Growing up, my biggest passion was spirituality but unfortunately at the age of 19 I was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Visual and auditiory hallucinations made me believe that I would never be able to enjoy the fruits of meditation ever again, and this resulted in the absolute demolishion of my desire to live. This was followed by 2 suicide attempts that left me stuck in a psych ward for the whole of last year... Long story short... I taught myself many hacks to push through a full hour of meditation without allowing the voices and visions to suede me into giving up. Ive done 3 days in succession and plan on continuing every day until Im hopefully able to attain the state of mindfulness that I used to have before schizophrenia. This life is aggressive but it doesnt owe you anything. If you're reading this please know that you are way stronger than you could ever imagine. Strong desire can transform your life spectacularly, and pain and suffering is the source of our power

@@sunflowerly9300 meditation is nothing but focusing on yourself. You can do it anytime. Just sit comfortably in a peace environment,close your eyes, feel all your body parts, focus on your breathing(inhale fully, Exhale fully) and then limit your thoughts, try to think of nothing, just think of who you are, what make you Alive. Sometimes i just wish if there was a switch to turn off, sometimes i just want to sleep without my heart racing, sometimes only thing i want dearly is a moment of silence in there and a night full of sound sleep.

in that case i'm always meditating. I'd say i started when i was about 4 or 5 years old, i remember becoming more aware after a shocking idea entered my head, i started by practicing awareness of myself and my growth or when i made a mistake and often contemplated what was going on around me to a large extent. I matured faster and learned things quicker, i was able to make it into a strong passive intuition and am hyper aware of others and myself and my general surroundings. I'm usually able to read the room or individuals studying and making connections between patterns of behavior and just the vibe in general. I check in on myself and get deep. I think about the bigger picture and have had a bit of fun trying to theorize about how the universe at large operates. I don't think i'm right, but i like the idea of trying to see patterns ,especially ones that repeat or have relationships between large and small at scale, things like how our world on the sub-atomic scale curiously behaves like theories we have explaining how black and white holes operate or share congruencies with things we see on a cosmic scale. It is curious how we may think about ourselves as a spec in the universe at large but draw similarity between things so small we cannot physically see but with complex math and science can measure how they behave and curious yet again that parallel (or seem to be) with how our galaxies and observable universe looks and behaves. To be mindful is also to be in more control of yourself and not becoming a creature of only habit and dying mental or spiritual growth however you choose to see it. Meditation is for everyone and doesn't require anything special other than a mind that is open and a bit of focus. (ADD makes it hard, but if i can do it i think anyone can).

In the first instance you in a way separate yourself from the object of which you are aware of by being aware of that object. So it could be thoughts body emotions breathing beads mantra etc. Then you become aware that you are aware, whilst watching the continued objects passing by in each moment. Then at some point the object disappears and with it you (awareness). Then you enter a blissful state and after going through that you disappear 100%. If you do that enough of times you will be at some point enlightened.

@trashygit
@trashygit 4 жыл бұрын
Let me clarify two concepts or features here: 1) Yongey says "just simply be". This definition doesn't make a lot of sense on its own. Because people will say "I'm being already in my normal presence, what's the difference?", and they will be right. So the meditation should be a different situation than my ordinary being. In our everyday lives, we translate everything into the language. When we see something or feel something, our minds translate our experience into something linguistic; we give names (a table, cats, road, a glass of water, etc.) or phrases (I am waiting, she is talking, the door is open, etc.),. These linguistic translations are not only for the external happenings but also for our inner feelings (I am hungry, I feel sad) or our plans (I need to be there, I shouldn't hurry, etc.). In meditation, or for meditation, we should drop the language. We should be like language-less animals or babies. I know it's a difficult task for an untrained mind to switch off the language at the first attempt, but doable. Once you aim not to use the language and stop trying to translate everything into words, sentences, definitions, etc., then you'll start to be "aware" of things as they are presented. An apple will not be "an apple", but it will "just be" something. When you hold an apple, your mind will initially translate the experience into habitual judgements such as "this apple is round" or "red" or any other descriptions about an apple. Notice this human effort and don't do it. What we normally call "thinking" is, in fact, nothing but the language. Drop it, that's all you need to do. 2) Yongey says "the essence of meditation is awareness". This definition also doesn't make sense. People can easily claim that "I am aware of the room that I'm in, I'm aware of the temperature, I'm aware of the lots of other things now, am I not; is this not meditation?", and they will be right. But this is one type of awareness where you have translated everything into the language: room, temperature, and even the word "awareness". Once your mind translates your experiences into the language, they are boxed, packaged, framed. The essence of meditation is not just awareness; the essence of meditation is "awareness without the language". Don't try to stop thinking or try to concentrate, you can't do this at will; but you can easily catch yourself defining things using the language, calling the names of objects or feelings, simply notice this and stop it. Thinking without a language will automatically change everything, in fact, thinking won't be possible, presence will be possible. Without the language, you cannot think about time, so your mind can't think about the past or future. Without the language you cannot compare certain things, so your mind will not be able to think something like "this apple is bigger than the apple I saw yesterday". Your awareness will be sharpened because the things presented your awareness will not be labelled with the artificial (human) linguistic limitations.

You've complicated it. Just be and notice thoughts, sounds, feeling, smells etc. Analytical intelligent mind is no use here. You can't think your way to meditation, or analyse or understand it with intelelct. Too many words, far too may words. I understand your points, but just notice your own mind. Rather than not noticing your mind, there's a huge different. I really hope that helps you. If it doesn't, read again and try again. Good luck

That's exactly the technique I've learned to teach children meditation. It's not about being quiet and (completely) clearing the mind, but to be aware of what you're experiencing, what you hear, what you feel (e.g. is it warm or cold, windy). It's about concentrating on one thing at a time and experiencing it fully with all your senses.
