I never thought it would be so easy to cut a glass bottle with an eraser - Amazed!

My dad used to do this with cotton string and alcohol. Soak the string in alcohol after the string is wrapped around the bottle, light it and when the fire's out, tap the bottle at the string. Great memories - thank you for reminding me of them :-)

Fill the bottle with oil to the level where you want the cut. Heat a metal rod with a gas flame until it's just starting to glow red then plunge it into the oil. The glass should break neatly at the level of the surface of the oil.
