Ryan "Fluff" Bruce just did a video where he explained how while on tour in Europe with his band Dragged Under they realized their equipment did not arrive from Seattle to the UK and he was able to prove it to the airline because he had AirTags in every case.
@castleanthrax18332 жыл бұрын
Prove what? That his bags didn't arrive. Don't they believe you about stuff like that? I mean if you haven't actually got your bags, isn't that proof enough?
@0scill8r2 жыл бұрын
@@castleanthrax1833 it proves that they’re in Seattle, rather than where they were supposed to be. The AirTag makes it so the airline doesn’t have to locate, just return.

I’ve tried all kinds of “old man” straps since I injured both shoulders years ago. Walter Trout (also bad shoulders) his strap, and they don’t work for me. I use the Robben Ford (also old guy) style of strap. Pelican are excellent. I have a Mono bag for my pedalboard, and it’s held up exceptionally well. I always carry an overdrive and reverb pedal in my carry-on. In the same pouch as my prescription meds.

It was interesting seeing all your stuff for your tour dates. These days I just play local gigs every weekend. I didn't see any pick supply in your gear. I always carry a couple of small personal flashlights. Other things I always bring for a gig is a cloth or two for the stage to wipe the guitar if necessary or to quickly wipe up a spill plus I bring manicure equipment with me to a gig. It can drive me crazy at a gig to try and play if one nail happens to be a little too long or cracked or a ragged edge. Also sealed moistened towelletes are handy if you quickly need to clean off your hands and can't get to a nearby sink.

Deoxit also comes in a small squeeze tube, so you can keep it in your fly rig. Agree it's essential. Other thing that's great to bring is a 3 prong to IEC adapter - turns any extension cord into an IEC.

The problem with AirTags is if someone takes your bag, and they have an iPhone on their person, the phone will alert them that they are being tracked by an AirTag. So they will know it’s there. This is because people were unscrupulously hiding AirTags on people and following them.

RE: The neoprene pad. I've done some leather work in my time, so I have no shortage of suitable leather scraps around. I keep one with my restringing kit, and use that to cushion the guitar. Protective, and non slip, and I already had it, so no extra cost. Win.

Solid setup. I would add a few choice items. A tube of Big Benz Nut Sauce. A little in each nut slot and the saddle V's and you will improve tuning stability and reduce string breakage. A String Stretcha. It's a plastic stick with a hook and heel on one end. Tune a new string up to pitch, run the Stretcha up and down a few times, check your tune and it will be a whole step lower. It stretches a new string in 30 seconds so you go on stage with stable strings. I know it sounds corny and gimicky, but once you use it, you will come to depend on it. And last but certainly not least is a Snark clip on tuner. I know there's a ton of tuning apps, pedals and other clip ons. But the Snark is super accurate, very high visibility and inconspicuous. You can tune silently, in a noisy room where your phone app will pick up transients, and in the dark. For $20, that's cheap

I always played with coiled cords in the 60’s until they went out of fashion and my plug ends wore out. One of mine was light gray and got filthy from dragging on stage. When I bought a new Fender coiled cord a few years ago it was nothing like the 60’s originals. The 60’s style had the same weight and flexibility of the land line phone cords (remember those?). The new ones are constructed of thick, stiff, heavy cable that doesn’t stretch and return unlike the old ones. I realize that the new ones provide a cleaner signal, but the reason that they were popular in the 60’s is gone. I use mine from my pedal board to my amp so that it’s not a total waste. It’s too damn heavy and stiff to use directly from my guitar. That’s why they’re not flying off the shelves this time around.

Totally off topic but- I bought an Alairex HALO jr. without ever having heard one or anything- just had a gut feeling about it, plus it was a really good deal- 65 bucks. They run about 200 or so usually so- I snagged it. But man am I pleasantly surprised- this is the best sounding overdrive I've ever used- I've played Centaur clones, and Morning Glories, and Blues Drivers, Blues Breakers of every flavor, and all that good stuff- and I like them all but- this thing is special. IT has a choice between asymmetrical and symmetrical clipping- which is nothing ground breaking but- if you turn the gain all the way down and then flip to asymmetric clipping- you get this absolutely perfect bluesy, just a tad of grit, yet still sparkly, goodness- man it's awesome. Flip to my neck pick up and it's just money- I love this thing. Plus- if you want gain- it's got plenty on tap- you can go all the way to smooth saturated lead tones and because you have Contour, Gain, Tone, and Bass controls- you can shape it about anyway you like- it makes decent preamp. That's what HALO stands for- "Harmonic Amp Like Overdrive". It probably doesn't push enough to really be used as a preamp- you'll still want to hit the front of your amp with it- I think, haven't tried it in the FX loop yet. Hmm- I'll get back to you on that. But usually- if one is pushing enough to go straight to the power amp with it and you run it through the front anyway- you hear it caving in when you turn it up, the preamp can't handle it. I haven't noticed that with this one.
