I've visited dozens of indigenous tribes around the world, but no experience has been quite like this one, on the tri-country border of Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. My wife, Deanna, and I spent 2 days driving on long dirt roads to meet the Vadoma tribe, who are the only humans on earth that genetically have 2 toes on each foot.
I came here to find out their story, spread awareness about their struggles and learn what life would be like with this shocking condition. I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments down below - have you ever heard of the Vadoma tribe? What do you think about their feet?

@@eswarjuri No, Zambians don't think they're at war. Like I said in my previous comment, it's minor disagreements over water management. All countries that share a border along a major river both sides rely on will have disputes. It's governmental and as the original comment suggest; the people aren't even aware, that's how minor the dispute is 😂

This is why a diverse gene pool is so important to prevent things like this from happening.

What do you mean?
@G33K01345
@G33K01345 Ай бұрын
@@jdos5643 Having a gene pool without diversity leads to deformities like this. Most small communities all around the world struggle with keeping the gene pool diverse and as a result have a much higher rate of defects like this. This is also why royalty (which practice incest/family intermixing) had so many deformities.

@G33K01345 Ай бұрын
@@jdos5643 Not necessarily. Most communities that are small and distant from other areas just don't have the travel of persons in and out to encourage more diverse meetings. There's also a lack of sex ed and keeping track of genealogies. Unintentional incest mostly where red states don't have an excuse.
@BlueBookMen1000
@BlueBookMen1000 26 күн бұрын
@@G33K01345 It's sad you had to explain that to someone. When you see common deformities like this it's always these small tribes in the middle of nowhere, where everyone is at least distantly related. Almost everyone has that gene that creates the deformity. You see this problem with small tribes in Tanzania where Albinism is common.

Here in the Caribbean, there was one boy in the village next door, who was born similarly, with 2 toes on each foot,and and 3 fingers on each hand. He grew up doing everything that a normal boy would do, batting and bowling well when playing cricket. His writing hand was exceptional. He was in no way handicapped.

That’s beautiful to hear. I believe this condition happens though as a result of low folic acid during pregnancy. It could be that many women in this tribe are nutrient deficient on top of the defect being hereditary

@@nouvel0001I agree. Mostly because my concern is that he may get bullied or the bike stolen or someone may pop the tire…something. If I were Drew, I would try to find some sponsors or buy at least 10 for the community to share. No offense Drew, I know it’s a lot when you visit people in need but can’t give everything. But singling one out when others may need this in that community may strain the one who has and definitely the ones that don’t.

I'm so happy you sent money for that boy to get a bicycle! 🚲💙You're so honourable and kind, Drew. You've made his life so much easier. God bless that whole tribe. I hope they can find a way to rise above their trauma and pain from the cruel forced displacement. 💗

As a Zimbabwean, I was surprised to learn about this tribe from this documentary. It's important for people to be aware of these lesser-known groups and ensure their history is preserved. Even though I lived in Zimbabwe most of my life, I never heard of them before. This is a great reminder that there's always more to learn about our own cultures. On behalf of Zimbabwe thank you Drew!!!...

Syndactyly is a dominant trait, which means that if one parent carries the genetic code for it, their babies are much more likely to be born with it.
