There is something many people are not taking into count - being in the comfort of your home, being "prepared" that something will happen next couple of seconds, being able to rewind, watch it again, rewind, watch it again and then analyze - this is not how the real life works. You have one chance, many more "inputs/distractions" and have to analyze way more data, you are usually not prepared and have way less time to react. I often check some situations on my camera and they are so different than what I "saw" and "remember".

At my local track days it's often very quiet at the end of the day. Just last weekend I could have gone out and had the whole track to myself.. but I'd already hit a new personal best and decided to call it a day. And because he was already at/close to the limit of his steering he had to wait for the car to slow to allow him the extra amount of steering to avoid the car. With the massive windshield pillars that are typical of modern vehicles, there's no way most drivers would have seen that car until they were less than 30 meters away. The GR Yaris is an awesome car but does not have great forward visibility.
@MikkoRantalainen4 ай бұрын
Yes, you have to intentionally peak around the pillar to see if there's anything worth knowing. I hate it but I understand that even with high strength steel you have to make those pillars pretty thick to be able to contain both strong enough windshield pillar and one or more airbags. And sometimes even ventilation piping. I'd rather have a car without air vents in the pillar if I can get better visibility in return.

A minimum, the dude getting out of the car would have had both of his legs crushed by the door if Misha had failed to avoid the collision. The A-pillar on certain cars can be very dangerous. I remember driving a Volkswagen Scirocco lots of years ago when I took my license. We were coming up to a roundabout, and there was a car inside it that I just did not see but the instructor saw, so he hit the brakes for me. The A pillar on that car was so terrible for my height so it was literally blocking most things to the side of me. When you have to really lower your head and tilt it forward and backwards and side to side to see other traffic it becomes ridiculous. The roof on the car was too low and the A pillar too wide = lethal.
@MikkoRantalainen4 ай бұрын
Surpringinly many modern cars have such a wide A pillar that you have to keep peeking around the pillar all the time if you don't like driving blind.
@a8f2354 ай бұрын
@@MikkoRantalainen Well, certain cars you can easily live with, but that Scirocco was just dangerous for me at 184cm height because both the A pillar and the roof edge over the side window was just too low and too wide. Just try to do a google image search of the Volkswagen Scirocco, and get a shot covering both front and sides and you'll quickly see what I mean.

I remember driving on a curved road in a parking lot, and there was a pedestrian walking at the exact speed and angle that he remained hidden by the A pillar until I was almost to him. @flammenjc4 ай бұрын
The driver sits on the left, in that corner using your head and shifting your upper body position to accommodate it [if needed] the side window allows you to see a little bit more on the left than what a centre mounted camera would but saying that, I don't know how the A pillar is affecting 1/4 vision in that car. However one thing is clear if you lowered your speed a bit more to make sure that Toyota isn't going to drop into the Karussell in front of you instead of sending it and just hoping they would, then you'd have been able to have your eyes forward at lot earlier instead of the focus being on him. In the end, it's a track day with rules and situations more similar to driving on the public road than driving in a closed event. I've seen another video from you with a similar incident here into the Karussell before, instead of fully committing to waiting for the car ahead to communicate their intent you sent it anyway. Just take it as a warning to be more careful. You get 9 lives if you're lucky.

This is NOT a race with marshalls everywhere and knowledgeable drivers. I would wait til I see/hear nobody and run behind the barrier.
