Good luck checking all of them. There are hidden defects like chewed up or dried out tape, pressure pads falling off, or just plain worn out. Do you have something to listen to them onto test them? I sell tapes and when a customer gets a bad one that slips by me it usually goes against my account with negative feedback and a refund. You won't have to worry much if you sell them in lots but is you sell a single one for $15 or more and it's damaged you are just asking for trouble. it's not like a CD when you can quickly inspect it just by looking at the surface.
@scott-bates4 жыл бұрын
stvlu733 You’re right. I remember having to inspect the pad and at least play it for the first song at a minimum to make sure it was not damaged. More times than not the good bands worth the most money got played the most and we’re damaged. Wiping out profits. Not sure I’d do it again. If you’re selling on discogs and really into music, you’ll do ok with all the work involved. You won’t have to worry about negative feedback on eBay either. Lol
@stvlu7334 жыл бұрын
@@scott-bates Also don't forget that some parts of the same tape may play and some parts will be dried out and not play at all. I have witness this on most Capitol tapes. This is a long drawn out process to test cassettes but I like it because I love all kinds of music anyway. I don't mind the torture of some if they are terrible if they are worth it like listening to a Yoko Ono solo album for 50 minutes LOL. I can listen to them while I work on them and visually inspecting other tapes.

I saw the album doubles, Elvis, the K-tel tape, low value common albums and I already knew someone else has possibly been though these tapes to collect and sell. They will take longer than you think to sell most even if they are popular. Take this from a person who sells hundreds of cassettes. If you are a well known trusted seller that sells one kind of thing you will make a whole lot more $$ on regular cassettes like this when customers buy 2 or 3 in the same purchase separately sold. I would never pay more than a quarter for each since many might be in poor shape.

i find it interesting that VINYL and CASSETTE versions of Appetite for Destruction sell for way more then the CD version. I decided to look up the solds on ebay to see which format sold for the most. CD would have the clearer and more crisp sound yet the format with the lesser audio qaulity sells for so much more. I think the reason for that is because people get the "nostalgic"feel of the album when they hold it in their hands. What do other people think about that?
