For the more coveted and high value cards, PSA seems to make it nearly impossible for the average collector to get a 10. In my experience, my cards that objectively fit the description of a 10 come back from PSA with lesser grades and no transparency. Feels like a scam to me.

It's absolutely a scam. Grading is simply a money grab for the grading companies... it's completely subjective and takes no skill whatsoever. Better off just authenticating the cards without grading. Buy the card, not the grade.

But in this case the Gyarados 10 made the submission profitable. He probably spent a hundred bucks or a bit more for this submission while only the Gyarados made him around 400 bucks.

Thank you for posting this video…I was debating whether or not to send the 2 cards I just got back today that should have been 10s easily but came back an 8 and a 9…I kind of figured this “review” service they offer is nothing but a money grab, and I highly doubt will ever get them to bump up the grade, probably purely out of spite…I don’t grade a lot of cards but I’m convinced that they are simply controlling the pop counts and raking in the money, giving out lower grades than cards deserve so people will send them back in and pay even more money trying to get a higher, correct grade. Sorry you didn’t get better grades, I feel your pain…thanks for saving me some money though. Take care.

​@@pokehex5555 Can you tell me why do you agree with him? Gyarados probably wasn't a 10 before and there is a pretty nice price gap between the 9 and 10. Plus maybe you were sarcastic but I thought you were satisfied with the Charizard 7 like it was an upgrade. I see the problem in this review procedure but if we think about it as far as I know they don't downgrade cards so it's less volatile than breaking slabs. The rate of upgrades are probably low but if you have some nice PSA 9 cards the price gap could make it worth to give it a shot. Plus your video proved they are giving tens in the review procedure.

I stopped grading cards a couple years back, money grab with no clear standards unless your someone big your grades will stay below the big money grades. Thinking they try and keep vintage low numbers on the higher grade. Just complete BS scams

@@Kybonelook at what they did with Logan Paul. He bought a PSA 10 Charizard and then had it regraded at Beckett for a gold label. Beckett apparently told the original seller they would never regrade that card up. PSA also put “Logan Paul box break” on each holo card that was graded a 10 during his box break so it’d have an extra premium. These grading card companies play favorites clearly

It's clear that PSA sinks the number of cards that they don't want to gain value. Charizard being the key example. These are pack fresh cards they should all be PSA 10s

If anything most should be PSA 9s with a few PSA 10s. The Charizard has some bad print lines, PSA 7 is ridiculous, at worst should be a PSA 8.

Just found your channel and subbed bro, PSA I feel have dropped their game. I feel they are not fair anymore and have some kind of jealousy with vintage cards. I find CGC to be tougher on their grades but are much more fair. There is no way that Zard is a 7. I was guessing at least a strong 8 or weak 9

You know exactly what they do with the review service - they take them out of your box, put them into their box, put a piece of paper in there, charge your credit card, and send them back. You should put a barely perceptible mark on the case of a card, send in it in for review, and see if you get the same case back. Bet you anything they don't even crack them.

No one at PSA reads the comments field, and they never give any explanation to their grades. This is nothing new, it’s been this way for years. The only way you might get some feedback from them regarding the grades is if you sub them in person doing the highest level walkthrough, and I’m not even sure if this is still a thing today with COVID and all.

I just did my first PSA return and I submitted my childhood Charizard unlimited with a red smudge on it and it came back a 7. I also submitted a brand new base pack fresh Charizard I pulled and also came back a 7. It’s a total scam I was completely livid

Which OG pack do you feel you could be the best investment? understand it's taking a huge risk and you'd likely lose money but would love your thoughts. I do know you said it's better to just buy the PSA10 cards instead.

Best investment? Idk, I don’t view this as an investment at all lol. I view it as fun and a nice side hobby. Best investment would be HEX.com lol, yes seriously. The most fun for me are shadowless and 1st edition packs. That’s just me though.

Hmmm. As you can see by my videos, I only like the old OG base set stuff. So base set, fossil and jungle. If it’s just to have fun and not to “invest”, then possibly Jungle 1st edition packs could be fun but weighted heavy only or regular base set heavy packs. But if it’s to invest, just purchase PSA 10 OG cards, not packs as you mostly always lose money on packs.

the unlimited base cards, base set 2 cards are not as popping or pretty as the shadowless cards. I was lucky as a kid the first base booster packs I opened from Albertsons were shadowless. I then got into 1st edition pretty quick. Even the japanese unlimited cards are nicer than English unlimited.

Hello PokeHex! I have a card that want to review, its a quite valuable one. But I am a rookie in this matters, I used to have somebody that basically told me what to do. My intention with the card was to crack it open and send it again but this person told me PSA marks the cards somehow only they are able to see and that if I did this they would not grade it again and would just return it to me. Is this real? Thanks a lot.

In short, I own an IT business but I invested mostly all of my money into Crypto Currency. Been into Crypto heavily since 2017, my favorite being HEX. I view Pokemon as a fun hobby not really as an investment even though 10 years from now, I would imagine all these cards will be worth much more, but crypto will outperform it.

Yes it has happened. Humans grade these cards and the fact that a different set of eyes grades a card differently doesn’t necessarily mean there is any malfeasance. There’s always going to be a margin of error. PSA grades over 7 million cards a year and to expect 100% consistency is just not realistic.
