You look so happy! Not stressed. Good for you. Sounds like the flower farm needs to be let go, and maybe you can just grow flowers for fun or to sell bouquets, when you have them, at your nursery. Less pressure! I feel you on the veggie garden. Mine us all raised beds and is an absolute weedy mess and I miss growing in it. Trying to revamp it for the fall!

I was so glad to see this post. Sounds like you are making a lot of changes and I can't wait to see what happens, I love your raised bed garden. I have the lights in mine too. I love to look at it at night. I have a suggestion for your raised bed. Two years ago I started covering mine with cardboard. in the fall. It eliminates weed growth and encourages earthworms to go higher in your soil. It also allows me to use each bed when I want to. I waited to plant 2 beds with a late crop of zinnias and when I removed the cardboard (in the middle of June) they were weed-free and ready to go. I live in NC and of course, have different growing situations. So many of the flowers you grow do not do well in my hot, humid 7b zone, but I love watching your posts!!

I “disbudded” many a mum before they shipped already de-budded. Best job ever but it is very demanding for the owners.

Muddy Acres, which was a cut flower farm in Michigan, has transitioned away from cut flowers. She made more income on just peony season than her whole cut flower season. Can't wait to see your veggie garden set up.

Here for any and all quail content if you have the time, they are literally my favorite animal. So precious and adorable. They scuttle. I love birds that scuttle. Quail eggs marinated in soy sauce are popular in Korean cuisine so I highly recommend you try that once you have them.

So glad you were safe from storms,new was close. Sorry about the rabbit,had that last year. My garden is a disaster as the wind thrashed grape vines into raspberry and squash shot up just as bindweed apeared...there is mint in there somewhere. Ground hog is back so made hardware cloth sheath for zucchini, spaghetti squash came volunteer from compost...van woman live on squash and eggs? Shall see. Love hearing your happiness

You can go ahead and say zone 5, no need to wait a few years. They based the adjustment off of historical weather data (in Canada here it's the past 30 years they look at), not projected weather. My area has gone up half a zone each time they've adjusted since 1990. You've had such a busy year getting the nursery going and flower farming on top of that. Hope all is well.

My flower farm this year is suffering too. I pretty much only have zinnias. All of my snaps got flooded out, everything else either got flooded out or ruined and delayed by a major hail storm that passed through just my tiny little town. Celosia is just now starting, but ya, pretty much zinnias and celosia are the only flowers I’ll have a lot of. I haven’t been able to make it to the market either, let alone really sell anything… I don’t know what to do, but as I say every year, there’s always next year!
