RianUK, Greetings, Its suggested that you find a teacher to mentor you on your quest. I would tell you to read books written by Adyashanti. I've been on this quest for almost fourty years and started with TM. Well actually my journey started eons ago. Just remember this isn't about ritual, worshiping statues, images, money or a particular behavior. These are what the Buddha said are attachments. Think of the ego as a separate compartment of your mind. The ego is "problem central" in this journey we are undertaking. The "thing" is to be consciously aware of what is happening...to be awake! Take care!

TM has changed my life 🌻 I’ve struggled with clinical depression and GAD my entire adult life and this is the only thing that has ever given me peace. I had tried so many things to help with this (drugs, other types of meditation, alcohol, yoga) nothing has impacted me as profoundly as TM. After my first time practicing the technique I felt like I had become a new person. It’s worth every penny. I’m current 24 years old and am so happy I found TM. Your thoughts are not your enemy. You don’t always have to numb yourself to escape. We just need to heal and TM is the only thing I’ve come across that helps you heal from within. If you’re watching this video wondering if you should try this, I highly encourage you attend an intro class close to you and get educated on how this practice can help you. Pure consciousness>

It's like a calming bath for the mind. Definitely, read this man's book about it. I couldn't put it down. The cost of learning TM is worth every penny and there's aid for those in need. Once you learn it you have lifetime support from the most wonderful people at TM Centers including retreats, further education, social events, and more. Lastly, I've tried over 4 different types of meditation over the years and TM is by far the most effective, natural, and easiest one for me. you have to pay if you are serious, the TM professional teachers have to live as well as you,they have bills the same as everyone else,and they only get a small percentage of the fee. In any profession you have to pay the fee. do you work many days for nothing? no, there are free or reduced fee lessons to those who have no money,enquire to the nearest TM centre

+John Smith but $1000? Thats pretty damn expensive
@LawsonEnglish8 жыл бұрын
brandon2932 That covers not only your instruction, but a lifetime followup program at any TM Center worldwide. If you are a student the price is lower. If you have financial issues, the local center often has access to scholarships and grants to lower the cost. If you are a homeless vet, or a vet with PTSD or have access to government agencies the David Lynch Foundation works with, you can learn for free. Still a free lifetime followup program, no matter what you paid to learn.
@johnbmtl7 жыл бұрын
How did you learn it?
@gerardowmby71565 жыл бұрын
@@brandon2932 It's a lifetime program. And there are no additional fees if you want your meditation checked or want to attend the advanced weekly meetings anywhere in the world. If I offered you a beautiful home for $1,000 would you think it was expensive? TM is far more important than any house. Compare a one-time payment of $1,000 with what you would pay a psychologist for the rest of your life.

I leared TM a long time ago, and I still meditate, but I have since long begun to try out and practice variations of meditation. I also modulate my practice and methods according to the need I have at the moment. That means that I do not any longer meditate these 20 minutes two times a day, but more according to my daily need. But there is harly any day where I do not meditate, and the techique is really effective.
@LawsonEnglish7 жыл бұрын
From my perspective, there's no such thing as a "variation" of TM as TM is just normal thinking that happens to sorta have a mantra kinda, sorta involved... kinda, sorta.
@knutholt34867 жыл бұрын
Well, the TM company has a very strict definition of TM, and if you go outside their simple, but strict procedure, they will say it is not TM any more. But what so, this is only a disqussion of what you call things. I often use matras I have made myself, I do not necessarily sit upright in a chair, and a lot of other variations. Actually, I begun meditation with selfmade matras long before I took a TM cource, and I found out that i had guessed faurly well what TM is, and my own mantras are better for some purposes than that I learned at TM. By the wy, I know about all the mantras TM use, I think, but my own are as good, actually.

What I have felt that the most subtle difference in Transcendental Meditation that makes it different than all other techniques of meditation is allowing your mind to make your own thoughts your vehicle to take you to a state free from any stressful thought which is your pure conscious. As our body has the capability to heal itself, the best healing takes place in that stress free state. That state may be for a millionth part of a second, with daily meditation that pause keeps growing and your mind start leading you towards health, well being and wisdom and you naturally become a part of the process of peaceful co-existence.

The practice is wonderful. It’s a shame in some quarters it has a shady reputation because of the fee. I learnt 30yrs ago and forgotten most of teaching but just do it and it works

Had my first two out of four sessions already. It's true what he says, it's effortless and very simple. Will finished my course over the following two days.

Thanks!!! My girlfriend really needs this right now. I personally did focused and mindful meditations in any posture you could think of, but for her, focusing just isn't on the table right now. Thank you!!

This is so far the best introduction to TM that I've seen! Great that you mention right off the bat that TM does not have a philosophy or belief.
@AlexAnderson205011 жыл бұрын
Obviously, if TM had a philosophy or some kind of belief system, it would have far less followers in our world where people are repelled by things like that.
@strewf10 жыл бұрын
Alex Anderson Why would anyone follow it? What is there to follow? Having followers usually involves a belief system.
@LawsonEnglish9 жыл бұрын
strewf In a sense, sure. You can "follow" an exercise regimen afterall. "Following the TM program" means to practice TM twice a day, morning and evening, with about 6-8 hours of healthy activity after each session (health issues allowing, of course).
@LawsonEnglish9 жыл бұрын
+strewf TM has been taught to war refugees in Africa with serious levels of PTSD. Their response has been so dramatically positive that the United Nations is conducting its own research to see if TM is really as valuable as the pilot studies say. PTSD isn't something you can just bottle up. Nightmares and flashbacks aren't something you can repress.
@strewf9 жыл бұрын
Lawson English There you go then, it's a palliative. If you have a headache and take an aspirin, you're not addressing the problem. Sure, you could repress nightmares and flashbacks, as they are symptoms of the underlying mental damage. They'll come back when you stop repressing them with mind-numbing. If I owe the mob money and can't pay, and go to a football game to take my mind off my worries, I still owe the money. People with PSTD have to get over it, by facing it and accepting that life and people aren't as nice and neat as they want them to be. PSTD is based in denial of reality, like all mental illness.

My son and I are attending our first class today by a certified TM teacher. I am really excited as I have always been curious about TM. Funny enough, it was always brought to mind listening to Howard Stern’s radio show. He learned the technique at 18 yrs old, and always tells his audience! I’m finally listening Howard . Lol.

I read about this 30 years ago once, was curious and then I changed location and my life and I forgot about it. I have heard learned and tried other meditation and then lately this word has crossed my mind, i made a mental note to check it up, I forgot and just now I just remembered and found this. The TM practice is breathtakingly harmonious and I’ve experienced some very powerful things including MOTHER🙏 as the purest and highest form of Being!!🌈 This effortless has reversed and declined my aging process (as this age-decline and reversal is one of benefits of the TM practice. I’ve seen TM people who have experienced this and improvement of health, another benefit. End result, reversal of age, which expands longevity improves health along the way, as practicing students continue to expand awareness, increase coherence and mental clarity all are just SOME of the good benefits associated with Transcendental Meditation!!🎉

Thanks 4 making this video explaining what TM is not, because so many try to say it's bad or something when it's calming the mind and body. The people who criticize TM are like the waves on the surface of the ocean. Limited thinkers full of fear that probably need TM if they would have an open mind and give it a chance.
