One of the things I love about this series is there is a lot of characters and references to Japanese Mythology, which help enrichen the story, It is a very strongly character arc driven series with strong emotional themes, and an underlying story which is heavily layered, Similar with Bleach though both have very distinct differences.

Put it in the picture how Naruto has been using his chakra for days on end, fighting the most powerful beings ever. So going into this fight he was already tired, with only half of his tailed beast power, and most of his own chakra already likely depleted. Sasuke however just absorbed like 8 and 1/2 tailed beast chakra so he’s stronger than ever. PLUS Naruto was holding back, Naruto is a beast.

Sasuke won the first fight, but only because Naruto pulled that last attack. Basically, Naruto was trying to save Sasuke, while Sasuke was trying to kill Naruto. Naruto was holding back.

As much as you might want it to mean something, Naruto not being able to feel his left arm because of over exposure to the Kyuubi's chakra doesn't mean anything, because Naruto used his right hand for the Rasengan.

Sasuke wasn't stronger than Naruto! He just had stronger urge to kill Naruto due to his personal reasons and understanding of peace. Sasuke as a character grew a lot and his priorities kept on changing, the only thing that stayed constant was the urge to kill Naruto due to XYZ reason. However, Naruto never fought with Sasuke with an intend to kill! He just wanted his friend back in the village and get him out of the shit he was into. He always wanted the best for Sasuke and hence he was more defensive in the fights.

If you couldn't see that strike when Naruto saw sasuke's reflection in the headband and upper-cutted him in the jaw. Sasuke's strike was already way off trajectory and Sasuke is generally faster than Naruto which means it wouldn't have hit anyway. Because he probably saw himself in the reflection about to kill Naruto and subconsciously couldn't go through with it.
