You forget the rainbow bar when you dodge well you get a free front step by the big mama boss. You can often use ability from other bloodcodes and mixup your play style with heavy weapons. Many Bloodcodes have very good knockback abilitiies and good buffs for heavy weapons. But like the game a lot play it 6 time to the end and have the hardest challange in the game named Alpha and Omega. This was so fucking hard to becoming it. But it comes later in the Dlc. One Info when you play heavy weapons, use hybrid builds with a bloodcode they have many magic point why. You cast small spells to deal with fast enemy and your heavy weapons for big guys with abilitys they have knockback good combos.

Experiment with different bloodcodes and skills/weapons, this game heavily rewards you for utilising all parts of the combat system not just R1 and using buffs. Try to mix in magic gifts, weapon gifts, etc you will find the combat becoming a lot easier

Oh I somehow forgot this game has gift and relationship system 😅 It's actually very nice to know who likes what as you can get some extra strong codes early on. Yakumo's code, I think it's called Atlas is one of the strongest if not the strongest option for most melee builds and can easily carry you through the game

I like how you don't have to repeat the depths if you want to refight the boss. After you've done it once you can go straight to the boss They don't scale up tho 😢

You're supposed to be switching Codes a lot early on, which is definitely one of the worst reasons you had so much trouble Another important thing some people take a while to realise is how important gifts are. Even melee centric builds have to use them a lot

Healing in middle of a fight isn't going to help you, especially not if there's more than 2 enemies, you're also locking on in fights with multiple enemies, you probably shouldn't do that and just use the analogue stick to move the camera.
