Glad to see you are doing better! Looking forward to all those upcoming reviews. Also, the form says King instead of Kong. Minor typo. I'm hoping I win the Fast X steelbook since I already have Godzilla vs. Kong on Blu-ray. I have all the other Fast & Furious movies except for Fast X so it would be very nice!

Hey Jeff, I just want to make it clear, you didn’t “screw up”. You did what you thought was best for you and the future of your channel. Sometimes you have to try new things to “reset” or know what you really want. If people can’t understand or respect that, that’s their problem. At least you can say you tried! And as long as the change is for the right reasons and you’re not doing something that will lead to burnout, again, I say go for it. Take care!

Hi Jeff. Great to see you getting back to your roots and what you're most passionate about! I only recently discovered your channel (like, within the last year or so) and I have absolutely enjoyed all your content on physical media, your personal collection, and all the stellar reviews you post. You are somebody who I've come to rely upon for your expertise in all things physical media! I also follow you on Whatnot, popping into your streams when I can. While I wholeheartedly appreciated this video, I will echo others who have said that you don't owe us any apology. We all deserve the opportunity to explore other avenues of interest and pursue those things we think we need to do. And if you discovered along the way (hopefully sooner rather than later, which you did) that you took the a wrong turn off the freeway, you can always circle back and get back on the right course for you. And that's what you did. I will admit that I wasn't watching your channel as much as I was when you were still Films at Home, but I never quit cold turkey. So, welcome back, Jeff, and I'm looking forward to more videos about what we're all passionate about around here. Thank you for everything you done for the community and will continue to do moving forward!

I’m happy you discovered your passion for yourself and were still trying something new despite the pushback! As a creator, I am in the same boat! Totally hard on myself too lol. KZbin just doesn’t grow or get engagement the way those new short form sites do, it’s tough to know where to put attention. I guess overall it’s most important to make whichever type of content you know you prefer, but it’s worth trying new things once in a while too! Still figuring this out for myself!

Yeah, you did kind of go astray. Admittedly, when you first made the announcement I was like, I’m gonna go along because been following you for so long and enjoying everything you’ve been doing for so long. You were always one of my top three go-to's. The main reason I originally followed you was for your love of physical media and that obsession so many of us share, your movie reviews, your movie comparisons Blu-ray versus 4K is it worth the upgrade, your recommendations insight on the industry news and what was coming out and all the news those were the important things. But it’s great to try new things you got to figure out ways to expand and grow your channel so I completely get that. But I’m glad you’re back. I agree. Don’t beat yourself up at all. And it’s wasn't a mistake It was just an idea that didn’t work out. you would’ve regretted not trying more than the fact that you did try. Think of it like this the flock one is stray because the shepherd went astray. He found your way back. Follow your heart. Keep it simple. Enjoy it. .

I am glad to see you are "back". It just seemed more "Commercial". It lost its special flavor. Like you, I'm a passionate collector. My collection is slightly smaller at about 2/3 yours. But that is still bigger than the vast majority of people. BTW... Did you see the announcement that GameStop is so desperate to drive foot traffic to their stores that they are going to try their hand at physical media sales? 😂 GameStop is so hosed at this point. I don't know if anything can save them. Anyway glad to hear that you you will be more oriented to what brought us together in the first place. Thank you Jeff.

Hey Jeff, thanks for the content you have provided, and will continue to provide! I came on as a sub for your insightful 4K reviews as I was just getting into the 4K phys media myself. I didn’t mind the expansion related content as I figured you’re experimenting a bit with the channel rather than recreating additional channels with content tailored to the sub channels, it was all good and it’s good to experiment a bit but if you feel like you were loosing your core audience as result of those changes in content/format/focus then I understand why you’re going back to your “roots” so to speak for this channel. I’ve always enjoyed your content and showcasing so I never unsubbed! All the best!!

Loved your channel and was the reason I got back into physical media again. So much passion when you talk about physical media and you were great at it. Missed the content you were doing not going to lie and very happy you are back to Physical media content. Doesn’t have to be all 4K reviews. Loved the top 10 videos, love the hidden gem videos, love any type of physical media you want to talk about, but give me some stuff to constantly be searching and growing my collection. Almost left to be honest because I only followed for that content. Nothing against you or your growth but unfortunately have to do what the people want. Also I only followed you on KZbin, deleted all my social media because it is THE most toxic thing in life. Your old videos about media I would watch 5 times over and sometimes play it again in the background to listen to while I’m doing other stuff. The director interviews and stuff like that was very boring to be honest and in my opinion. Either way happy to see you back talking about physical media new and old. Seems like you absolutely loved physical media and talking about it so hopefully we see that again. I get the how many ways can you say a 4K is nice but I’d be happy with Blurays you mention that I have never seen. Theres so many movies out there. I grow my collection through what people show and talk about mostly. You were the #1 name in physical media when I jumped back. Happy to see you back.

Hey man! I understand that feeling of burnout. I liked seeing you try new things and it’s cool to see you circle around. Moving forward, possibly consider a seasonal structure on KZbin that some guys here have used to keep their mental health and enthusiasm in a great place. I know a lot of people are saying you didn’t have to make this video and they’re not wrong BUT I will say that your channel is what reignited my love for physical media and specifically what got me to start building my 4K/Blu-ray/DVD collection again. I even built some really nice shelving to show them all off in my theater room lol. So when you started shifting the direction of your channel and even had a couple of videos that came off as kind of doom & gloom toward 4k Blu-rays and physical media I was kind of bummed out. I didn’t unsubscribe because I was hoping you’d go back to doing the 4k Blu-ray videos again. So I personally appreciate this video and am glad to hear you’re are going back to the old style content. Love what you're doing here, Jeff. Appreciate your transparency and open communication to your audience. One concern I see on the horizon with UHD is the players. I haven't seen any updates by the manufacturers in some time. What really kicked DVD and Blu-ray sales into gear was when budget models hit the under $100 impulse buy territory. Maybe that's just not feasible in the market today. I'm sure a budget model won't provide the performance of a quality player, but it really would help with adoption. I fear the current crop of players and the PS5 can only carry UHD so far. A video on your thoughts would be great content.

No apologies needed. Social media, KZbin, all of it, is a fickle, ever-evolving roller-coaster. It's been a major focus of my career for 15 years and I've been making it up as I go along. I've floated many balloons that popped in mid-air. You take care of you and your family first, that's all that matters. Take regular breaks form this platform and other social media. A lot of your critiques in your video where you initially changed direction are still valid though. Most discs - quality wise - are really good, and don't warrant a full review. Too many people pick apart decent transfers frame by frame and forget that the discs are a means to an end: to enjoy a movie. Some balance is warranted. I love your channel as I primarily use it to keep up to date on new releases. But please don't start picking apart great transfers at the expense of a good movie like so many other channels do! Either way, you won't lose me! Love your channel and passion for movies. And love you took a step to change things up! You are way too hard on yourself! We love you!

It’s definitely OK to try something new, and it’s totally understandable that being the writer, producer, on-camera host and everything else you have to do to publish a KZbin channel can be taxing. It’s great to hear (and learn!) from your experience. Your channel is an inspiration and I hope to jump on the KZbin bandwagon, too. Rock on, man!

Never left but will say I'm glad you're going back to it. I started following you for the 4k reviews and thought you were always really solid at doing that. I do enjoy your overall content of physical media as well. Keep up the good work!

I've always found you to be one of the most reliable sources on KZbin, so I hope you don't beat yourself up too much over this. And now that your focus is back on physical media, I hope you're able to use your influence and the power of your channel to convince Disney/Sony to release 4K editions of the many classic Fox titles in the Disney vault. 👍

Jeff, I saw your content some years ago about your 4K releases. And the first and best thing because I liked your attitude from the start, is your laid back, fan approach about 4K releases. I didn't come back to your channel for time reasons. So, for me: You give us movie fans free content. How you do that, is your decision. I don't think you have to "apologize" in any way, because you do free content. And how you feel it is best for you, you decide. We as free viewers have no right to tell you, what to do and in what way you do it. Keep it up! Best from Zurich, Switzerland

@JeffRauseo I really hope you read this. When it comes to being a content creator and changing things up, it is always going to be a bit of a balancing act no matter what type of content you make. Unless change is something constant in your content. For every follower you might have lost from moving away from your older style, you could have gained one with your newer style. In time as things balance out, which isn't going to happen over night and that's to be expected. I'd suggest trying to continue with what your known for while also trying to sprinkling in the new stuff you want to do once and a while. This way you can get the best of both worlds for both you and the community you've built. Just don't completely abandon anything right away. Things will balance out and it's gonna be a little extra work at first but I think everyone will be happy with the end result in time. Especially you :)

You didn’t screw up, remember to be kind to yourself. You seem a lot like myself, and I really feel for you. We love your channel and I personally love how you champion physical media and talk so passionately about the format and the movie industry’s relationship with it. You have a unique voice with unique tastes, and channels like your own are what keep us informed and connected with the hobby of collecting film. It’s more important than you give yourself credit for. I’m happy you’re back and making plans for the future, which sound truly exciting! Onwards and upwards, Jeff, can’t wait to see what’s ahead for you, but you will smash it 💥

I wouldn't say you screwed up; you tried a new format, and didn't get the results you hoped for. And that's okay, we all have things in our lives not work out quite the way we wanted or hoped. We learn and grow stronger from them. To quote my favourite captain: "It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness, that is life." You have an audience that is still here, and will be happy for what we get from you, when we get it from you.

Dude, just like all of your supporters have said, you have a life beyond this channel. As a die hard physical media advocate since the mid 90’s, I love your insight and know when it comes to discussing physical media, you’re completely on point with your discussions. But you, just like many of us, have obligations outside the awesome domain of physical media discussion. Point being, you have a strong following and that will not change anytime soon. Much respect man.

I am glad you are back just like Shane on KZbin who is back too. He fell back from doing for a while too. He does video and audio only reviews on 4K Ultra HD movies. Stay focus Jeff "films at Home". You, Midlevel Media, Steelbook Obsessed, In search of physical media and Sue and movies are the ones I view. You were one of the first that i viewed for movie reviews. I remembering you moving to your new house. You getting it all set up and then you fell off. I am glad you back. Boutique labels are the biggest thing now. Best Buy is history. Walmart still has a problem with putting physical media in stores. They are trying but nit hard enough.

It takes a big man to admit his mistakes, I'm really glad to see you back doing what you do so well - physical media reviews, Glad that you have got it sorted in your mind. There are only a couple of other KZbinrs that i follow for 4K reviews, and since you decided to change direction I looked around for others but none matched your delivery, relaxed presentation style or valuable opinions.

On the topic of being hard on yourself: you did not screw up. You were dealing with burnout, so you tried changing things up to keep yourself engaged. It turned out you just needed a break, not a shift in subject matter, so you're back to what you were doing before. That is an entirely normal, healthy human experience. Lots of people in wildly different lines of work can no doubt relate. It's really easy to get tripped up by metrics like views or subscribers, or to worry about making yourself more "marketable" by covering different topics. But even if this was your full-time job and you were solely dependent on KZbin money, it would not benefit your mental health to make videos you aren't proud of on topics you aren't interested in. It would become just another soul-sucking job at that point. The important thing is that your decisions-both to shift to a more general film discussion channel and to un-shift and return to physical media 24/7-both came from a desire to stay passionate, motivated, and creative on KZbin and keep it fun. And there's nothing shameful about that! :)

Hey Jeff, you've always provided solid, interesting, valuable and timely content. You have a chill vide and deliver information that is both entertaining, useful and fun. I will say, I was surprised when you changed the name and direction of your channel as I thought it could cause you to lose some equity that you had built up and earned. Films at Home was and is a great name as it describes what you do, what you're passionate about and provides a great starting conversation for what the viewer will encounter. Switching to just your name doesn't provide any context of what the channel is about. I'd recommend adding Films at Home back in after your name to have the best of both worlds. I think that would actually be a stronger name and better provide viewers, especially new viewers that are searching for this type of content, a starting point. However, it's your channel and you actually get to do whatever you like. Whatever that is. I don't think an apology is necessary at all. Your channel and the videos you create are far better than 99% of the other physical media creators channels. You engage in easy conversation while providing valuable information to us that really helps guide purchasing decisions and viewing. You don't over hype, over criticize or engage in BS whiney, nit picky crap that so many other do now. Some just ramble on, create videos that are twice as long as needed, never get to the point, repeat themselves over and over or come across so arrogant as if their review is the be all end all. Most of these guys never saw these films in the theaters and yet know for certain, a particular 4K disk looks worse than it did when it played originally, decades ago. Once Upon a Time in the West is a current example. Certain channels display soft, poor screen shots and mislead viewers to sound like some sort of expert when they have no clue. Others go to extremes to be far too technical while telling their viewers just how important their review is and you better not skip ahead in the video or you'll miss some life changing information that only they can provide. You point out things and share your opinions in a helpful, realistic way. I appreciate your insights and approach. I'm very happy you're back as your channel is the standard. Thank you for doing what you do, the way you do it and may you have continued success in all things. Thank you.

People can be finicky and although I understand the reason why content creators apologize at times, it never made sense to me in cases like this why people like yourself really need to do it. Some times people need a little change to gain perspective, even if it doesn't work out. That's how we all grow! Keep doing what you're doing Jeff, nothing wrong with making a video of different topics imo.

Jeff you don't have to apologize you didn't screw this up, you are just trying to be yourself, when doing things that you're not as passionate about. Doing things you're not as passionate about will unfortunately will get any creator burned out. Please try your best for it to be the ones you are really passionate about & please don't be so hard on yourself, you deserve to enjoy making all content that you're happy with as much us fans enjoy watching your videos
