I just finished reading your book A YEAR IN TOKYO and immediately came here to catch up on your Japan videos! 🌸 I enjoyed your book so so much. It was such a harmonious symmetry of memoir and travel guide that I couldn’t put down, and the illustrations so charming and beautiful. Looking forward to watching these videos 🤩 It’s kind of like watching a movie after you’ve read the book and knowing it’s going to be a perfect adaptation! 🇯🇵

Awesome video! I visited Japan in January and loved it! I really want to go back to Tokyo to stay for a while. Do you have any tips on the kind of work I can do in order to move to Tokyo and sustain myself financially? Also, have you heard of many short term internships there for example 6 weeks? Thanks!

Can you please do a video on how you got ready to move to japan? I’m 14 and I am completely set on my dream to move to Tokyo XD. I wanted to know what is the cheapest an apartment is there that allows pets, how to get an apartment there for when you move, same for a job, the process, how long it took, how much money you have to save up to move, how to get citizenship? If you did make a video on this then it would be SO helpful since I want to start saving as soon as I get a proper job, when I’m 16, :).

Good luck with your adventures! I am aiming to do the same in April, but in Sapporo. :)

That's so cool! Sapporo is absolutely lovely. I hope you really, really like it :)

Me too, it will be my first time in Japan too. But hoping to live there for 2 years at least. :)
@christy-anne-jones7 жыл бұрын
Awesome! You'll love it :) You've probably already thought of this, but, if you haven't been here before try to do as much research as you can to minimise the culture shock. It'll make the transition way, way easier ~
@LukeRowlandXXV7 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, definitely been doing my research for years :) Only just able to afford saving to follow this dream. The difference in Culture from England to Japan will be expected, and appreciated. There are many things I wish to do when I get there. I am a Black Belt in TaeKwonDo, so would love to assist in teaching an English TaeKwonDo class at a local club (Already found and waiting for me :P) I can snowboard, so would be able to organise snowboarding trips and such. I would also like to get in touch with Buddhism, and will immediately seek out volunteering opportunities. So much I am going to achieve in all this. :)

When you guys make some $$$ I suggest the hard suitcases from Muji. They're worth the splurge. Super sleek and quiet, 4-wheel spinners with a wheel lock for when riding the train or standing on uneven ground. The carry-on is perfect for mini trips around Japan when you have to navigate multiple crowded train stations and need your suitcase to be able to keep up with the speed and maneuver around crowds. I love mine.
