Yes, it is a beautiful song- perfect for a wedding or Valentine's Day. This is an old song that came out in 1934 for the movie Dames. It was eventually performed in the Broadway musical, "42nd Street". This is definitely an oldie but goodie. :)

@@CC2Cents_ update: Other incredible love songs: ROBERTA FLACK sings 'Killing Me Softly' and 'The First Time (Ever I Saw Your Face).' These are from 1972. She is an absolute beauty with her person and voice. She also sang with DONNIE HATHAWAY, an incredible team, sang 'Where is Your Love.' MARVIN GAYE sings "Distant Lover" another smooth, silky and melt-away love song. Saw him in '74. He also sang with TAMMIE TERRELL in the '60s (before her sudden death in '68). You will enjoy their interaction because they were actually in love as well. Her death (brain tumour) was devastating to him and all of us, another beautiful lady and with her voice. Keep up you great videos.

The Flamingos recorded a long roster of songs from the early 1950s and into the early 1960s. "I Only Have Eyes For You" was a very old evergreen written probably prior to 1920. That song was recorded by many great artists throughout the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, & 1950s. About 7 or 8 years prior to the Flamingos' version, the song was recorded by another black, rhythm & blues group, named the Swallows, who also did a great recording of that song. The song is from the 30's -------and I believe it was Fred Astaire whp sang it ???? Don't quote me. But it is a 30's song. The Flamingoes, with fantastic arrangement & production, transformed this into a Doo Wop Classic. -----------------MJL< 76 y/o

It's actually and Old School Standard the way Blue Moon and Unchained Melody are. Every Generation influenced the next Generation. The Flamingos were one of many Groups that were popular in the 1950's. There were The Monotones, Coasters Drifters Moonglows (That Marvin Gaye got his Start in), The Five Royales, Cadillacs, and countless others. If you can check them out performing on The Dick Clark Saturday Night Beechnut Show in 1959. They were a major influence for the "Next" Geneartion of Groups most notably The Temptations. It was also featured in American Graffitti and The Wonder Years.
