Ladies, you can still shampoo and condition your hair while it’s still in cornrows or braids. “Leaving your hair alone” does not mean neglecting it. An unclean scalp is a breeding ground for bacteria and fungal infections.

For tangling and matting. De-tangling dry with oil separates hair better and reduces shedding. Wetting the hair exacerbates tangling because the cuticles are lifted and stick to each other (like Velcro). The oil in conditioner is a saving grace tho :)

You don’t need to do overnight my dear, I saturate mine with oils 1 hour before the take down and work wonders. Now I will try 4 months, I only did 3. And for some reason tea tree essential oil preventes my hair to tangle too much. I mix with coconut and castor oil.

The only mistake here, is she didn't take care of her hair while it's in protective styling. As long as you wash and do your treatments, this is the best way to grow your hair. I did it for two years and my hair got to waist length. But dont do it, if your hair is relaxed

@@jboss3333 Don't even worry about the products, just stick to a routine - pre poo, wash , deep treatment and seal. During the week spritz(water/oil/conditioner). Wash weekly or every two weeks. And leave your hair alone. I used tresemme shampoo and conditioner and for the deep treatment I honestly just used what was available and cheap

For those saying how could she have left the style in for 4 months: her scalp was badly burned by a chemical. There was no way for her to wash it without severe pain and without risking infection. Even here it appears the burns are still hurting. I know how that feels from my relaxer burn days 😢

A Protective Style protects the weakest part of the hair the ends. When tucked away they won’t rub up against your clothes, lose hydration & moisture, and keeps the hair in a stretched state (shrunken hair = more tangles) Also protective styles are low to no manipulation hairstyle. The more you are messing with your hair the more breakage can occur.

@Nayanzeka You should have loosed her braids first before applying water. Better yet, the client should have loosed her own braids and washed her hair herself. You kept brushing and tugging at her hair while it was wet. Dont you know hair is weak and fragile when it is wet and yes you pulled on her wet hair until it shredded. The client felt this happening and then tried to remove her braids herself but you stopped her. Are you jealous of her thick hair?
