I don’t think you can just make different nominees in categories like “best action” etc. Yes I see wood’s point. But that’s kind of the issue with having awards like that. That’s why the Oscars don’t really do that besides format like animated, documentary etc. But you won’t ever see “best horror film” or “best adventure film” or “best rom com” etc. But even if it’s obvious that for example Astro would win best action/adventure- should you really lessen the award even more by giving it to a lesser nominee? It kind of goes against the whole point of the awards to give it to the best of the best of that category if you now say “ oh well you can’t because you’re already up for game of the year”. Awards shows should be simply about choosing the best in each category, it’s not about being surprising or not.

People upset over the Witcher 4, from what I can tell is cause of the Trial of Grasses from the novels. Basically it's a really dangerous transformation and it's rare for a subject to survive to become a Witcher. I've read the novels btw. Here's the thing. I've had multiple people state women can't survive the trial, which is not true. It's stated that all women have died who did it, but not once has it stated it's impossible for a women to do so as it's also killed plenty of men too. So I take it they're simply sexist at this point when they argue that to me. That or they hate change and want Geralt to be the MC forever despite his story being over at this point.

Agreed that this Game Awards was good. Also agree that Witcher 4 having Ciri as protagonist is awesome (I'm very biased tho) and I think that space game looks interesting. However one thing I wish for you to do is; next year please vote for what YOU think should win, not what you think others will vote for. The whole point of voting is so vote for your favorite, no one else's. This applies to all voting. And if you want to have a section like "this is who I think will win despite my vote", which I think is a cool idea and it will continue/restart your streak, then go ahead and do that. You can put on the screen something like "Here's my vote, and here's my prediction".

I couldn't disagree more. This event was a corporate, musical slog through the barren wasteland of quality titles released this year. This in no way represented the video games that I grew up loving and is a disappointing look into the future that gaming is headed. I do love seeing a beatemups video pop up in my feed though and don't hate on anyone who enjoyed the show, it's just not for me. I will say I liked The Witcher 4 trailer, that was cool.

about the game with product placement, the problem is they have it for a time limit... so eventually they either ripe the game down or ripe the product placement out of the game. Driving, music games have that problem all the time solution is to just make up a fake company that is similar (kinda like Rockstar does with GTA they make up new names for pretty much the same things to skip the problems)

I could definitely see the same thing happening with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle if GTA VI releases in time to be eligible for GOTY. That game was directed like a movie, with better performances, cinematography, and editing than most of what Hollywood pumps out. It'll be a high bar for any game to clear in that category.

i was not aware about the controversy around intergalactic and Witcher IV... and still dont get it. idk what being a woman and being bald has to do with anything... I also always assumed the Witcher 4 would be about Ciri, that just seems like the natural direction to take the story (i haven't gotten to the second half of the book series yet, so idk if/how they do it). Although i didn't expect to ever see Witcher 4 after the announcement of the trilogy reboot. I'm way more excited for the the Witcher 4 than for the reboot tbh.
