Jumping spiders are the only ones that don't creep me out. They are cute and furry. Plus they actually notice you and don't act like they instantly want to bite you! They make really good, cute, little pets. I'll kill any other spider I see except for these little guys!😊❤ Love your videos! You are really very funny! My grand daughters actually request to watch your videos cuz they think you are hilarious too!! Keep up the great videos! ❤❤❤

you should. definitely give jumping spiders BIGGGGGG terrariums. unlike tarantulas that get stressed in large terrs jumping spiders LOVE exploring playing and just chilling. they absolutely love larger housing with varried terrain. mine had a corner with leafs sticks and grasses. a open area with some leaf grass but lots of open spaces with a few rocks to hide in or sit on. with a stray stick to use for hunting. a small "pound" for a water dish. and then had glued sticks and fish tank leafs to the tall walls for them to climb jump play and hunt in. they seemed very happy with the varried terrains.

The terrarium has a hole most likely to allow the spider to make its home in a separate part that is detachable. Jumping spiders make their homes their burrows up high and can be easily damaged unless you have a detachable lid of sorts that contains that part of it's habitat.

A wittle jumping spider. Australia has a few stocky little jumping spiders that the hubby and I have had the pleasure of enjoying seeing in our garden over the years. It could be a female seeing as regius females can have black coloration, and of course the pink chelicerae. The abdomen seems small, usually males have smaller and more triangle shaped abdomen but this will likely change as she gets older. To confirm her as a female when she’s mature (final molt), just check her underside for a little hole on her abdomen, called the epigyne.

Yay... you have a jumping spider!! I found your channel about 2 months back or so and I just wanted to tell you that I love your channel, love what you do... I learn a lot from your videos... and I can't tell you enough how much I love your sense of humor... its amazing!! lol ANYWAY.... CONGRATS ON YOUR NEW JUMPING SPIDER!! She is incredibly cute... has such a cute little face and she seems like a good jumper too... lol I finally found one about 2 weeks ago... It's a female... and she's a BOLD JUMPING SPIDER.... so anyway after one week of eating very well... she cocooned herself in and I can see a very narrow opening.. it's like a pillowcase where the top of the opening is touching the bottom part of the area you put the pillow in... anyway... that is what she did... she hasn't been out of this cocoon since she made it... the webbing is very thick... I read that when they do that they're either molting OR if its a female they're getting ready to become a mommy... of what I hope will be tons of little babies.... They also say... (whoever is they...lol) anyway... they say wild caught mature females most likely have mated... So anyway.. if I get babies.... I'll let everyone know... (like anyone cares..lol but still going to let everyone here know... 🙂) I'm so excited... I may in the near future have tons of the little ones playing in their enclosure until I have to separate them... I hope you all have a wonderful morning/afternoon/day/evening/night... use which one fits in the time you're reading this...LOL Like you didn't know... I just wanted to be helpful.. lol

You should be able to tell based on how big she is. If she looks like she still has some growing to do, it’s probably a moult. If she’s all grown up, maybe you’ll be getting an egg sac! If she’s all sealed in, don’t put any food in there for now, but keep the humidity in the tank up. If she’s moulting, at some point you’ll see what looks like a second spider in the web hammock. Still don’t feed anything yet though. When her exoskeleton has firmed up she will push the old exoskeleton out of the hammock. Soon after this she will be ready to eat again. If you feed too soon, not only can the prey animals hurt the spider, but she can also hurt herself if she tries to eat them; it can cause fang damage, which will result in starvation and ultimately death. I hope that you enjoy your new spider! Wild caught specimens are more likely to have parasites so just something to be aware of. You can reduce the chance of her or her babies picking up more parasites by not feeding wild-caught prey. I’ve loved my jumping spider! I got her to help me get over my arachnaphobia, and now I have 3 jumpers, 7 tarantulas, a false widow, a wolf spider, and a couple of interesting little friends I found in the garden. They’re a lot of fun to watch and also a good motivator to get up and on with life if you have mental or physical health problems (which I do). They’ve been an absolute lifesaver for me, literally.

First thank you so much for your reply and your help with my jumping spider.... I am VERY VERY new to this... and I was also incredibly terrified of spiders... every species of spiders I was terrified of.... that was until.................................. EVERYWHERE and found all kinds of spiders but not jumping spiders... So I gave up looking... and one week after giving up.. One darn near jumping in my hand...lol I was at my aunts house and I needed to put the grill cover back on the grill and she was on that... I was so excited ..... She was hard to catch... but I did it... I can't thank you enough for all the information you gave to me. It was amazing information and out of all of the information you wrote to me.. Thanks again and I hope you have a very good weekend... Thank you!!

If she hasn't mated but isn't molting, it's likely that she's just laying an infertile egg sack She'll likely protect it for a while if that's the case, wait for her to abandon it before taking it out as to not stress her!
@trala8911
@trala8911 Жыл бұрын
@wendysheets1916 You’re very welcome! I’m so glad I could be helpful :) Sounds like the right jumping spider was just waiting to find you! They’re wonderful little animals, and it’s a fantastic way to help get over arachnophobia. Speaking of, you should be very proud of yourself for taking steps to do so, the majority of people who are afraid of spiders go their whole lives afraid of them, and once you start pushing to recover from one fear, you’ll find it easier to pull together and overcome others in the future. I wish you all the best with your little friend! One other tip I’ll leave you with, is that if you do wind up with a fertile egg sac and babies, when they hatch you might want to put a tuppaware or box over the top of the enclosure; you’ll need to refresh the air in it somehow, but those little guys come out *tiny* and once they start moving around, they’ll get out of any ventilation holes pretty easily. If you do get babies you’ll want to look up some videos on what to do next as you might need to get in an awful lot of little vials or sauce pots ready to separate them when the time comes!

Fun fact: it's because of the placement of their main eyes. Our brains can work better with a known facial structure. 2 big eyes in a flat "face" helps with that. But also the "paws" make it more cat or puppy like. Same often goes for velvet spiders for similar reasons. Doesn't work well for ogre faced spiders, as their proportions are off

I saw an article about a shipment of spiders packaged the same way, and over half of them died due to lack of oxygen. It's sad that people don't put that into consideration, but when shipping a love animal that needs to breath there has to be some way for them to be able to.

Sweet spider...I think it's a female as indicated by the coloration on her back..the one I had dropped from my hand to the floor and took off! It took me 2 days to find her..another great video!

Jumping spiders actually thrive better in an smaller terrarium, its easier for them to find their food & web. Don't upgrade to an too big enclosure 🙂

This is a common misconception. Jumping spiders are very active spiders that hunt and explore. The bigger the terrarium the better. If you provide them enough food to hunt at least.

I used to keep Tarantulas, I had five breeds. I also once had a black widow make her nest in a small peg-hole in the leg of my desk. I didn't bother her, and she didn't bother me. I've always loved spiders, there is something beautiful and graceful about them.
