I am latina, living in Canada, and I don’t think the dislike of Meghan is based on the colour of her skin. Funny story: after the release of the mockumentary, my in-laws (who are white, as white can be), came to visit and declared they were “team Meghan and Harry”. I think they assumed I was also, because I am dark… and they were eager to show that they are NOT racist, therefore supported her. So when I said I disliked H and M very much, they became a little confused and defensive. I asked them what made them be on their side, and one their arguments was that “they were humanitarians, and they did a lot of charity work”, they even said that Meghan was a humanitarian long before she met Harry. And so I said, that is not true, show me what they have done, and so he went on his phone looking (thinking he would prove me wrong right away), and after a few minutes he said “ oh, I can’t find anything” 😂😂😂. So after a few days of research, they declared that they no longer were team H &M.😂😂😂

I know for a fact, many left and unsubscribed, and some came back (me included) but he stood on moral ground and refused to change his point of view, fair is fair and when I realized he was a person of his word, I resubscribed. River, I am totally with you on the smell of old books. As a child, my parents had an antique collection of the complete works of Shakespeare. I would use the lower shelves as my “stepladder” and hoping I wasn’t caught I'd pull one volume down from the top bookshelf and sink my nose into the yellowing pages, some of which were so delicate, the stitching that bound the book was coming undone. The leather cover was smooth and the embossed gold leaf title on the front cover and the spine of the book had partially worn away. I would sit on the floor and read vociferously, learning the famous soliloquies simply to show off to my parents and sister who always called me odd or strange. I have a spinal cord injury and recently I overheard my mother saying to my cleaning Angel Ruta that I’ve always been odd. Ruta said with her Latvian directness ‘No not odd, she is unique’ My mother is 91 and whenever she’s moved house since my father died 38 years ago, the books have always been delicately packed and are on her bookshelf to this day. One day they will be passed down to me and then to my grandson who is a bookworm. I love tip jar corner and I have to admit I have severe headband envy when I watch every broadcast.

River you need never explain yourself to persons who use racism as a crutch . I’m SA and wasn’t raised a racist , my white parents never tolerated this disgusting law and I’ve raised my children the same but because I’m white it’s automatic that I’m a racist. I'm miffed that I shall never get to sit in a cosy cafe and have a super gossip across the table with you. You must be a wonderful best-friend to have. My own bestie died last year, she was the life and soul of the party type, but a truly good person. We'd known each other since our teens, and had so many fun times together, so I miss her, though we only met up a few times a year. River I love your beautifully-spoken English and your strength of character, you also make me laugh so much at times. The 'racist' word is sometimes bandied about so 'unfairly' nowadays and it's become like a weapon. We're all here on this planet and should be more respectful to each other - as long as a person is kind and does no harm to others. H&M brought all this bad publicity upon themselves, as you inferred. You know - I believe that many of the British people who feel angry, are HURT underneath. We welcomed her, and then we were all called racist. Unkind and Unfair. Thank you River, I wish you success and look forward to tuning in to you again. Enjoy the coronation everyone!

I believed that she was a “good girl”… that’s how she presented… then I felt really bad that the press was attacking her… I was even happy for her to having left the UK to have a private life.. all was well until the Oprah interview!! I was soooo taken aback! She talked and talked and I could spot the moments where she was lying… she has a strong tell! She touched her nose every time she would bend the truth… I noticed she just wasn’t an honest person and she looked to me very superficial and self centered… after that I watched programs that were critical of her behaviors and realized the press was not being racist at all, they were judging her on her character. Like River said: “it’s alright for them to reveal secrets of their family” but heaven’s forbid someone make a comment or sets the record straight about them.. that’s when you start noticing how fragile their egos are…

However, I do have a devious mind and can see it used by Me-gain in a future as ammunition or emotional blackmail :" You see, you see, your Daddy doesn't love you like Mummy does. As a Hispanic immigrant in the US I'm so tired of people throwing out at the race card to win their arguments. It's even been used against me because I can speak the English language without a Spanish accent and everyone knows we Hispanics speak like Ricky Ricardo.

Regarding your lovely books River, it doesn’t matter if you don’t get around to reading them all. Winston Churchill said that you don’t have to read books fully. He said to just pick one up and peruse through it pick up snippets from it or read just one paragraph now and then. Surround yourself with the wonder of books. They are old and reliable friends - comforting, absorbing and satisfying. ☺️

I am with you here River. I love Victorian novels. The English they used was rich and wonderful; Dickens could make a sentence last as long as a paragraph. I particularly loved Martin Chuzzlewit; his opening preface was describing Martin’s connection to aristocracy as one of his ancestors had been hung for sheep stealing. Such a wonderful acid sense of humour, I laughed out loud.

I am sad you hear you have had some unkind comments. Yes, they clearly haven't seen your previous videos. I love your commentary as it is so balanced, informed and extremely fair. Never nasty and only funny. They don't get you. We appreciate all your hard work and efforts to inform us and makes us chuckle. You always make my day. Their loss.

Tip Jar Corner was a lot of fun today! I love all your newly found trinkets. I collect antiques; my favorites being old books and postcards. Especially if they've been written on. I love reading notes of the past. I always look up addresses in the books and on the cards too. It's nice that Google Maps shows an image of the house or building if they're still standing.

@@mariaharrison7228 She didn't say it. This was another instance of a lie that people regurgitated, with no sources whatsoever, and is why I sometimes have sympathy for the misinformation put out there about her. I urge you to check your sources and check their sources! 'A friend of a friend heard someone...' is only a whisper or a rumour, but not a fact! x
