Can you film at eye level? You point the camera to the ground and and we can't get much out of the video. I am interested in your experience there since that is where my husband and I are moving too.

Hi BrightEyes0110. So you've been there since April of this year 2017. How are you liking it? How are the PEOPLE down there? Are they prejudice against people from USA/aka gringos? If so would it be a bad idea for a white "gringo" to move there. I ask because I have the same concerns as you and I am nodding in agreement with everything you are saying in this video. I see English is the main language there and many other positive things about Guyana, so I am researching it. Thanks for any advice. God bless you and your family!

They going think you have a lot of money, so they going to over charge in price because you look white and have an American accents or British. The people are every friendly. The only thing that affordable is food, internet, and cable. Eating at American fast food is expensive. Everything else is expensive. If going to move them down there, is better to buy a house.There a lot of crime in the Caribbean, there a lot of car accidents, people drive irresponsible, (driving while under the influence). They have free education, and it is good, also free health care, which is questionable because a lot young doctors come from over sea and experiment on the local that live there. Doctors are not held accountable if they make a mistake, if you can afford it the you go to a private doctor. I only stay there for four months, I wanted to see if I can survive on my own, the jobs down there is not enough for you to move up, the only better option is to start your own business. When you work for people in Guyana, you make very little money, but you have your own business, you make more money. People down there will barter as another way to survive. I think the best business to invest in Guyana is beauty supplies, food service, hotels or rent to overseas people, and gold.

You held the camera down so I kept trying to get some kind of view. The reason for returning to Guyana is commendable. You made a wise choice. Private school is working out. I planning to buy a property which I have already seen in Enmore I just need to visit and inspect it properly. My husband warned me not to buy " cat in bag" 😂 That's his Grenadian perception. We already have a place in Silver Hill off the Linden Highway. Now we are looking for place closer to airport and town. It's a bit pricey but it's a beautiful place.

Staying in America to make money to do what? You can make money in Guyana also. Her children is the priority their future is dependent on the parents making the right choices. We had to send our daughter out of arms way abroad it was sad.

What I realized about my time there is I was annoying as ever because people who I didn’t want there followed me from North America (New York) all the way to South America (Guyana) so I was reflecting and I’d realize I’d be the type of individual to depend on people to defend me and be a flesh eating virus instead of fighting my own battles I started. So the only things I can come up with is I was probably friends with a secret agent and I didn’t know until I found out how many people didn’t like me which was unnecessary information, oh well

Thanks for the video...whats the average cost of rent per month for a 1 bedroom apartment/home with minimal furnishings outside of Georgetown? what are the actual costs of living per month. I've been researching Guyana for a while and it would great if you can share your insight, thanks!
@BrightEyes01107 жыл бұрын
To rent in Georgetown is 300 a month, the average income is 200 a month for guyanese people. In US dollars, when you go out of georgetown is cheaper but I don't know how much. Internet is 6000 guyanese dollar a month, cell phone service is 4000 guyanese dollars a month. 6000 is like 60 US dollars a month. Food is very cheap down their.

Thanks for the info...I'm an American and looking to take 6 months to a year off in Guyana. I'm well traveled and have some savings. Would you say it's difficult to communicate in English? Also do you have any info on how much an acre of land is outside the city? I've been living outside the U.S for years and only return seldom to visit family, however I realize I need to be amongst more "black" people that are living outside the U.S and speak English. Also, how difficult or easy is it to avoid the mosquitos? How is it with getting a license and are there scooters/motorbikes available to rent or buy? Thanks again and I'll stay tuned for more videos :)

may be just born in Guyana but grew up as an American, this woman has a lot of confusion, some American blacks move to Guyana because they see black people in Guyana speaking English ,but the culture in Guyana is totally different from America ,having kentucy fried chicken stores in Guyana does not make Guyanese be American.
