Here’s another tip. If you’re in a neighborhood with a lot of graffiti where some of it appears to be scribbling out or “crossing out” other graffiti, you’re likely in territory where 2 gangs are fighting with each other. Be very careful in those areas and don’t get caught in the middle of it!

Dont mumble, never show fear, stay calm, be respectful. Downtown LA is very bad no matter how expensive it is. Racism is a whole different ball game than NY, and that will reflect in healthcare, work environments, and housing. As someone who’s lived in LA and is from the Bay, I can say that the whole state done went off a damn cliff. Even when it was bad in the 90s there were still areas you could go to to get away from all the crime and drama. Now, even in some bougie and posh areas you gotta keep your head on a swivel. Just a few weeks ago there was a shooting in Pier 39 in San Francisco, a HELLA touristy area. Something like that was unheard of before. “Bipping” in the Bay Area is getting out of control and LA definitely ain’t much better. I’ve said many times that I don’t understand why people not from here or don’t have any family ties here would move out here long term. The cost of living is high and other than the really great weather and topography the costs ain’t really worth it if you just out here to parlay. With all of that said though, it isn’t as bad or good as the movies and media have historically portrayed it. Everywhere ain’t gonna be like the Boyz in the Hood movie just like everywhere ain’t gonna be like the Beverly Hills 90210 show. The reality is somewhere in the middle of all that and it’s important to do adequate research before moving ANYWHERE.

How is the public transportation? I'm thinking of moving there from Boston
@AdeebShabazz Жыл бұрын
@@RellyMedia the public transportation is alright. It all depends on what you're trying to get done. As a native New Yorker who grew up with what is probably the premier public transportation system, and also as someone who just spent 21 years in a town (Savannah) that has a horrible transportation system, I found a middle ground here. The train system is relatively new (30 years) and is still being built, so the routes are limited. The busses take up the slack where the trains leave off, and they run pretty regularly: about every 10-15 minutes. If you are living in L.A. and trying to get around in L.A. then you shouldn't have a problem. If you are traveling between L.A. and Long Beach, Azusa, San Fernando Valley, or the San Gabriel Valley then you'll do fine. The problem is that L.A. COUNTY is SO large that many of the other cities and towns in the area are inaccessible or poorly accessible by public transportation, so if you are moving here and want to rely on public transportation, choose L.A., downtown Long Beach, Azusa or somewhere very nearby those locations, avoiding other cities and suburbs in the are before you investigate them individually about their transportation proximity.

I moved to LA (Highland Park specifically) for one year and LA is the worst, Bad traffic, LOTS of homeless people, dirty streets and sidewalks, lots of plasticity and fake people and yes the crime is insane, Someone on my block was shot and killed by a homeless person when I lived in Highland Park. Lots of car accidents, very high rent, high car insurance because of all the accidents. (Ive only gotten into two car accidents in my life and both were in LA on the freeway caused by other people). The only thing I actually liked was the weather and even then it becomes like Groundhog Day because everyday is literally the same except in the winter when it rains.
