Sometimes missing your ex is actually missing YOURSELF. In other words - missing who YOU were when you were with her.

This is GOLD. The reason we get nostalgic many times about past relationships is we felt we were "the man". Not because we were any different, but because the flirtation, kissing and sex gave us the illusion that we were doing something more right than were doing today, when in reality, it was "just your turn" in that moment. We liked who we thought we used to be. Thankfully, we are always THAT man when a woman actually makes you feel desired.

I believe we go through phases where we realize we've been a "slave" to different ideas we've been sold. And we begin to realize the importance of removing ourselves from those imprisoning limitations. Freedom is the ability to be genuinely ourselves.

I miss my Ex. And I was the one that left, and ended it, not because I wanted to, but I felt that I wasn't left with a choice. That was 10 years ago and I still think about her every day. However, I have also realised that I don't miss the real her, but rather the mythical "her" that she presented, and which I fell in love with, in that first 2 or 3 weeks. I love and still love that almost perfect mythical her. Its easy to love someone that is perfect, a lot harder to love the real person. But it took me a long time to discover why I thought about her so much.

The mythical "her" is almost always the her a man misses. In a way, it's a sad example of how men are left so emotionally out in the cold that the very people we invest our lives into need to be built in our heads as better to us than they actually are. As another man that went through it, I can tell you the real her isn't that great bud. Infact, the real her probably wouldn't even get along with the mythical her. In some cases they're almost complete opposites.
@Pahwah
@Pahwah 2 жыл бұрын
@@westernartifact4163 Absolutely spot on. We are inculcated to pedestialise women, and so when they present that mythical person, we instantly fall for her. Having gotten us they then revert to the real her. But we are left with the initial chemical responses to her myth. Its as much a self-deception as it is deception by her. I have also realised that her myth making is as much about her convincing herself of her own deception i.e. "I love you" is said as much to convince herself that she can love, when really she can't, as it is about convincing you that she loves you. The reality is that she is incapable of loving you, but the deception has to go on. I think of it as "slow dancing in a burning room".

Sometimes, I feel the same way about my ex-gf. I was the one who ended the relationship, and when I reminisce, it's always about the best times and the best version of her. I suppose it is simply our mind working to fill in the gaps as to how we felt the relationship should have progressed.

Very interesting topic. I can relate a lot with what you mentioned. It isn’t easy to deeply connect with someone if at least one side is ‘disconnected’ from reality or is barely present. I have experienced I believe different levels of being authentic and being aware, as well as being disconnected and lost. My latest life lesson is that one’s mind can be one’s worst enemy: in creating a fantasy image of the person you fall in love with, or ignoring negative signs out of fears and partially lacking self-respect for one’s own personal boundaries, or simply dwelling on painful episodes of the past and overthinking them repeatedly. Once I realised that I was partially the source of my own suffering and standing in my way, I finally let go: of the fantasy, the past and the version of the person I loved that my mind had sculpted. I have the control to decide how to act in regards of what reality gives me. Now the challenge is to not blind myself again.

I commented on another video from this week, how I found out an ex of mine now has a boyfriend and how disheartened I was. Why? She in the end turned out to be an empty, narcissistic and manipulative girl. Also this guy is nothing special. A loser by all accounts. Why is she “different to any other Thot” as my friend put it? Well like Danny’s ex, she isn’t anything special. I fell for her mask/avatar - the person I thought she was. My lack of mask is what caused her to leave, because it exposed her empty shell. For all my faults, I at least know there’s something underneath the shell.

This comment really speaks to me. I had a very similar situation and the interesting thing was that in the end, she told me "you're not perfect" as if I somehow thought or had claimed that I am perfect.. But the reason she thought that way was probably that I was always studying myself and reading books and listening podcasts to improve myself and fight my faults and demons. I made mistakes and was transparent about the process of how and what I learned from them. She on the other hand was never willing to change or grow and seemed to take my criticism personally. Yet despite realizing this, I still miss the fantasy of her. I still miss the version of her that I originally thought she was. And what hurts me the most is being disappointed in yet another woman. I hope she will learn to self reflect eventually. I wish that for all women.

I'm curious to know about people who are living an authentic life.. what are some ways you feel supported by others? In my case, I feel most supported when others trust my decisions and when they stand by me without saying much when I'm going through a difficult time. "would YOU want to be a woman, even with all the concessions?" Wow, good question...no, I would not. Not at all. I've never really asked myself that question before. You get: free drinks, free dates, child support, alimony, less responsibility for actions. You give up: Real agency (men built the world, after all), true peace of mind, most fear (we are generally larger and stronger), REAL friendships, and most of all...LOVE. For men, love is giving and making ones self vulnerable. For women, in general, it is receiving, taking, but not giving much, outside of the body. This is demonstrated by how easily women replace men with another man, often before she even breaks up with the first guy. But if a man loves a woman, it can take him years to get over her. Men love like dogs do, and women tend to love like cats.

great down-to-earth video. Sometimes we do meet a great girl we have an amazing chemistry /connection with. I did back in 2005 and she was a bit heavy set and I also wanted more variety and more the hot clubby(disco) type girl. However, looking back years later I never met anyone I had as much fun with and felt such a beautiful and almost seamless connection. I then mentioned that to my teacher and she said that perhaps I was supposed to be with her or we were supposed to be together not sure exactly and when you do meet someone like that it usually takes A while to find a person like that again. SO if you really do find someone great give it a real shot and don`t take opportunities for granted.

Men and women are equally "religious" or "spiritual." The difference is that men and women get something different from it. For women, the focus of a religion or spirituality is on themselves. That's one of the reasons they like things like astrology; all of the predictions seem to "know" them really well. Also, a lot of the "woo woo" spirituality is about "loving yourself" and "being the universe." That kind of stuff makes women the focus of it -- almost like they are their own god. Meanwhile, men look for meaning and purpose in religion, or a place to belong. It explains their suffering and explains what their place is in the universe, so they can make sense of and justify all of the suffering they're expected to endure as men. There's the gods, then below them spirits, then below them man, then woman, then children. All of them have their place and all have their role and it gives man a map for his life and something to focus on.

I understand what he is talking about. Some people are attracted to each other like magnets. If you know what it feels like to find someone watching from across the room you understand why he misses her. Somewhat like the song "Smooth" by Rob Thomas. The l truth is some people can be so connected to another person that when the other person is not there it is like not having a jacket on a windy day. Spiritual, pheromones or good vibes... whatever that type of attraction is hard to replace .

I had a deep connection with my ex, maybe I still miss her or the relationship, but I kinda have learned to live without it, it doesn't hurt as before, but sometimes I feel nostalgic about the moments we shared. Last year I noticed that she had reactivated an old Facebook account that still contained many pictures of us, and the profile cover had a pic when we got engaged. The weirdest thing of it, is that she kept this profile on for months even whilst she was in another relationship, I've never figured out why her current boyfriend didn't ask her to delete it since many people had already seen it, not only me. Anyways, it's not my concern anymore, but it was a really odd behavior.

It reminds me of how women say "I'm not happy, I want a divorce." We need to grow up and realize that it's not ok to expect the feelings to last from either side. You've been busy this week - lots of great content! What popped into my mind when I listened to this was: "I wonder if this was Danie's first SERIOUS girlfriend"? Maybe this is something analogous to "alpha widow" syndrome in women. Also, in this video you said: "Most girls out there are dull and boring" and "Take off the mask; take off the makeup - there's actually nothing there". I think there's a serious biological component to this observation, and would make for an interesting Discord group chat!

"treat other people how you want to be treated" sadly doesn't work in times where narcicissm ist being celebrated and the "don't change for anyone" mantra is abused as an excuse to stay a spoiled obnoxious child well into your 50s. Everyone can talk 8 hours straight abour what treatment they feel they deserve, but when you ask them what they offer in return it's crickets chirping. Sure you don't have to be an ahole but instead be polite and just move on, but being friends with just everyone is inviting disaster into your life.

There's a separate (long and complicated) answer for every angry woman (just as there is for every angry guy). But from a broad social perspective, I'm guessing many (most?) women are frustrated that the promise of "liberation" has actually lead them down, and left them stranded in, a dark, dead-end alley.

@@BoffinGrusky nailed it boffin. I was in a pub last Friday and a group of women started chatting. Of course my sarcastic attitude triggered the one femist. My retort to her blather was the cliche " fisim freed men". They all sat there somber and sad, agreeing with the statement. It was eye opening.
@BoffinGrusky
@BoffinGrusky 2 жыл бұрын
@@rocket_scientist5353 Yes, it DID free men! And when they actually think about it, they get even more p*ssed!! Speaking of pub experiences, I had one many years ago that stuck with me. My buddy and I went out for a few beers after work one weekday. As we walked into the bar, there were two well dressed, well groomed, and moderately attractive women (mid to late 30's), sitting at a small table near the entrance. I've always assumed they were women on a power-career path, as that's how they presented to the casual observer. We bellied-up to the bar, close to where they were sitting, and couldn't help but overhear their conversation. One of them had just broken-up with her boyfriend, and their mood was festive; lots of laughing and giggling! But, by the time we had finished our third beer, their mood had turned terribly somber, dark, and the newly-single woman (who was by now well imbibed) was sobbing loudly and heavily, with the other women desperately trying to console her! (Sad....but VERY entertaining). I was a young man at the time (early 20's) and what left the impression, was how the well crafted liberated facade, didn't match the later revealed little girl hysterical trauma.

From what I've seen, is that it's easier for women after a breakup. They just go back to their phones and can find physical intimacy within an hour of breaking up with you. They have endless opportunities for sex and relationships. For us men, we really do become single. Women don't understand this.

Good points, but I would disagree about women being empty beneath their shells. Collectively I could not even begin to tell you how many women feel that men are also empty, boring, dull and pretencious. Maybe the ways we are socialized do change the form of our masks, but I don't think many young people and maybe not too many old people get to really know and express themselves.

Good video... good points, I agree with them all - I just wonder if "spiritual" is "metaphysical" in general, or code for "religious". It varies more by person than by male/female, and if it is a big factor in your life, please pay attention. A mismatch in level of involvement/commitment in the area of religion can end up being a big deal-breaker. I really miss one guy I dated, but we were mismatched in that area, and it is a deal-breaker for me. Don't think "she can't be serious about that, she'll drop it soon enough", because you won't like being "stuck with a religious nutter" if you are basically just tolerating something that is something that may be tremendously important to her later on.

Another good illustration of why "dating with a purpose" is so important. The butterflies blind you (but soon flutter-off). When your vision returns, you're forced to deal with the actual person you're involved with. Emotions alone are a bad foundation for a long term relationship.

As someone who dumped and yet honestly still miss my ex, but I also have chosen to move on (in spite of missing and loving them, with no illusions about them) and now married my blessing - a loving husband and father of our children, the best that you can do is be friends and focus on God. Love thy neighbor as thyself. That doesn’t mean romantic love. It means forgive them and hopefully they forgive you, and both try to wish each other well and pray for them and hope they either can find someone else or be able to be single and love God. The truth is sometimes compatibility and honest love doesn’t win out and that’s okay. It’s a choice and God gives us a god-given choice to reject, even those who we romantically love and thank God for that freedom of choice. Amen! There is also nothing wrong with being permanently single and there are others who have done that and gone on to live full rich lives.

If you just remember that most women run their thoughts thru the emotional part of their brain before the logic and reason part, where men automatically start off in logic and reason it goes a long way in understanding where they are coming from. And why men can't relate.

Men over romanticize their first full time relationship. Looking back she used me good. Financially and emotionally and especially sexually. I thought it was going to last but it went on for one year and I was dumped. The worst part was trying to find another women that was her equal. I was young and dumb but now I know better. Women for the most part use you until its time to move on to the next man with the bigger bankroll or bigger D. She is never yours. Its just your turn.
