer in all this ‘universe and meditation stuff’ till I saw how demonic this is. Depression is a way for your brain to tell you to get off your ass and make a positive change in your life or your Going to be miserable forever. So do it. Unless you wanna be depressed make a positive change in your life. Do some shit your afraid to do. Do some shit you don’t like doing. Suffer and build a tolerance to fear. And you will feel depression slowly leave your mind as you grow into a human being you never thought you could become

Chad Boy True, also false. Could never know until you feel it. Depression is your brain, bleeding. Obviously harder to fix since you can’t see physical cuts but it’s there. If only people knew how to cover those cuts. Truth and Love. Connection to the collective Consciousness, family and friends, and Oneness as Russell Brand has said. Goals set for growth as a Man and a Human. Responsibility & discipline. Health. These are all bandages but it is hard. Especially when doctors stuff drugs in your system to numb the pain. Know the truth. No goals in life, no friends, no purpose, no responsibility, no desire are knives cutting at your brain. Soon you’ll go insane. The Truth I laid out will set you free.

@@ris7879 When I try n meditate, all I feel is distracted by my daily pains. Burning eyes, chronic pain in left rhomboids, scapula, itches everywhere etc.... I don't seem to be able to stop noticing all my pains n itches. I have fibromyalsia see. I wish meditation could be good for handling fibromyalsia, but it seems to just make me notice the symptoms worse. I will keep trying though. I think I'm mediating most of the time anyway. On my own, in bed alot, not talking to anyone etc... I'm sort of always meditating. Need to side step all the thoughts and emotions tough that spiral through my head most of the time.

I have had a profound experience with the Mooji/ meditation. Just emptying, where I am fully detached from the mind. Been doing this meditation for 2 days and have had profound experiences...I am able to stay in the emptyness and reside in that quietness. It is the quietness, the actually awareness is what I have been looking for. I was feeling back lashes of anxiety and decided to do the Mooji meditation, I found myself in this amazing calmness, indiscribable....and I was able to hold that present moment all evening after that. The anxiety left me. Russell, I have come to understand, that I am not my thoughts. The thoughts has my voice but it is not who I am. Who I am is the witnessing of these thoughts that I have thought was myself. This is pure freedom! I am amazed at what is happening. I ve been searching and searching and what I have found is that IT has been with me the whole time. The problem was me identifying with the thoughts all my life, thinking it is who I am, I can honestly say, through practice of meditation, it is nothing of what this mind imagined...Its right here, right now. Crazy! in a good way...It has always been here in me, this beingness

i really liked this alan watts quote, i can’t remember exactly what it was but it was along the lines of “in the organism, the ego functions as a sort of radar. it’s a troubleshooter which specializes in identifying threats in your life. so to identify yourself as your ego is to identify with a constant state of anxiety.” thought i should share because that was a very helpful model for me in identifying my ego.

Actually, here in India, in Hindu households they teach us some expressions of oneness and forget to actually let us understand and imbibe it (we just had to learn to chant them correctly) and then we're sent off to school where we're exposed to many kinds of knowledge but not some of the important things, like compassion, working with the earth, creative thinking, tapping into our ability to make art; we are just learning to clear exams, and then we attend college, and then we struggle to make a living, all the while holding onto the identity of being an Indian or taking credit for the ancient wisdom of this land while we watch around us the most gruesome crimes, rapes, corruption and oppressive systems of caste and religion throttle many humans. I believe most ancient civilizations in the world acknowledged the spirit of oneness, there's the Mayan greeting "In Lake'ch" which translates to "I am another You" for example, we can find this wisdom in all cultures. But the idea is to go beyond these cultural identities, go beyond separation, and accept the darkness in the world today as a consequence of the separation we experience within, and can be overcome only by stripping down our notions of self. Sorry about overlong rant, but I'm tired of seeing the Indian identity trying to exert itself all over KZbin as spiritually advanced and claiming that all the world's wisdom came from here. I love the spiritual tools that emerged from this land but not the way they've been used as eyewash for the state of disruption that prevails here as well as anywhere in the world. Namaste!

I am now filled with the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the truth. The empty void I’ve been trying to fill my whole life is full. The truth was right in front of me all along. It’s now becoming something different. Powerful..the breath, the respect and no judgment of my thoughts and mind. Stepping aside to simply view the thoughts of the past and imagination of the future…practice…the releasing of identity to this vessel is a peaceful place…so I thank you for sharing your journey and inspiring fellow learners☺️🌸 it is easy to tell yourself you can skip meditation this morning I’ll do it later today….but I meditate in the shower as the water touches every single nerve and skin that’s alive. The pressure, the temperature, my muscles responding and waking up as I also let the water pressure gently hit my throat and chest and I can feel if I’m holding onto breath. It’s a great routine. Then again after evening bedtime yoga…zzzzzzzzz🌸

It's soothing when you see another "get it", especially when they are tied to fame and the pressures associated with it. I think our hope, as individuals, is that we instinctively recognize "getting it" when we see it and that gives us hope no matter where we are in our journey. Meditation is one way of re-achieving that state, we are born liberated and learn to become dysfunctional - so to speak. More power to you Russell........thanks.

Yeah, but be aware, where does the sudden motivation come from? Why is this important? If your motivation just went up because you watched a video where you feel inspired, the chance is big you will fall off again. Investigate in why you want to meditate, in what in will mean in your life, what benefits you will get, learn about it, research it. Get a long term vision for your life, and see how meditation fits in that picture. If it's one thing that's important in life is sense of direction. Having a vision. If you don't have one, you'll become part of someone else's. You'll wander through life, not knowing where you belong, just derping around. If you do have a vision, you'll wake up excited and motivated everyday, working on your goals will become something you find pleasant, and it gives you energy. if meditation fits the picture, you'll probably not fall off. If you start meditation just because some video inspired you, then check why, and think in the future

The purpose of my comment was to thank Russell for the video which helped me and happened to be good timing for me, as I said, it helped me so that in itself is a good thing for me. It reminded me that I used to meditate and found it beneficial at that point in my life. You are making quite an assumption that because I was inspired to start again by a video I haven't thought about my life! You appear to be annoyed by that which I find hard to understand. I disagree that I need to be a well-read expert on meditation to gain something from practising it. Just like many other activities, I can benefit from them without understanding how or why they work, not that I wouldn't do so on purpose but it doesn't make it necessary. I also don't agree I need to doggedly continue something all my life just because I started it at some point and found it beneficial. Life's a journey not a rigid linear programme of tasks to become an expert in and a slave to.

@@easytorememberuser I didn't make any assumptions, nor am I annoyed. Maybe I should have phrased it better. I'm not saying you have no clue about your future. I'm also not saying that you have to be a well-read expert on meditation. It just as simple as this: If one wants to have long term succes with something, they should know WHY they are doing it. WHAT you will get out of it. and if it is REALISTIC. Because meditation results build up progressively with time. Just as with building muscles. let's you go to the gym, 3 months, without really taking in account nutrition, and quit afterwards because you did not get results, and you got bored because you did not care that much at all about getting fit. See how this is parallel to any other goal? you ATLEAST have to do research and know what you are doing, I agree, it depends on what you are trying to do. And cool if you only need so much information to achieve your goal, good, then don't worry, you don't have to know every little thing about meditation, but also know that you will not really know about all the options, maybe you can do it more efficiently? maybe another technique that works better for you? Maybe binaural beats, maybe this, that, You won't know, because you did not do extensive research. It has just been my OWN experience that people fall of a habit very quickly when they are not looking at it long term. That's the key to everything, consistency. Again, I'm just saying, be aware of your motivations. No negativity, only trying to help you achieve your goals! Peace brother

I've been meditating for the last 10 years and it COMPLETELY transformed my life. But it took me 6 years to learn how to meditate and have a spiritual awakening. Now with so many people like you sharing their journey, it is possible to achieve that so much faster:) But it was so worth it even if it took 6 years! When you awaken to the spirit realm, you do not need anything outside of yourself anymore, you can find all the answers, all the healing within yourself and this is the ultimate empowerment!❤️And plus, you really start living YOUR life and embody your purpose which leads you to not giving a sh*t about what others think lol. And this is a great change on its own! Let's meditate more haha! Blessings everyone!🙏

Why did it take 6 years to learn how to meditate? Is it that difficult a process? I mean, don't you just focus on a mantra and repeat it daily for a certain amount of time? What were you doing differently that made it take longer? Just wondering as I am doing mantra meditation now and am concerned I might be doing something incorrectly?

Great to hear a fellow human experience this. I feel as though I'm entering this space too. Meditation is the anchor to all but other functions, such as excercise, diet, healthy creative interests, making your home your sanctuary, family all becomes an interlocking part of this awakening. Materialism no longer makes you tick, you have no one to blame but yourself, embrace your demons, you have all the time in the world.

I have just been meditating twice everyday for the last three months and my life has flipped 180. Nothing bad stays with me or with my mind. I feel like I have some supreme control over my emotions and actions. Yes, there still are times when situations seem to go a little out of tune, but that is so temporary that it goes away sooner than anything. Also, I realized that everything which I kept considering bad in my life, taking it as something negative and thinking why did it have to happen? Why I got myself into these situations or why am I not getting out of it already? This all happened in my life for a reason. The universe was indeed preparing me for something way higher than what I was planning to achieve. Every single day and every micro event that takes place now is a beautiful lesson of wisdom that the nature is encouraging me to learn something from. I'm filled to brim with gratitude. Glad to hear your mediation story as well.

I am a Heroin addict, 54 years of age, who has lapsed back into my addiction after my life fell apart. Now that I am trapped in this harsh and cruel state of Being, I find it impossible to transcend. If I reach that state of Bliss, just as I stand on the threshold, I am jolted back to this reality. Literally! It's as if a jolt of electricity courses through my being. No doubt that Russell won't read this and I'm really not sure why I am writing this lol! dmanc1 , This is a ‘high’ as you are getting oxygen into parts of the body you wouldn’t normally. But, by focusing on how you breathe in all situations of your life, this is less fleeting and provides one a constant meditation that one can do anywhere she/he is and will bring about a deeper and longer stillness. Exercise is part of well balanced life, yes, so long as you don’t need to exercise every time you feel uncomfortable. This is not practical. Unless you can make it so.
