This is the first Simon video I ever watched. Had no clue who he was and assumed he stunk because he missed the cut. 5 months later I circle back as a massive fan. Thank you Simon for what you do for the sport!!

You once said, “embrace the slump.” My daughter even made a painting for me with that quote. Just go for it and have fun. Eagle is right too. As a musician, caring deeply while not caring on stage is part of the gig.

Welcome to the club of aging! I'm 57, gave up rock climbing at 40, Mtn. biking at 45, and now enjoy playing DG at whatever level my body can pull off. It varies daily, but one thing never changes: YOU"RE only as good as YOUR Next shot! Always believe in your next shot, even if you just shanked one into another fairway- You got this- just park the Disc on this scramble shot!😉

I feel like this is how Simon is in all his videos. When he wins tournaments, “How did I win that?”. Idk where you got “arrogant” from 😂😅
@jimmyjam-vc6rf9 ай бұрын
I kind of agree with you about the arrogance and this was an interesting video. There's something about disc golf that requires a lot of ego, confidence, and maybe even arrogance. You're doing something that is incredibly difficult and you have to tell yourself you're going to be perfect. You take your best guess and commit and believe in yourself 100% with no doubts in your mind at all. That's also incredibly hard to do.

As far as thinking too much, I like to think of something I read from a sports psychologist: "most of what you do is automatic"; meaning most of your form you don't have to think about, since you've done it so many times. Maybe just release point and speed. Good luck in Austin!

SIMON!!! You need to stop saying to yourself that "YOU SUCK!" Words have power. You obviously don't suck. You're an elite level player. You also have to quit telling yourself that you can't beat someone. or you'll have to play perfect to beat them. Just like the bad weekend you had this last week. Others also can have bad rounds. Tell yourself your the best! Critique a bad throw after you throw it, figuring out what you did wrong. Instead of just beating yourself down. You rock man. M2C

When you see someone losing confidence when they shouldn't, it's horrible to watch because there is almost nothing to do to help one get through it. Usually when it happens to me, I feel amazed as well and ask mysel what is going on. I think deep down it is always something in the body giving the breaks and mind cannot follow. You can be physically exhausted from training while you feel fresh mentally, and the other way around, both worsening the results and feeling like losing control hence getting unconfident.
