I am from the nyc area. Left to do the self discovery thing too (always a great thing to do and very not corny), which took me to London, LA, San Fran and Tokyo. Back in NY now (just for the money with a high paying job) and it's a shit hole. My recommend: take your good summer experience, thank your lucky stars you weren't mugged, violated or worse by the growing crime, filth, corruption and scams there and then gtfo while you still safely can and find a better place to discover yourself. I plan to escape this rat sewer again and head back to Tokyo after a short hop in Miami personally. Btw: if you think snow and shitty winters suck nyc isn't the place. Also you're way too young and full of potential to be steered in any way by a freaking relationship. Get on with YOU as you and for you. When you're genuinely ready for someone else, you'll know cause you'll be up for it, yet not needing it.
