The packed action in metro tunnels with tracers and rockets flying past u, the mass jumping from the mountain into enemy fire, assisted by the helicopter, the far sniping on the big multiplayer maps, the tank crew simulation in urban areas, the annihilation of whole squats with my jet skills (and then getting funny hate messages of 12 year olds, which made me crack up and target them even more) putting C4 on enemy vehicles and waiting for them to get entered by enemy players to blow them up or doing the same on friendly vehicles to launch them over the whole map with friends this game had it all.

Not too long ago I went back and played BF3 and BF4. It's just not the same man. Turns out the fond memories were largely due to the people I played it with. Crazy to think that BF3 was almost 14 years ago. I feel like both the internet and gaming peaked there. Sure there were great games after that but so much less.
@zackbobby55503 ай бұрын
I think that's true. Nostalgia and being younger has a lot to do with it, but I do actually think that games were better back then. BF3 was just a good ass game. The internet was better then, too. People would actually sit down and watch a 20 minute video about a gun build or an hour long video of a group of friends squadding up in Battlefield. Now, videos are less than a minute, and most of that minute is ads.

Same. I don't think any game will ever top it, and even if they somehow do end up making a Bad Co 3, the expectations for a modern shooter mean that it won't be the same. It'll be loaded with all sorts of equipment, character abilities, skins, crap that takes away from the experience or makes it harder to balance. Bad Co 2 was so good because it was less "customizable" but as a result generally really balanced and just played so well.

@@Incrediblebowlesmodels Exactly, there is a different level of immersion that comes with full destruction. I actually think the battle royal game type is built for full destruction. You don't really have to worry about the whole map being leveled since the ring closes anyways. So you still get that immersion experience without the game breaking when the map gets completely leveled (tbh I didn't even care when that happened). Imagine the a Bad Company 3 Battle Royal mode, the content streamers would get from it would be insane.

But what makes it special isn't that I played it so much or my squad, it's because of my little brother. He was so bad he didn't really like playing it but kept playing with me anyway. I was able to watch him gradually get better and better to the point that he was nearly on par with me in terms of skill.
