I just got COVID in the beginning Of November after working as a cashier for the whole pandemic. It’s so frustrating when you do everything in your power to stay safe and protect yourself and other people ruin it for you. I feel like a lot of people got COVID sometime 2019/early 2020 without knowing it! I wish it was a one time thing (like the chicken pox or something) but obviously we can’t control that. Really sucks that nobody made the COVID connection and snuffed it out!

Sounds very similar to what my entire family went through in mid to late January. My sister is a dental hygienist, and out of nowhere came down with an intense sickness. My mom was certain it was just the flu which she contracted because of her work. She was having breathing issues on top of the normal flu symptoms, but nothing necessitating the hospital. It got to the point where she was more or less bundled on the couch in a blanket all day, so she went to urgent care, and quickly came back with a negative flu test and an inhaler to help with breathing problems. A week later, both of my parents fell ill as well. They’d been taking care of her pretty vigilantly. They went to the doctor, and came back with the exact same things. It got to the point where my sister was cocooning on her bed and both my parents occupied the couches. I didn’t get bad, I had a runny nose, and slight breathing problems, so I just used my inhaler I have for my asthma and pounded theraflu like it was a tall glass of Ice water and was completely better in a little under a week. My mother ended up having it the worst, she had the case where you seem to be getting better, but regress after a good day to condition much worse than before for another half week.. both of my parents were out of work for 2-2.5 weeks, it was honestly scary and wouldn’t wish it on anyone

We had visits going for a while, we are now In lock down again, but the visits were so awful. 20 minutes, 6 feet apart, no touching, had to wear masks. So awful for the residents who are hard of hearing, but just for all of them after having not seen family for months. Some of them have literally lost the will to really live because of this isolation and we've lost 10 to the virus. I hope this ends soon and pray the vaccines they're developing are legitimate and actually help.

This is so similar to my own experience... In January, around the SAME TIME (the 27th) I got really sick with a fever. My friend was sleeping over from Sunday to Monday since there was no school, and around noon on the 27th, I started to get that feeling I got once a year when I got a fever. I ended up taking my temperature, saw I had a fever, and told my friend that I didn't want to get her sick. She left around 20 minutes later when she got picked up. That was the beginning of a long week of fever, coughing, chills, and a doctors visit that tested the EXACT SAME TESTS you had (Strep, Flu A & B). All came back negative, and I progressively got a worse sore throat and a loss of voice until that Friday. On Saturday I finally got my voice back and my fever had broken. I have not taken an antibody test or a COVID test since because my dad says the tests are too inaccurate to spend money on as of right now. We assume it was COVID since my uncle and his girlfriend were kinda sick when they visited over the Christmas break after traveling in Asia, and China for a day. I was essentially quarantined in my room for a whole week, with only my cat as company. I had dinner in bed because I was too sick and weak to get up and walk to the dining room. Stacy, I'm so happy you're feeling better now, and hope you continue to stay happy and healthy. I'm sorry for the loss of your grandparents and the inability to visit your grandfather. I have family overseas and not being able to visit is a killer. Stay strong, we can do this

My story is pretty similar. My sister and I traveled to Dubai with layovers in London. First week of February. The last day in Dubai I started feeling feverish, 23 hour layover in London and I was so sick. 9 hour flight later, when we landed in Vancouver I definitely had a fever. It was so early in the pandemic that no one was suspecting covid coming out of london. I spent the next nearly two weeks in my bed with a fever up to 102. I was cold and sweaty and I had zero appetite. I have never experienced a fever like that before. Unfortunately the antibody test just became available in Canada last month. I could get one but it might have been too long. After talking to a healthcare worker friend, he said I can just assume it was covid, which is good enough for me. It was awful.

I had a very horrible illness that honestly was similar to rona in January-February, and I’m 💯 sure it’s bc of a particular foreign exchange group who literally were adjacent to wuhan and event visited fam in wuhan for break. I was far from the only one sick af, we “shut down” entire dorm wings. Not surprisingly we found out that everyone who got that illness were pretty resilient to rona exposure and had almost no symptoms from rona when we got it over the next few years. RSV months after my rona infection in 2021 almost killed me. It was absolutely horrible, and as a chronically ill person it takes a lot to get me down. You described my entire experience with the mystery illness to a T… except I got lungs filled with fluid instead of lymph node. Like my extreme deep breaths were the only way I could breathe and I’d just cough up a cup of mucus… like the first time the mucus snuck up one me I was so deprived of oxygen I was blue all over, couldn’t see, hear, or feel anything but the Antarctic chill and searing heat of my skin and bones. Legit would’ve simped for death every day for 3 weeks. RSV was a week, and I legit had so much PTSD from the mystery illness I refused to stay awake… I couldn’t take a major illness at that point and be conscious.

I was still so bad I got a quarantine order that I couldn’t go to university for at least a week...less than a month later Covid lockdowns.

Weirdly enough, I have an very similar story to you and your grandfather. My great grandfather has his 100th birthday party in March. Two weeks later, my grandfather passed away in March and my immediate family got together for his funeral, where someone accidentally brought Covid. We then all had it for two weeks where we had chills, and crazy fevers all over the place, and a couple members of my family were in the hospital for a little bit (Not for anything terrible luckily, but one of them got pneumonia from it) and then in May my Great Grandfather passed away and we had to repeat the whole funeral process again which was really difficult to figure out in this season. It's been a rough year, but luckily a lot of good has happened for my family in the past few months, so it's turned around a lot since the spring

Aww, glad that you were able to get better from whatever happened to you, Stacy 💜 I am currently dealing with a medical type situation myself. It's not coronavirus, but I very recently got diagnosed with something that may mean I have to go on a medication for life, depending on what happens next. As you can imagine, I have quite a few feelings about the situation, such as anger, anxiety and depression. I feel like a lot of people take being in good health for granted, especially now. Some people who don't have coronavirus walk around and have this rather arrogant attitude that they will stay perfectly healthy and they don't social distance and wear masks. Its rather upsetting to see, not only because they might get it and die and that they're passing it on to others, but because they are ignoring and disregarding the people that have suffered and passed away due to the virus and it being spread because people just don't behave for the greater good of humanity right now. Also, yes, bless the people who are on the medical frontlines. They're so brave, and strong in spirit as they're trying to help others survive this sickness. I could never do what they do, I would go insane. So many of them after this probably are going to need help themselves, on a mental and emotional level.

It’s ironic too because we’re in the clinic/hospital seeing patients and surrounded by the faculty and staff who some travel a lot between medical facilities. In December 2019/January 2020 i got very sick with a fever and chills and had to sleep for weeks and then just recover for a bit towards the end. Very similar to your symptoms! Then when winter break ended and I was back in school everyone in the school started getting sick with “flu” like symptoms but a lot of people were negative for the flu because we have to get the flu shot every year so i’m curious too if we all had covid!

I'm pretty sure I had Covid last December, because I randomly got pneumonia and there was really no explanation for it. Hope you're doing okay, Stacy!
